Well, took this morning off from the gym. I reinjured my elbow yesterday somehow. I have had tendonitis in it for 8 months now and haven't been able to do many arm workouts. I did start slowly doing tricep pulldowns and maybe I did something there. I am so mad at myself. I was taking it so slowly and now this happened again. I did take ibuprofen and iced it last night and it does feel better but I will have to lay off arms again. I do think I will go tonight though and get some cardio in. I feel like a slug today. But I was also just so tired this morning I decided to take a rest. Those 2 a days are doing me in. I also wanted to be able to play tennis next month when we go to Key West but that's not going to happen now. Grrrrr!

MM - :durn: how disappointing! Frustrating, huh! Good for you for having the attitude to go do cardio, in other words, do what you can do. Hope it heals fast. Oh, I was going to ask you where you were going in FL alm: but thought I should PM you; now I know. I'm sure we'll make a trip that way someday. You can still have a great time!
For me even though only exercise was golf yesterday I am so pleased. We traveled a bit for the golf so it turned into an all day event. Was paired with a couple from Luxemburgh (sp). In FL on holiday. All their holidays revolve around golf. Interesting to hear that reason they came here is there really is no place warm enough in Europe; other choice would have been No. Africa. Here is why I'm so pleased. We decided to just have a quiet evening in with popcorn and chardonnay as we had a late lunch. I sipped on 2 gl for over 2 hrs. dh poured me a 3rd and wasn't even tempted to take another sip; he drank it instead. Better on him than moi! And now Sat. a.m. I am a happy camper.
Ok, looks like I am not going to make the 20 AF being it's the 20th already. It will more than likely be around 15 what with entertaining company starting tomorrow. We'll see. That's still goes from nearly everyday drinking to half.

TMH, That's great you have reduced you AL by half. And with all of your workouts I am sure you are feeling great. I have greatly reduced my intake as well. I stuck to my goal of not drinking M-F this week. I will go get a bottle of Chardonnay today and have a couple or maybe just one today and then a couple or one tomorrow. I am still calorie counting and I dont' want to go over my calorie goal. I am slowly losing and down 3lbs. Yay!
Have a wonderful mod weekend folks.

MM - wish I could say I'm losing. I just lose the same .5 lb over & over. I just plain don't fit in all the meals. This may be a mindset after practicing F-5 eating plan. Because I weigh more than I would like to be I am entertaining going back to Fast-5 where you only eat during a 5 hr window every 24 hrs. I looked good; flat stomach instead of constantly feeling bloated, my asthma disappeared; I did not have stomach issues which I have big time now.
However, having said that I think that is where I started having more drinking problems. I'd break my fast with a small meal at 3:00p, then at 5:00 or 6:00 have a gl of wine or 2, then my main meal. I think the drinking escalated so I'd have to monitor that much better. We'll see - right now I have to figure out why I'm having so many digestive issues. Today only took 1 supplement and got the stomach ache - calcium. Need to turn this around and then work on wt loss.
You know if it isn't one end; it's the other. :H

Hey TMH, Boy do I know about the calcium stomach ache. I take 600mg 2x day. But I take it right after lunch and then around 7pm. I never take it on an empty stomach. Don't know if you do that or not but have food in your stomach before you take it.
I don't diet. I calculate my calories, weight, and activity on the website caloriecount.com. They figure everything for you. All you have to do is log your food, activity and weight daily and then they tell you what you are lacking in nutrients, etc. I had used it before and it worked. In order for me to be successful I need to be able to see it visually. This website is the only thing that has worked for me. Take a peek at it and tell me what you think.
Personally, I don't think fasting is a good thing. Your body is being told that it is being deprived. Then it halts your metabolism for survival so it doesn't go into starvation mode. I eat 3 meals a day and then have snacks in the afternoon and after dinner. It is really important to eat but keep your calories within range and eat good things. But I do have a Kashi granola bar in the daytime and then found these Fiber One brownies, 90 calories, that I have as my snack in the evening. It's all about calories. Don't deny yourself food. You will only want more."What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding." Elvis Costello

Fun time, nice visit. Played the golf, had 1 drink, grilled steaks, wine with dinner. Stayed up a little later than usual. Good time; think visitor got perspective of life down here for us. He was nostaglic in that not only his parents but his grandparents took him to FL year after year. What a legacy. He was sad on way to airport to know he had to put long pants on again.
Boy, do I feel I need to get back to a regular w/o routine. Just so many things enter in but know that cannot be an excuse because that is so true for all of us.

Hi guys, I've been watching here this month and decided to join you. Started cross training shortly after Christmas and have been AF the last 15 days, hope to close out the month with 22 days.
That would be my best start ever as I average about 120 to 160 AF days each year. So far I got the weight down a little, I weigh about 165 I'm 5'9" very hard to go much lower than that. Been running, walking and riding my bike every day, and my goal is to keep on when I exit my current AF program on March 1st. Have to admit I'm looking forward to a few coldies.
Hope you are well, B-45

Welcome B-45. You seem to being doing well and getting a lot of AF time. I've been doing 2 a days, 5 days a week now for 3 weeks and workout a total of 7 days a week. Trying to lose a total of 7lbs. 3.6 to go. After I reach that goal, I may keep trying for more. But it will be really hard as I will be at a good weight after the total of 7.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Ditto welcome B-45! In fact, thank you for joining us as I was entertaining quitting as no one except MM & I seem to be interested here. Do I read you to say you plan to be AF til March 1st? That is awesome! Bet you're feeling marvelous. Any other lurkers?
Doing well here. Have some Tracey Mallet DVDs called Sexy in 6. These are 6 min segments using cardio & wts. I did 3 segments yesterday, then played 18 holes of golf and Happy Hour w/o was 6 mile bike ride outdoors.

Yep I'm out here up at 4:45 am this morning. AF day 16 today. I moderate a little differently than most on this site in that some times I drink and sometimes I don't. When I do drink I tend to drink to much. My goal is 200 AF days this year and I'm off to a good start. I've been averaging about 100 miles a week on the bike, 20 miles or so jogging, and about another 20 or so walking. That will slow down a bit as I go back to work next month.
TMH, have a good time with your golf, great exercise, wish I was better at it, MM thanks for the encouragement. I'll hang out with you 2 for awhile here.
Heading up to Seal Beach, supposed to be 73 degrees today perfect for a little run, walk, and if I was drinking a pint of ale at Hennessy's wouldn't be bad. Maybe on Feb. 1st.
Be well, B-45

Hey TMH and B-45,
Kinda getting tired of my workouts. I try to mix it up at the gym but I am getting bored. But I think that is winter for you. Too cold to do much outside although I did take an hour walk along the Bay yesterday. It was a beautiful day. I think I may also have to up my daily calorie intake from 1500 maybe to 1700. I am so hungry and with 2 workouts a day I am not doing myself any favors. I will fail miserably if I allow myself to go hungry. Feeling a bit blue today. Off to the gym for an evening light workout. Maybe that will cheer me up.
Hope everyone is doing well. Wish I could be having your weather B-45 and TMH. I love being outside all day being active. Oh well, it will come soon enough and then I'll be complaining that it's too hot and humid. :H"What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding." Elvis Costello

Hi MM and TMH. I think a good day off from the workouts is sometimes the way to go, or maybe switch up the time of day for your different activities if possible. Problem is this time of year although the weather is just plain stunning right now the days are so short if you blink there over. That's one of the reasons I like to stack up the AF days right now, they are short days.
MM, 1500 cals a day might be a little aggressive, I think you will see some results if you can stick with it. That being said it doesn't help to be hungry all the time. I know I eat what seems like twice as much when working out hard and not drinking. Don't like drinking on a full stomach, puts me to sleep, and while relaxing not to good on the waistline.
Keep up the posts, and let me know what's up for next month. This weather is supposed to sustain (70's and 80's) for the next 10 days and I've been assured we have a designated driver for the Super Bowl party at my brother's. Rumor is he has a keg of Heineken and I plan to hit that thing as hard as possible. After that I'm going to try for another 20 days AF in February.
Wish me luck, B-45

Hi ~ on a roll exercise wise, eating has been good with tonite being a bit of an exception. On Wed. I finished the first DVD, some was yoga and pilates which isn't a big calorie burn but something my bod can definitely use. I also ran/walked 4 miles. Today I did Rock Hard Abs and Buns and played 9 holes of golf. Played better, shot a 50 (that's good for me).
Every other Thurs is Happy Hour in our community. Bring appetizer & BYOB. Initially I had planned on not drinking but ended up having some wine. Food was actually pretty good, more health conscious, I just felt like I ate a bit too much incl one delicious almond melt in your mouth cookie. I'm sure my wt will reflect such tomorrow.
B-45 Mega workouts! Are you in training for an event? That's a lot of miles. There is a Super Bowl party in same community center as was in tonite, just have to walk across street. Had been entertaining going but after tonite I don't think so. It's a very nice facility but bad acoustics. I feel like I'm shouting and voice gets very strained. Sounds like you're looking forward to your bro's party.
MM - feeling better? What do you do at the gym? Maybe you could take an exercise class. One machine I liked for variety is the rowing machine. Big calorie burn. I still hover at about 1000 cal/day, today being the exception. In the past when counting calories I found 1400 was ideal for me in losing wt. I ran a lot more back then, a lot more! 14K steps/day seems to be the magic # for me maintaining my wt.
We can leave thread the same for Feb if everyone wants. We're having lots of company -made a written plan and if I stick to it it would give me 18 days AF. That's close.
