    D- not a bad idea at all, we have the worst time remembering dates and times so we never have a clue how old our pets really are, if we name her Sandy after the storm we can at least always look it up Glad to hear you are all ok!

      My husband wanted to name my son Elvis or Jesus. I had to put my foot down and say no to those names.... Hopefully no offense to anyone w those names here. Jesus is very common Hispanic name but my husband would not be saying It the Spanish way either.

        d, glad to know you are all ok...thanks for the update.

        Oh, V, I do hope it all works out with this puppy...I'm looking forward to some pictures too.

        LG, I do the bills, too, as hubby is horrible at it...just "forgets" about them!

        I guess I spoil him in some ways, he spoils me in others...I guess every couple figures out their own methods of handling daily living...sometimes better than other times! And tomorrow is Halloween...remember to give at least SOME candy to the Trick or Treat little ones! LOL. FFP

            update on monthly mod

            V-So glad to hear about the puppy meant for you. I like D's name idea!! Ally, (I'm renaming you~may not stick but I like it between you and me) I have never heard the name Jesus in English. Somehow it seems very acceptable in the Spainish culture as it's not pronounced J-e-s-u-s. I'm glad your hubby didn't do that!

            BTW, D, glad to hear you're "weathering" the storm ok. Scary stuff! I completely revised the one thread a group of us were working on and posted it in the monthly section entitled Mod Hatters. I feel we have been really missing new folks who are searching for help, as they aren't mod term moderators so they don't feel comfortable coming here. I know when I was new I questioned it too as I really felt we were missing the boat with people but the people before me didn't post on the monthly mod site so I didn't do it. Kind of reminds me of the story about the roast:

            There is a story about a woman from a certain family where the women always cut their roasts in half prior to roasting. The third generation daughter said she did it because she understood that it made the meat more tender. Her mother said that she learned it from her own mom and thought it was to reduce the cooking time and save on energy usage. When the oldest woman, grandma, was asked about it, she said that the oven she had when raising a family was very small and it was necessary to always cut the roast in half to fit it in! So not only was there a belief being passed down that it was important to cut the roast in half, the reason behind the belief was totally lost, and no longer relevant to the womens lives! It is through family and cultural tradition that many people formulate their primary belief system.

            Sometimes these belief systems need to be changed. So here's to a new monthly mod board that we re-activate and support. Are you with me?

                Took off work early got home and I'm cleaning like a mad woman.... Washing all my old pups stuff and cleaning up everything off floors..... You would think the queen was coming over not a puppy....

                I called shelter she is still available,,,, I leave in less than 2 hours to head down there.... I am soooo excited.... Ok we'll LOTS to do thanks for listening to me and for wishing me well I will keep you all posted... WOF WOF!

                        oh V, that's such great news. Does she have a name? are you going to rename her? This is so exciting for you. You could swap a few days at the gym and take your furry one for a walk or run instead. I like walking my doggies, proper structured exercise, not so much

                          I'm happy for you too, V. although am not a dog person myself. So is it going to be you or hubby who goes home at noon to let it out? I'm betting this will maybe help with the Empty Nest syndrome? That's nice, esp. since didn't you say it's a Rescue dog? My bro is like a Dog Whisperer, and I do learn a lot from him. His dogs and my friend with ALS who has a Helping Paws dog are the only dogs I pet. (allergic). Looking forward to hearing its name!

                          Do not expect to have any trick or treaters unless there are grandkids visiting in community. There is twilight golf and dinner that we could have signed up for. Instead, will be out grilling steak and will have my huge bag of Costco pb cups ready to give out handfuls - actually, I hope that happens. Happy Halloween to all of you. Any party goers?

                            Hi All. No party going here, TMH. Will be an AF night for me. I remember when I could go to parties during the week and never blink an eye. Those days are history!:H Well, I pretended I could still get hammered during the week for way long after it was possible, but thank god those days are long gone.

                            V, so glad you got your precious! "Got to get the Precious!":H Are you going to keep calling her Ginger? I want pictures!

                              Hello Everyone

                              I am back from Santorini. What a truly wonderful place, we didn't want to come home. It's probably a good job that we did though as I drank wine every day. So my intention is to do a stint of 30 days AF now... However, I was also eating 3 meals a day (usually 1 in the UK) and still managed to lose 2 pounds! Must of been all that driving around

                              I saw the news about hurricane Sandy when I got back and am relieved to read that those of you who live in NYC are OK - I was worried. Will things be OK for the marathon?

                              V - I am so pleased to hear about your puppy - didn't I tell you that there would be one with 'your name on it' will Sandy suit her?

                              I have so much work to catch up with having been away for over a week plus lots of washing and ironing.

                              But I will leave you with a picture of a Santorinian sunset.

                                Great timing Chaaku as we have two new threads in the monthly mod section and one of them is a new 30 day AF site. We're only on day 2 so jump right in!
