I don't like AC, Sam, so I'm holding out - I also like it hot as long as I have fans. If this keeps up though, I'm sure to be out-voted and on it will go. Mostly I just hate being closed in - you have to do that all winter. I live for the days of open windows and breezes through the house.

At least one subscriber I know has cancelled due to site performance. I might do that if I thought it would stimulate action but I have doubts about that. I know I wouldn't join MWO if I found it now - the slow speed at certain times of day would be too frustrating and the spam would worry me that the site was not carefully maintained. I'm very grateful that I found it when I did - it wasn't perfect but it certainly was better than it is now. It makes me sad about people who are missing this opportunity to change their lives.

I agree NS & I am also grateful that the site wasn't full of spammers when I first joined. I was in a pretty miserable place & just barely able to figure things out without all the distractions
I really hope something can be worked out to make the place user/newbie friendly again.

My AC is on because this excessive heat & humidity just shuts me down. I also need to keep the abundant allergens out of here. There would be no sleeping for me without it either. We just put a new unit in this Spring so it's quiet & very efficient.

Byrdie, I hope Rubi is OK. I didn't even know a dog could injure an 'ankle'. I have a dog with hip & shoulder problems, chronic arthritis stuff.

        Greetings Sam, June & everyone!

          Hi, Everyone:

The spam is awful - I am so glad it wasn't like this when I joined!

Awesome coming clean, Elvis. I had a similar experience - I told two of my best friends (a couple) the whole story of my drinking and getting sober - they were so supportive and wonderful. It was amazing to realize that I have friends that I trust that much, and so freeing to tell them my story! I am coming around to this "I don't drink" thing more an more.

Pretty chuffed for my 200 days today (I've never used that word before - did I use it correctly?). Thanks to all of you.

Pav, they make a cream for chuffing....it's in the itchy section of your drug store.

Congrats on yours and Ava's 200 days!!! In a million years, did you ever think you'd be a trusted advisor on how to STOP drinking????!!!!

Getting over those itchy spells in the first few months is so critical...that's what separates the men from the boys. Every single episode that we conquer makes us stronger. The scary side of that is when we see folks succumb to it...it makes AL stronger. That's a scary thought, it's got plenty of power as it is. The mind is an amazing thing. Anyway, I'm so proud of you and Ava and the growth you have shown and shared. Here's to the next 200 and beyond!!! XO, Byrdie

                        Hope your BBQ is fun.

I am having a small family gathering tomorrow. My son usually shows up with a few bottles of beer for himself & his Dad, no one else drinks anymore
I think we do influence others even without intention. When people see that I am happy and healthy and still having a good time they might see that it isn't the AL that makes it or breaks it.

I wonder though if we don't begin to surround ourselves with those who drink less or not at all. And those that normally drink on occasion don't feel the need to drink at our events.

A lot of it has to do with having the grandkids around now 3June - I think
Why show yet another generation the 'fun' of inviting AL to every occasion?
The two beer drinkers here (husband & son) are very low key & don't make a big deal about it, so that's good

3J, as we speak, my across the street neighbors are setting up tables for some event they are having today. This lady is a heavy drinker, as is her BF. In the past, they have invited us over and the couple times we have gone, they pushed it HARD on me (to the point where hubs felt bad for me!). So I don't imagine we'll get invited to whatever soir?e she is having today....and that's fine. Maybe it's a combination of both things, I no longer seek out opportunities where I can drink virtually undetected and maybe I do tend to hang out with either non drinkers, or ones that can take it or leave it. Could be a 'birds of a feather' thing.

It is amazing how our perspectives change tho, the drunk fest parties don't seem fun AT ALL anymore...they seem sad and pathetic now. I know that the folks who ALL drove their cars to this lady's house (5 our there now) will be drinking and driving. I am just glad I'm not going to be a party to that party!! I'd rather hang out with a bunch of puppies or little kids than a bunch of drunk adults!! Bah! :H My definition of FUN has truly evolved!!!! B

Byrdie I was the same, as long as AL was invited I wanted to be there. In fact I remember once Hubby saying it's a shame so and so won't come out because he can't drink and drive. Why does he feel the need to drink? And I looked at hubby like he was insane for not understanding that a person who drinks couldn't possibly attend a "pub night" and not drink!
