    New 30 Day group

    Hi all,

Just a quick hello. I am so incredibly busy right now that I haven't had time to keep up with all the posts. But I am making it a point to log in every night (morning actually) before I go to bed, and skim through the recent posts.

It's just nice to see that this tread has grown to a dozen pages!

Welcome all new people, you have definetly found the hippest group of non-drinking drinkers on the net!

Satori, your restroom wisdom is food for the soul. I can see that your avatar was well chosen.

    Have a great day all.

      Oh, and Doggygirl-

If you want me to read your posts you are going to have to send me a condensed version.

How many words do you type per minute?

WHEE Pinkie!!! Good morning and congratulations on Day 14!! That is awesome news about your shopping day and especially your lunch. Not drinking is one thing, but not even WANTING to is like icing on the cake! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * (Pinkie's gold stars)

Chantrix, exercise, WOW - we totally ARE going to be perfect!! Just think how many people we can annoy with our future perfection. **thinking maybe this is new hobby in the making**

Hi Magic Man! Hey one of these times when you have more time (yeah right!) I would love to hear more about what you do in your business with music and all. Sounds interesting except for the very late nights you have described! I'm trying to remember your day count too (have enough trouble remembering my own shit at this age) but anyway....* * * * *(Magic Man's gold stars)

Pinkie- You need to get those dresses on Ebay! You know the old line "One mans trash..."

Buffy- I TOTALLY agree that the mind is very powerful. I definately changed my mindset. Great job on the sober shopping! Woo hoo! What did you buy me?

Welcome- Tahula!!!! Keep on a posting and keep that mindset : )

Hi Amelia- Nice to meet you here.

DG- Way to Go!!!!!!!!! Weightloss and day 15? Awesome!
Oh crap the pressure is on.
I need to start racking up more mileage to shrink my billboard. I see less selling space in our future.
Right now I could advertise Pinkie's daughters old prom dresses on my rear.

Pinkie- I'd need a commission, of course.

Oh and DG- thanks for banana man. I DO love him : )

Satori- I like your way of thinking. Well said!
Music Man- I predict you'll have a "magical day!!!"

I am entering day 6!!! I plan on sailing over this Wednesday hump! You all are doing so great!!!!!!!! Have a great and healthy day!

                  Morning Music Man
Sounds like you are busy - but sorted!
And thanks again for letting me join your 30 day gang!

                  Morning Doggy!

I'm on six gold stars today and working on my 7th!

Look - See! - ****** Told you - here they are!

Hmm - we seem to be on a similar gig right now - I too have been hitting my own torture mill (ski cross trainer type thing) and anxiously watching my own Ms Scale for some signs of a downward trend too - and YAY! looks like it's finally working!

I am a bit of a fraud becoz I am pretty slim already and only need to lose about 4 pounds more to get back to my normal "racing snake" ideal size - But it is just as hard work at whatever stage!

I was super fit earlier in the year after a skiing vacation in the USA and spending some time hiking and climbing in the mountains in Scotland - but hey - I got lazy and fell off the exercise wagon a bit - as well as over eating / eating the wrong stuff (yes - and drinking a bit too :upset: !)

But the good news is - I CAN see my Abs again! (Admittedly only if I stand in the right spot in the room - just under the window - with the sun just at the right height above the horizon!!!). :H

Ah well - lunch time here in the UK - so I'm off to munch my salad and drink my OJ.

                  Catch you all later

                  Have a good one!

LOL MUSIC man I am so sorry!! I know your screen name and keep messing it up. Before I actually stopped drinking I read and read here and of course read about "Topa Dopa." I'm not even on Topa - just the supps and CD's but I SWEAR I have "Nopa Dopa." I mix things up still and say or type one thing when I'm thinking of a different word. It's not as bad as it was in week 1, but LOL Nopa Dopa is still alive and well in my brain! But hey - magic is cool too, right?

And yes, Doggygirl needs to learn how to make a long story short. A character flaw that I hope is not fatal. That's number 3765475375 in my list of things to work on improving in my life!! And yes, I type fast. I bet your typing speed will get faster too if you hang out here with the HIPPEST AF crowd EVAH for awhile!

Satori congratulations on your improved relationship with Ms. Scale and for being able to see some abs in perfect light. It will be awhile before I can see any abs but I shall keep the faith they are in there somewhere!!

Hey AF - that is a great idea for us to advertise Pinkie's daughter's once worn prom dresses on our Butt Billboards. OK Pinkie - what commissions are you prepared to pay?? You better take this deal now while the gettin' is good Pinkie. These butts aren't going to be Certified Billboards forevah! Congrats on Day 6!! WHEEEE.

GEEZ I am just so happy to be working on putting the BoozeBeast behind me.

Goodmorning everyone, you people must get up on the right side of the bed...I am still trying to wake up and it is 9:30 here. I had a bad night sleeping last night and hubby is an earlybird...I think he was up at 4 or something worried about the stockmarket. I bet the drop yesterday made some of those traders hit the bar after closing bell! I had a great day yesterday, I did almost everything that I planned to do yesterday. Went to the gallery, met the artist-owner, went to a few more, got inspired. I had to do some shopping and everywhere I went strangers came up and talked to me. I must have a different aura because that ususally doesn't happen. I do feel like I have a "lighter" feel, if that makes any sence. When I got home I did a few things in the yard and made an awsome dinner. Went for a 4 mile walk, ran into a friend and talked, and came home exhausted. I didn't get the canvas out...but will today...I am glad you all are doing so well and love reading your posts. MM...it sounds like you are on a roll too!

                          New 30 Day group

Guys, I just went right back to the beginning of this thread and read it from the beginning - thanks for starting it, Music Man! Took me about an hour! My problem with these threads is that by the time I get to the end and am ready to post a reply I have forgotten who siad what and can't reply sounding like I have paid any attention - so am actually now taking "notes" as I read along! In case I don't speak personally to those I should, let me just tell you that you are all collectively great! Also find that I type too slow, and by the time I get my reply in there have been half a dozen posted before me, and I am behind again! Oh well, sure does pass the time, and that's a good thing for me when my hubby (workaholic - hey, do they have a site for that) is still at work.

Janice, Arial, Buffy, hope things are going better for you. Be strong, and lean on us, that's what we are here for.

Music Man - Your computer rant was priceless. Many of us have been there! Glad you didn't throw a brick at your screen or anything - and even better, didn't resort to a little liquid self medicating. Re the bottle of wine looking you straight in the face when you open the fridge...... My hubby is a diabetic. I don't eat sugar in front of him, and I don't keep candy in a candy dish, or anything else around the house that he can't eat. It's just my way of supporting him. Likewise, he knows that since I have started this program, there absolutely will not by any alcohol in the house. If someone brings over a bottle and leaves iot behind, it goes directly down the sink. How 'bout talking to your wife, maybe she would go along with that. We don't need the temptation, I figure.

Re the caffiene, diet coke thing - I haven't drank diet coke since I found out that the phosphoric acide in any cola drink leaches the calcium out of your bones, but I still do enjoy my java. I have switched to half decaf/half real ground coffee when I brew it - can't abide the decaf all my itself - tastes like used motor oil.

Re kids and $ - been there, done that. My baby is now 22 and out paying for his own bills, and wow, what a sense of freedom. Being an empty nester is not too bad, so all of you still out there paying for stuff - that too shall pass.

Day 6 AF, still doing well even with some bad things going on in my life. My hubby has been not drinking either, although don't think he has committed to going AF. We haven't had a real conversation about it until sort of, last night - he'd gone to a men's night at the golf course, and during supper someone walked up to the bar and brought back drinks for everyone, and a rye and coke for him. He said he took about 3 sips out of it, and it hit him like a ton of bricks because he hadn't been drinking for about a week. And he realized that giving this up is a good thing.

There is a thread around here listing good reasons for giving up the booze - here's a really good one - had been reading up on cancer, and things that cause cancer, etc. Turns out that alcohol itself is not carconogenic, i.e., does not cause cancer, but it an enabler to the cancer itself - makes cancer grow faster. Just one more reason to be clean.

Sorry this is so long winded. Not competing with you, DG - you are the master - but better go and do something with my day, have been on line for about 2 hours already!!!!!

Have a good AF day, everyone!
The furture lies before you like newly fallen snow - be careful how you tread it, for every step will show.

Hi Hannah and Happy! Just for you Hannah, I will make this long story short!! Happy I know what you mean about the 30 day threads all getting long - it becomes daunting to consider jumping in. If music man and Buffy think this is worth considering, maybe we could set a max number of pages, then just start a new thread even though in might only be a week or whatever. If people want to, they could include their total AF days, and/or what date they started their 30 day challenge, something like that.

                              Input?????

Geez Hannah even my shorty attempts are too long!! Need a gag for my fingers...

Hi All, Almost midnight so don't have time to read the whole thread. Finished 31 days AF on July 19th then left for vacation. So I just finished DAY 1 AF today and would like to go for at least 30 again (maybe more). Still have a lot to learn. So count me in !!! Thanks. Looks like a fun group !!! I will eventually read up on all the posts !!! Have a great Thursday everyone.
