    Hi, Pride:

Thanks for checking in and for your wisdom. That freedom is what it is all about. You are an inspiration to those of us trailing behind you!

      How very true!

Lovely post PBF.... My sobriety has been very similar.

Coming up on two years and recovering nicely. It takes time for the brain to settle so it is still exciting to watch 'who' I will be....... Life is still life but a whole lot easier without alcohol.

Pride: I enjoyed your post immensely. I've been around for a while, & while I did have a relapse after 3 years, I'm now sober for almost 2 years again. I love sobriety, because like you, I didn't do well spiritually lying, hiding, & betraying my loved ones on a daily basis. I now know what I'm doing all the time...even the dumb stuff. In the morning, I remember what I did the night before. Those might seem like little things, but to me, they are big. I have a group of sober people whom I feel close to who help me stay sober. I absolutely know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I cannot moderate my drinking. My relapse proved that to me. Once I took the first drink, I was right back into it again. So, for me, complete sobriety is what I need to embrace. I don't come here daily the way I used to, as I have face-to-face support. But, I do log in occasionally & am so glad I did today. I was happy to see your message. It gives me strength to go through another day sober. I haven't had as many changes in my life as you have. Mine have been of the more internal variety. Take care & again thank you for your post. Mary

pbf....what a great post..got to agree with you ..think the most important ingredients are self belief, commitment,an understanding that it is going to be tough going to start with and most of all the support of the likes of this site...

                  Thank you for your story.

I agree with what you said here:
There's one common thread in any program, and that's the company and support of other people going through exactly what you're going through. I think that's the most important component.

The shared stories/experiences I've found the most helpful (regardless of the 'program'). Also other people's stories, especially those of people just starting out help me to not forget how painful it was when I first quit (hopefully for the last time). Also helps me not to get too comfortable/complacent with my sobriety.
