Hi all ~ feeling optimistic this fine day.

RC: would love to join you in Barcelona, but my marathon days are over. Ran them from 1983-2006. That's enough. Wish you luck though. Had friend in MN who ran in Barcelona Olympics Marathon.

Cashy: chick peas are good carbs? I just added some to salad the other night thinking I was getting more protein. Not sure where I got that from?? Anyway, good for us.

V - agree, diet & exercise equates to usually a good lifestyle.

LB - stopping by for sex? :H ok, ok, "sec".

Ugh...... Hubby's Bday today so last night there was a punk show at a bar he wanted to go to, I did not want to go because it was a work night (He had scheduled today off for himself).... Anyway I dropped him off and a friend brought him home in the middle of the night, he seemed to have quite the buzz when he woke me at 2am for...........

So I did not make it to the gym this morning, chose to make up that hour of sleep I lost in the middle of the night, well for some reason I feel sooooo crappy about not going, I know all the things to say to myself, whats one day, no biggie, make up for it tomorrow, blah blah blah any way it is STILL really bothering me.

Now it is only 3:00 here and hubby went out to get car repairs done and just texted me that he had no luck and he is at our local bar having lunch n beer... I leave work in 30m or so and he will still be there and want me to stop in..... I want to but know if I do I will have a beer and if I even try no he will say C'mon Hun it's my birthday have a beer with me.... It is not so much having the beer but I know I will have 2 or 3 and feel especially guilty about not going to gym, plus having two or three will hinder me from getting chores done and getting my butt up at 3:30am tomorrow for gym.

sorry I know this all sounds REALLY lame in grand scheme of things but just had to get it out because for some illogical reason it is really bothering me.

I understand V. I don't know the answer to your conundrum however. I do think you shouldn't stress too much over skipping the gym. Or, you could go for an hour after work? Is that possilbe? Then maybe you wouldn't feel guilty about joining dh.

Just saying hi again. Not really in the mood lately to share a lot. Another AF night for me, though.

V, it IS crazy how things work out sometimes, isn't it...I take it, if I understood correctly, the shoes were for you, and it WAS his birthday, right??? Poor guy! anyway, I think you are doing GREAT in the overall scheme of things, so try not to fret about the missed gym time...you are already doing lots of good things for your health. FFP

V, punk show, impressive....well, you didn't go, impressive for your hubby...I am glad things worked out...

I'm having one of my bad days, not AL related, just feel really down and low....I kind of want to go for a run later, but I did my speed workout last night and you can actually over train for a marathon if you're not careful and that's the worst thing you can do during the tapering process...

                  we will see... :-(

Hope you all have a good day.

You too Stew. Hope you feel better as the day goes on.

Morning V, FF, Eve, dg, Cashy, TMH, Bimble (welcome). It's a gorgeous day here in S.C. Indian Summer is what I think it's called. Too pretty to be inside working, that's for sure! Everyone here (nearly) has gone to a conference so I'm my own boss today. Haha, I've been cracking the whip.:H

I have a review to write by tomorrow at the latest. Can you say Procrastinate? I tend to do better under pressure.

Hope everyone is having a chill day.

LG - My middle name is procrastinate and I too perform my best under the last minute pressure, enjoy your weather and day as HBIC..............

FF- Yes the shoes were for me and not for Hubby, but I did treat him to a fashion show of the shoes............ just the shoes (new pair of knee high boots ) After all it was HIS birthday Bike ride was awesome and he said he had such a nice evening, we are going to go out Friday night and really celebrate with a surf and turf dinner at an awesome Restaurant downtown that is owned by former mob Lawyer and former Mayor of Las Vegas Oscar Goodman - we have been dying to try it!

Stew, is there any other kind of physical activity that wont really interfere with your training, like swimming, a bike ride a game of racquetball or something? Hubby and I are still rebel teenagers at hart, he is in a rock band and we go to a lot of Punk shows.... Even been to a few in NY - a really good one at the Continental years ago (not sure if that is still around) Got real screwed on a cab ride back to hotel in Queens after that night - Cabby kept circling same blocks we finally caught on....

Anyone heard from D from CT?

Well to everyone else I left out - Eve, DG, TMH, Cash, Bimble, RC - Hope you all have a fabulous day

Oh my, yes was a classic place! It is still there, but they stopped having bands years ago; I don't know how many times I've seen Murphy's Law there, countless. I remember when I was a kid, the cover would be like $3. I think Monday or Tuesday was no cover. The week before I left for college, my buddy and I strolled in on one of those nights and there was this "new" band playing at the time, you may have heard of Simon and The Bar Sinisters. They ended up getting pretty popular for awhile.... Anyway, different times

It's tough, not really, most things can cause muscle pulls, really just stretching. I might do a little one or two miler after work.

And thanks, I think it was LG, I am feeling a little better.

                            October Mod Squad

                            Hi, All,

                            I'm BAAAAACK!

Got back yesterday, but am really, REALLY busy. I hadn't read the threads in almost a week, and was reading and wanting to catch up before posting. When I read some of the crap that has been stirred up in the "C.Y.M." thread, I had to post!

My trip was good, and I didn't drink at all in excess, but I did drink even though I had planned not to. I had a margarita Sunday night, a beer monday night, and a couple during the layover late Tuesday night. I stopped myself each time, though the first margarita could have easily been three or four. I was probably lucky that there was a CVS right next to my hotel in San Antonio, and I was able to get a bunch of those big 99 cent cans of Arnold Palmer, which I had back in my room and was able to just remove myself from the scene when my colleagues were starting to really drink heavily.

It was kind of funny to listen to the various stories of them still out at 1 AM, ordering shots of tequila, etc., then justify their overindulgence by saying "I didn't get drunk because I have a high tolerence" and moments later claiming "I hardly drink at all at home, it's only when I go to conferences (3 or 4x/year) that I drink like this. Yeah, right...

Anyway, I was a bit disappointed that I didn't stick to my plan to abstain, but was proud that I didn't go on a bender, or stay with the crowd out drinking until the wee hours of the morning. So I've decided to put at least a couple of weeks AF together to make sure this doesn't slide into a regular routine.

The twins are doing well, and definitely grew while I was away! Unfortunately, the younger boy (!) and wifey are both fighting a cold, and didn't sleep at all last night, so I'm going home early in a few minutes and letting her sleep while I watch the two boys.

Hope all is well with the rest of the crew. Welcome to those that have joined in the past week or so.

                            D

                              Hey D,
We were just wondering where you were so good to hear from you. Wow, you are a true modder now!! It is funny to observe others who keep drinking and drinking when one is either abstaining or moderating very well. Good for you to shut down and switch to AP.

As you said, things can become a habit so sounds like a good plan to go AF again for awhile and just keep working your program. :thanks: for your support on the other thread! Have a good day and give those twins a kiss from all of us!~

                                Good morning and TGIFF!

I hope everyone has a great Friday. I'm off to work, then taking a break to take the twins to the pediatrician for a regularly scheduled visit, but we're going to address a cold that one has shared with his mom ("wifey") and that I'm fighting off (sore throat getting worse each morning) and his brother may be coming down with.

I'll check back later, until then everyone have a GREAT Friday!
