    100 Day Club members/Maintenance Thread

Thank you, Sam. Last January and February, when the days were passing so slowly, I would scroll forward on my e-calendar and try to imagine how good I was going to feel after 1 month... 2 months... On my birthday... At Thanksgiving... I understand why ODAAT is the ticket for many people and it was for me in the beginning in terms of just not succumbing to the signals to drink, but envisioning my life in the future has been very helpful in maintaining my commitment. I sure appreciate everyone here who has shown me the way :l.

Glad you're back safe and sound, Byrdie. The MindPeace you promised truly is the greatest gift of all. I can't imagine how you could possibly have fit drinking into the last few weeks you've had! It is wonderful to be done with all of that business.

Why do you cook your turkey a week early ?

We're heading a couple hours away for Thanksgiving with BIL and SIL - should be pretty laid back and nice. I wonder if she has started our turkey yet ...:H

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends! I've been working a lot, loving my job but working hard. My mother in law will be visiting from out of town this weekend. I was always a little embarrassed about my drinking habits when near her and her(late) husband. It is nice to be able to hang out without wishing they'd leave so I could drink more!

Not this year though. And my sis in law who hosts thanksgiving has already asked what to have on hand for me. So nice of her to already be thinking of my af needs. I was planning on bringing my own pellegrino or Perrier and limes already cut up but no need now.
In years past I do remember trying to figure out who was the least drunk to drive my mom home. That'll be my honor this year! Yep our holidays have been pretty much drunk-fests. Gonna be an eye-opener this year!
Yep I have to agree, this year's holidays are going to be an eyeopener for me. I honestly think that this thanksgiving and Christmas will be the first sober hodidays for me in my adult life. Wow that just blows my mind in retrospect. (I didnt do so well in between those two dates either.) I'm a real good cook and host both holiday's and like you Sanchez by the time the meal was on the table I was toast. As I have posted elsewhere, I hid my day to day drinking so, a holiday party was my excuse to be out in the open and Katie bar the door, I indulged. I not only drank out in the open I also had my hidden bottle of vodka. I only hope my meal will be as good, never did it without being three sheets to the wind!

TJ, I was the very same way....there is a first time for everything, and this year will be different in many ways for you. But trust me, different is a whole lot better than repeating the past. Getting thru this series of 'firsts' will make next year a cake walk! We will all be right beside you!! I'll be on the table next to the salt shakers cheering you on!!! I know THIS year, the MEAL will be a smash, not you! Bahahaha....(best I could do, I'm rushed). XXOO, Byrdie

We just have my sister coming Thanksgiving day. My BIL and his 20 year old son will join us Friday to eat up the leftovers. Last year we cooked our turkey Wednesday. Boy, that made the meal much easier.

                Yes
at Xmas it was my sworn duty to make the egg nog, and it was a great recipe for getting drunk. Someone else is going to have to do that, I just can't any more.

That's OK Sam - eggnog is fattening, let someone else do the honors :H

I haven't even purchased my turkey yet. That just goes to show how excited I am about spending another day of my life slaving in the kitchen! I'll get one, eventually :H :H

you get rid of your rooster? just a mere walk to the chicken house, then you don't need to worry with the turkey

We have three turkeys in the freezer, one comes out today. We love turkey with homemade gravy, so we stock up at 49 cents a pound.

Sam - I did stuff the rooster in the travel crates with the old birds on Wednesday. He's now running around on the Amish farm. I'm sure they'll let him get bigger before they invite him to dinner :H

Sunbeam, I gave my standup freezer to my son a few years ago. I figured he needed it more than I did so I just don't have freezer space to stock up anymore. I think I miss my freezer more than my husband :H

No point in putting it off any longer - time to go clean out the chicken house so the young hens feel special

I'm not feeling motivated about Thanksgiving. I need to figure out whether to take a stab at making a pie and bread to bring to the 'event', or just buy it at the store. Also, I'm out of normal stuff to eat....but I'm dreading facing the store this weekend.
