    Experiencing the Other Side

Thanks To Everyone for your love and support. Waking up to all of your positive comments was a real treat! Last night was very important to me. It's almost hard to believe it happened.

Lisa your words are true. I do feel ready to move past those days. You are right, I am a little defensive of my friends, because I love them. I called my girlfriend today to see if she was okay, and she acted like nothing had happened--she was a bit defensive, although she commended me on not drinking. I think she was embarrassed inside though. I was worried about her, and it was hard to meet with denial when I called. Oh well, though, what can I do??

Another friend of mine who used to have a drinking problem but has successfully moderated over the years says, "hey it was fun when we were 20, but it's really ugly when you're 50." I really saw the truth in that last night.

Marcie, thanks for popping in with your good wishes. It means a lot to me! :h

    Hugs again!:l

      Kathy, Jane... fabulous!

Maggie, I wholeheartedly agree wity what you've said here too. This is what I'm applying too.

I found myself in 2 social situations this weekend where I was the only adult not drinking. Nobody was drunk but today I did find myself explaining 'got sick of the hangovers' thing and I was left in peace about it (I brought my fav mineral water and was perfectly happy with that while they downed their beers/wine/poison-lol). It's not bothering me anything like it would have say 4 weeks ago, and for that I am sooo damn grateful! I do believe this is getting easier I think this is becuase of my emotional change in attitude towards alcohol.

Kathy, you've faced several really difficult situations with friends over these past 5 weeks and I agree completely with Lisa... you're onto something good here now. Treasure it *hug*

              Kathy,
What a wonderful and touching story.
It is so hard to be with the people we love and see them abuse their bodies....and we just wish there was not a "Need" to self medicate their pain...whatever it is......

              I'm so happy for you....

              Love,
              Nancy
