Bet you don't need any more snow either Dottie!
Byrdie, my chickens will not walk in the snow. I see pictures of other people's flocks (different breeds) out in the snow. What I do is go out & clear a path for them in their fenced yard. Otherwise they are stuck inside the coop until it melts & they get pretty nasty with each other after a few days, if you know what I mean. They are OK with the extreme cold - just won't walk on snow. Princesses :H
The electric heated base their water can sits on has just barely been keeping their water from freezing this year but so far so goodAF since 03/26/09
NF since 05/19/09
Success comes one day at a time

Our dog has an excellent bladder, but she has peed in the house a couple of times because she doesn't want to go out in the cold. We've had her four years, this has never happened. But then, it has never been this cold especially not for so many days on end.My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. Oh my I feel a little guilty sitting here on my deck sipping an iced drink and thinking about having a swim soon........
As an emigrated pom I still feel odd being in summer in January ...... I cant stand cold weather so New Zealand is definitely the place for me!

There ARE people who control what can and cannot be said here......but they can hardly be called moderators as it would appear they ONLY remove what THEY don't agree with. If you are personally attacked and they don't LIKE you....you can go hang!
In the last week people (including me) have received spam PMs simply trying to sell them something, something that could cause NO distress yet the moderators HAVE taken action.
This is from Ne/ne Eva's thread today........

So the site DOES still have moderators!!!
HURRAH
Yet when I contacted them TWICE last week to ask for the personal, inciteful and harassing post from caper to be removed I did not even receive a reply.
I will keep it in my signature until it IS removed.....a reminder that moderation here depends on who you know apparently!

GREAT JOB!! It's hard to fathom all the positive changes, wouldn't you say? Everything is better!
If you drank cheap stuff like I did, you've saved $1800!!! (I was about 10 bucks a day). GREAT JOB! B

10 bucks a day is about right. Everything is better for sure. Thanks folksHappiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.

Great effort there, TJ! I hope it's getting to the point that it isn't tough every day.
Kuya, that isn't right that the moderators can stonewall like that and aren't consistent or fair. I guess we're getting what we pay for around here .
I'm at the end of a great weekend. I really appreciated all the well wishes I received around here, for one thing, and I spent both days with friends who clearly now get it and seem to be fine with the fact that I don't drink. There was no pressure or awkwardness and maybe best of all, not drinking was a total non-issue for me. I was paying the tab for 7 people last night and noticed that the wine accounted for well over a third of the bill - we definitely are saving money by not drinking!
