    FF - happy Sandy is moving away from you.

    V - congrats on another great week!

    DG - totally understand ~ it's like yay, it's a drinking day ~ yay, let's have more! That is why I chose Tues to be non AF day if want.

    Well, Thursday was not AF for me. Came in from Ladies Opening Day (golf) and instead of usual buffet lunch, beautiful tables were set with individual place settings to include wine glasses and servers waiting to pour red or white. After we all chose (not one abstainer amongst our table of 8) we "cheered". Had just 1; some had more; some started in on the martinis. Not that I'm the alcohol police. Came home and took a nap, then walked 2.5 miles to up the daily steps.

    Even if I drink every weekend day I got 2 AF days in - that's improvement.
    The pain of discipline is less than the pain of regret.

      Good job TMH. Lol @ alcohol police. Funny, the reason I "noticed" other people's drinking when I was with a group was to find someone who drank as much as I wanted to drink, lol.

      I just wanted to post one more quick thing: I realized that I have wine, beer and skinny margaritas in my house, some for two weeks, and haven't been tempted at all, all week.

        That is so true about people with drinking problems. When I started to realize how easy it was for me to drink along with others who drank mindlessly I had to cut down as I get drunk on 3 drinks...no tolerance here! So, I would look like the lushy drunk, slightly slurring my words or looking glassy eyed when I had 3-4 drinks and the other folks had chugged down 8 or 9!

        When people start harm reduction or go into total recovery (abstinence) it's interesting how most will start to notice how much other people are drinking. The amounts sometimes are crazy but for severe drinkers their bodies do build up tolerance. They pay the price in the end however. I've seen too many patients in end stage liver or pancreatic failure!

          I love Fridays everyone seems so chipper and positive

          I am completely happy with staying AF during the week.... I feel like I am back to my old self to where I look forward to a weekend - Not just because I allow myself to drink but because I am not in a drunken stupor from Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon. I am still just in disbelief of how good I am feeling these days with the diet and exercise and liquor outta my life.... Not really in disbelief of how good I feel but how i EVER allowed myself to feel so shitty!

          My husband and I are going to go try this upscale steakhouse downtown tonight that we have been dying to try then we are meeting another couple for drinks after. I have to work late so dinner is not until 8 and not meeting friends until 9:30, going to try and make it a point to be home before midnight....

          O also going to try a beginners yoga class tomorrow.........

          What are everyone's weekend plans?

            Love your post V - you sound great!! Congrats on the AF week too.
            I had 2 glasses of wine on a week night when out to dinner - but even if I choose to drink tonight or Sat. I will be keeping my amount under 7 for the week, which is definitely acceptable moderation in the NIAAA's eyes!!

            Have a great week-end all. Will be checking in to nudge, support, hug...

              In my earlier post above I didn't mean to say that how I was drinking before was normal. What I meant to say is that I consider moderation a glass or two a day, or a glass or two a couple of times a week, maybe 3. Whereas my bf doesn't drink even every week, or every month...do you call both moderate?

                  Yay FF! Friday was not af for me, but I'm managing so far to keep the #of drinks down better.

                  LG, I would call that indifferent to al instead of moderate drinker

                      Yes, I agree too. Acutally the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism calls "moderate" drinking 1-7 drinks a week for women and 1-14 drinks a week for men. For someone who drinks so rarely like your bf, holidays only it sounds, I would call that an "occasional" drinker. It's all semantics isn't it?

                        This Sat. has been AF for me. We were invited to a tennis potluck but didn't really feel up to it...instead we have plans for lunch out tomorrow with two of our favorite couples. I'm really looking forward to that!
                        All is sunny & lovely here in SW Florida, altho' Sandy is causing winds from the north to buffet the palm trees about...sending good vibes to MWO members & their loved ones on the East Coast, stay safe...FFP

                          Fri was not AF for me, but moderate. Sat., today, is also non-AF. Plan to keep it light as well.
