Hello - sorry been MIA. Been reading here a lot (mostly in middle of night), just haven't been posting. Was not comfortable with all the arguing but see that has pretty much fallen by the wayside.

Glad I'm here now though, thanks DG, as what you were just explaining to Lasha explains where I feel I am, i.e. noticing the low tolerance factor. I can so quickly go over the edge. I took Eve's Can You Moderate test, and it made me feel better.

DH is fine. He does not have the hantavirus. Saw dr again yesterday & they gave him another round of antibiotics as he is not totally cleared up. Thanks for asking. Between that, company arriving on Sunday, and my dd contemplating ending her 20 yr marriage even though it sounds as though she is in perimenopause and I would like to see her get treated for that before making a life changing decision, well, been a little stressful. May be taking a trip to see her.

Good morning!!!! V here reporting in...... I was not AF last night...... I had two beers. I remember a few weeks ago saying how much I loved this thread when I got to report an AF day but dreaded it when I had to report otherwise..... Not now! Before I would have 5 straight beers at a bar, then come home and crack some more! Last night I had one beer than one water then another beer got home and just had water until bed.... Up at 6am no problem.

Lasha, we have to very very similar triggers.... I also suffer from the reward and use to only be able to do one AF day at a time because after one I felt a deserved to drink.... Now I look as another AF day and the great feeling I have the morning after AS my reward... I had four AF days before last night and I did not look at last night as a reward for that I looked at is I am going two enjoy a couple of beers.... I still rewarded myself by not overdoing it....

I also have high pressure job I run a construction crew and tell men twice my age with twice the field experience what to do, when to do it and how to do it! Again, I look at being AF or moderating as a HUGE boost to my performance level.... You know you are a better employee when u don't wake up with a hang over.....

Ok well gunna head to Gym hope everyone has a great day...

Maybe it would help psychologically to only share your AF success here as we are a moderation site and those times when you decide to drink and moderate should not really be considered failures

Forgive me if I am wrong and not fully understanding the intention of the site here. I do know that it definitely helps to have AF days for modders as drinking every day of the week is not a good idea although if women kept it to only 1 it is considered safe enough according to the National Institute of Alcohol and Alcoholism Guidelines to do so. Although, even though the NIAAA says 1 a day is ok, I think it's a bad idea as one gets in the habit of daily drinking so I love the AF thread and plan here.

Ruby Tuesday thread was set up to discuss weekly goals, kind of like a weekly face to face meeting (except we don't get to see each other's faces :-(
to discuss how our week went. Maybe that would be a better area to post how many days you were and weren't AF so you didn't find yourself beating yourself up on this AF thread? Just a thought. Just don't like seeing you be so hard on yourself. You are doing GREAT!

Have been thinking of you all but no time to post. Family reunion is lots of fun but I'm ready for it to come to a close...just a few more days. No recent AF days for me...all will be back to normal soon.
TMH, so glad your husband is ok health wise, and agree with yr thoughts re yr daughter's choices...
and I kind of like Eve's suggestion, that we consider commenting only on our successful AF days on this thread, what do you guys think?
ALLTHO, I am with V, on the fact that before coming here, the quantities of gin I poured down my throat were so enormous that I never even dared to "count" them, so even what might seem like a certain lack of success is STILL a huge success, for me!
and V, your job sounds very stressful to me...first graders are much less alarming ... Good for you!

Hey FF, I can only take my most immediate family in small doses the thought of a weeks worth of family reunion events would make me fake an emergency business trip for the at least half the week

TMH, must have missed your check in a while back, sorry about that, glad DH is doing better, scary thought about your DD, ending a 20 year marriage but if she is unhappy no need to waste another 20 years....... Everyone was shocked when my in laws of 33 years divorced a few years ago but MIL has NEVER been happier Sorry if it sounded like I was encouraging a divorce I just hope it works out for the best......

Eve, I think you miss understood my earlier post I said I USED to dread posting non AF days but that was only when I was truly disappointed in myself for planning to be AF and then failing, still I am very glad I did post as I think it in some way helped me, If I keep up what I have been doing the past couple of weeks I am very content with where I am at with my moderation. I think we should all post AF and non AF as that was really the point in this thread when DG set it up was for those of us who wanted to have a place to be held accountable.....
