Yea, Lila, I could use some New Years goals. I ate too much and though I was pretty good modding, I still drank every night. No more than 2 glasses a night but I feel like I really need to have some AF days. I have a vaca in Feb I need to lose some weight for and ...... my son just got engaged Christmas day! So I have a wedding I need to lose weight for as well. What do you have in mind?

MM, maybe going to the gym at least 3 days a week AND taking a fitness class
following a diet, carefully. still thinking, but i love to start fresh, new goals, etc
Eve, Sometimes I feel like it is easier just to NOT drink, and then you don't have to worry about that line. I know, we go over and over this.
TMH, boxing day? i have heard of that, not familiar. i am glad you are loving Florida. I just thought that was a big move, and i never asked. i can see how you would be a popular person to visit!

          hi modders.
looks like the holidays are challenging for most of us, but hey, let's not get too down on ourselves. ALL of my friends are drinking way more than i am during the holidays!!

I went a week AF, then when i decided to have that glass of wine(at an ornament exchange party) it was so good. I ended up having 1 and a half glasses and then had perrier. This was actually under the 2 glasses i had allowed myself. I have had a drink every night since then, but the most i had was 3, and that was only one night. i usually just stuck to 1 and a half or 2.
So, i'm happy with the moderation I've shown during the holidays. The new year will bring me at least 3 days AF per week. I'm going to try to stick to that goal, but until then, i'm just going to continuing drinking in moderation and enjoy the rest of my holidays.

          Cheers!

oh, and yes, i am better after my illness. the silver lining was it sure did make AF easy.

            Letgo,
Encouraging post and good for you to maintaining your goals!

We had steaks last night and it was tempting to open a bottle of red and enjoy a glass of wine with the steak but I don't even want to get into that habit as today is a work day for most folks and holiday excuse or not, I want to try to stick to 1-2 glasses on Friday and/or Saturday and that's it. I allow myself (without too much guilt) one weekday night if there is something going on like a party or guest visiting or occasions like that but for normal work weeks we don't get in the habit of drinking anything. Meals with the teens are AF for the most part and I like setting that example for them. I also like setting the example that I don't NEED a drink to relax. Coming home from work to relax doesn't mean needing a drink to do it. Here's to a more successful 2012 however as I still need some fine tuning for my mod program.

Hi TMH, Lila, Eve and LGL and all other modders,
Wow, everyone seems to be doing great and sticking to their goals. I have finally had an AF night last night and feel great. Even though I was not drinking much, I was still having some wine every night. I only missed one day of not working out because the gym was closed on Christmas day but I still got a walk in. Went twice yesterday and plan on doing two a day as much as I can this winter. I plan on being AF the rest of this week but will get a bottle of wine for NYE. We plan on going out to lunch NYE and then a to a movie. We're going to see the silent movie that is out that got rave reviews. Anyone see it yet? After the holiday, my goal is to go back to being AF during the week and then having no more than 2 glasses of wine Sat and probably Sun. If I can stick to that, I will be happy with my mod goals. Have a good day all.

Well, it was silly of me to pick this week to begin AF. GD played golf for first time (she's 18) and dd wanted to stop in for a drink after. I think because SIL always does - it was fun and we did have some quality "ladies" time. 1 gl of wine for me, 1 vodka drink for DD and 1 Shirley temple for gd. Then last night we had no predinner drinks but poured a gl of wine to go with our turkey leftovers. Very controlled and pleasant. Watched a movie after dinner.

Lila - like Eve, I'm mulling over NY goals. But like LGL I want to be realistic too and saying AF all week might not be it. Having said that I am also considering being AF all of January! Boxing Day is Canadian holiday, maybe Europe too. My understanding is it's a day to give the help a day off.

MM - great job on double workouts! When I went AF last May for awhile, that is what I did. I would make sure I had dinner planned and/or started and substitute a bike ride for Happy Hour and then come right in and eat and devote evening to relaxing with movies. Kind of tells me to go with what worked!

Ok - 3 more days to decide.

                  hi gang
well, last day of the year! I am going to spend this evening quietly probably, making goals and setting a direction i want to go this coming year.
I am feeling pretty positive about things, finally!
TMH, that sounds great, all of you ladies spending time together!
MM, haven't heard of that movie. Your goals sound great. I am working out too, and i am feeling so much better about myself, more positive.
Eve, that is what it is for me, habit. I am interested in what you are going to do for fine tuning.
LGL, way to look on the bright side! are you all better, then?
it has been quiet here, let's all check in!

                    Hi everyone,
Happy New Year! I'm saying it now because I will probably be in bed by 10:00. I can never stay up for the ball drop. Went to see The Artist this afternoon. Incredible movie if you get a chance to see it. It is a silent movie but got rave reviews and I hope will clean up at the Oscars. It is a true feel good movie. I couldn't keep the smile off my face. Sitting here now with hubby while dinner is cooking and enjoying a glass of wine. I wish you all a safe and happy evening and all the best for the New Year to come. MM :h
