    This Thread has given me the idea to ask the kids every day what they are grateful for. I think its so important so I'm grateful for this great idea!

      Where did you meet your new best friend, Kradle? I am lonely for women friends too.

        Can too, good for you for racking up those AF days...each one counts Ike a gift to me, too, really.

        Re friends...I think I found it easier to find sincere and open friends when I was nine or ten, than I have since then! And it is sometimes very odd, how much I remember some of them. My oldest daughter is still in touch with one of her neighborhood friends from fourth grade...in fact, TADA, both young women now have twin daughters, born in 2006!

        So much for the odd coincidence ? of the day. Happy Tuesday, everybody... FF

          Today I'm grateful for choosing an amazing partner that's an incredible mother of my young twins. I'm also grateful that she's put up with a lot of my crap over the years, and that we're on the same page constantly working on our relationship.
          Well the 1st are the hardest days don't you worry anymore.

            I am grateful that after an intense week of shopping our youngest daughter finally selected a wedding dress and that we went out for dinner last night! I am also grateful that during some trying moments this week I was able to soothe my tension with caffeine-free diet coke instead of alcohol...tx, MWO! FF

              Today I am grateful that I could spend an entire rainy Sunday with my seven year old grandson, working the crossword puzzle, feeding us both sandwiches and fruit, while he plays video games...right now it is Plants vs. Zombies, he says! I am also happy to see my pale white face in the mirror, thanks to so much less booze in my system... FF

                Gratitude - please add on!

                This morning I am grateful that LG started a thread several months ago entitled "Sometthing's Missing" because that's exactly how I felt last night, and I really wanted a drink! I endured anyway, so of course later on I was happy to put my zero in the drink tracker, but this am I decided I needed to work on that feeling...so, voila!...LG's thread came to my rescue, with many, many good thoughts from MWO folks to jump start my brain into new directions. FF

                    Today I am grateful that I was able to do some emailing last night without the sinking feeling that I had better not push send, because of "a few glasses of wine" ... For years, I had trained myself to not do such tasks in the evening. Thanks, MWO and CT scans, for the impetus to improve my life, and another AF day. FF

                        Gratitude - please add on!

                        This morning I am grateful that I quit smoking so many years ago and now I can be honestly encouraging to our son, who quit cigarettes last month...and I am grateful to be in a financial place where I can give him an unexpected gift/reward. Breaking the back of one unwanted habit gives hope that more poor decisions can be amended, I think...thank you, Mario, for the Mark Twain quote, ...that habits are to be coaxed downstairs, one step at a time, or words to that effect! Happy Wednesday to us all! FF

                          That i have this great community to use as a sounding board on this unexpected journey through life. It's no fun having a journal because the journal never talks back!

                          Going to miss when my vacation is over and i can't read it every few hours anymore!

                              This morning I am grateful that yesterday, for the first time in ages, I intentionally chose a glass of iced tea instead of a glass of white wine while having lunch in a restaurant...woo hoo! Thanks to MWO buddies for encouraging me in this behavior.

                              And I am also grateful for a clean bill of dental health from the tooth doctor, as well as for the fact that the (new to me) dental hygienist did not come near me with a blood pressure monitor... FF

                                FF, that is so amazing, I think dental appointments are something that usually triggers my drinking too, just for getting through it, so you did great
