BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Good morning my AF friends! Thank you Doggy for the new, shorter thread!

Today is my day 21, yep...3 freaking weeks and not a drop! Thanks to all, too many to list, for your support, guidence, advice and stories/posts.

Doggy, I think we would all agree, a huge thanks to you for your continued enthusasim and humor!

My favorite part of being AF is that every morning I remember what I did and said the night before. It seems like a lifetime since I could do that and it feels great!

This morning I am powered up with motivaiton, V-8 and All in One and supps and I think I hear my bike calling...."hey fat @$$, come ride me!"

So, off I go..have a great day no matter if it is your 1st or your 31st!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Hello all! We'll try a weekly thing for awhile. If anyone thinks of something that should be included in the introduction post, let me know and I'll edit it in. Hope the title is OK and all of that jazz.

**waving** to all since my last post yesterday!

      Hi Diamond!

Janice - I'm so happy that you are back on the wagon for you AND your Dad. I bet he is proud and smiling on you. Come here any time, and I'll sure see you on the Newbies thread. I'll take all the support I can get!

Satori - congratulations on Day 14!!!!! It really is unbelievable isn't it? To have a stretch like this when we haven't had one even close for so many, many years.

Hannah - I believe you're on Day 13 Bakers Dozen Day now right? You are doing so awesome - especially while you are also dealing with your family situation / Brother in-law. I admire your strength. Drinking would do nothing to improve things, but I'm sure it would be very easy to do anyway.

Congrats on hitting Day 5 Dingo!! And 2 weeks without the smokes too is awesome. We will keep your secret about watching King of the Hill.

      Hi Arial!

Hi AF! - It's Day 13 for you today, right? Also a Bakers Dozen Day IIRC!

I remember a week or maybe a little more ago when Satori told us all that he has abs, and he knows this because he can see them if he stands in a certain window when the light is just so. Of course than got me wondering if I have an ab. I couldn't see any no matter where or when I looked for one. So yesterday I thought to myself "aha! If I can do a few reps on the Torture Trak oops I mean Torso Trak maybe I will find an ab!" So yesterday morning I did 10 paltry reps on that thing. Today, I can absolutely verify that I have at least one ab, and possibly two as they actually talk! In fact they are talking LOUDLY to me today. So see Satori? You are not the only one with abs around here.

Yesterday was a good day all around. No bad cravings for drinking or smoking. For some reason, I wanted to eat the chair legs, but I did resist. I am now down a total of 8 pounds in addition to being on Day 22 AF and Day 155 smoke free. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

Have a very happy and productive AF day everyone!

Whew - thanks for starting the new 30 days (lite) thread Doggy!

Yep - life is pretty good - real busy - but still getting a lot more done than I would have had I still been wasting every evening / weekend drinking!

Still seem to be tired in the mornings - but at least I am not hung over any more! Tired I can cope with!

OK - you want loud and proud

          Here y'go

          *************
13 stars and working on day 14! :disco:

That loud enough? I can turn the volume up a bit if you like!

I'm pretty sure that is the longest AF stretch for more than 20 years!

So far - doing fine - actually beginning to feel like this is the norm for me and not thinking nearly so much about drinking as I used to.
Didn't really think about drinking last night at all that I can remember.

Ah well - better go do some work type thingies -
Congrats to all on here for successes to date!

          Talk to you all later

Doogy G- Great new thread. Excellent job explaining it too. You are a wonderful, fearless leader. You always start my morning out with a caffeined jolt and a hearty laugh. Oh there I go again with my academy speech. Where are my tissues???? Yep it's day 13. Lucky 13!!!!!

Hannah- Fuze Slenderize is yummo. I found it at K-Mart by the Propel ect... They have other Fuze drinks but the Slenderize one has low calories and has vitamins in it. I like to drink it during the witching hour as my special treat.

Hi Arial- Hope all is well with you! : )

Diamond- I am thanking you right back. You are MY weightloss inspiration. I figure I should be able to lose 10 if you did what you did!!!!!!

Go Pinkie, Go! Enjoy that bike ride and don't run me down if you see me jogging (the plodder) on the street.

Satori- Thanks for the morning laugh. Scotland is on the Almostfamous family "must see" list (hubby is golf obsessed and I am a wee bit Scottish myself) and I WILL find her ; ) DD has a Scottish name but I won't divulge it to you incase there is a detective out there that might figure out who I really am. Like an old neighbor or something-ha!

Janice- Hang in there. You sound like you are moving in a positive diection. Check back!

Hi to Buffy, Music Man, Paddy and everyone else that I forgot or that jumps on board. Welcome and enjoy the ride!!!!!

LOL - I know that feeling only too well DG!

Some days after a particularly hard gym session or climbing session I'm sure that even people on the other side of the street must hear my poor muscles yelling!
But then - I've always overdone EVERYTHING!

Well done on the 8 pounds! :goodjob:

At this rate, you will soon have rock hard, washboard abs to show off, your rear end will not be generating any more advertising revenue and you will be alcohol, caffeine and ciggies free!

All of this achieved while saving large amounts of money, getting healthy, living longer, not feeling like crap every morning and having the stress / anxiety of hating yourself, lying to your loved ones etc etc .........

This AF lark is a no brainer really isn't it!

HEY Satori and AF - I cannot believe the title of the e-mail I just got from Amazon. YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP. Here goes - this is a cut and paste:

We Pay YOU for Overnight Shipping on Shoes & Handbags

AF I was sure you would want to know this. And Satori, do NOT keep this little secret from She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO). I'm sure this applies to international shipments, oh yes I'm sure.

Congrats AF on Day 13!!! And congrats Satori on Day 14!!!

Satori, shout those stats as loud as you want. Just tell my abs to shut the sam hill up OK? I totally agree that there are so many benefits to NOT drinking - why would I ever do it again? The list of benefits is what I run through my head any time the thought of drinking occurs. The temptations will be strong sometimes, I'm certain of that. I just want my benefits list to always be louder and stronger than the temptations.

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Happy August 1st everyone! - and thank you for starting this new thread, DG - brilliant intro, and many congratulations on all you've achieved so far :goodjob: - drink, cigarettes, weight - it's funny how at certain times in your life the timing is just right and maybe this is one of those times for you - I think you should add bonus stars for the extra achievements!

Satori - I hear you loud and clear and as I join you on day 14 I see no reason to not turn the volume up - though actually I'm facing a barbecue this evening which I always find difficult - have stocked up on AF beer to see me through so hopefully that will do the trick but maybe I won't shout too loudly yet...

And Almostfamous - you're at the same place so good going! - looking forward to a lively cyber celebration when we hit 30! (almost half way there now!)

Pinkie - 21 :yougo: !!3 weeks and going strong - any plans for when you hit 30 - keep AF or try moderation?

It's funny that when you make the list of all the reasons for not drinking, as Satori says, what's the dilemna? What's to decide? What's the problem?!!! But it is still there - the temptation, the nagging, the voices trying to over-ride reason. So I'm armed and dangerous (well, maybe not quite so wimpy as usual anyway) and AF will prevail! Actually I've decided to set a goal each week of something to achieve now I'm not drinking again. My list of things to do is getting longer but I have to get over the procrastination and put it all into action - so this week it's pretty mundane - get my taxes sorted, and my car registered - the taxes are now 2 months late so looking at hefty fine probably, and car is now illegally on the road - see, procrastination!. Also kick start excercise routine - starting slowly but need to get it up to speed!

Got to run I'm afraid as barbecue needs to be organised. Catch up with you all soon, so :hallo: to all to come - have a wonderful day and take care x

Greetings all. Today is day one for me. Well actually it will be day one when I make it past midnight without drinking. My weakness is beer, at least 6 per day, sometimes 10. I have never made it to 30 days, but am determined to do it this time. Thanks to y'all.

Satori - WHEW I'm glad you got that notification off your screen before SWMBO saw it!!

Arial, YOU CAN DO THIS for the BBQ. If it's at your house, sneak in here and touch the Life Line if you need to. We will all be rooting for you!!

Hi Janice!! Hey - treasure every one of those stars!! Congratulations on Day 2 - I hope it's a great one.

Welcome Phil. WE CAN DO THIS!! One star at a time. We'll have the pom poms out at midnight, and you DON'T want to miss THAT one in your imagination. (I use my ass right now as a billboard to advertise stuff)

                            **waving to Accountable!!**

I am amazed at some of the changes going on. (or maybe I should say "hopeful" rather than "amazed.") Certain health related things were REALLY starting to scare me around the time I decided the madness had to stop. My left foot was getting so painful I couldn't hardly walk at all without limping, and my left ankle would be majorly swolen by mid day - like now for me (up at 4:30 again today). My left foot is feeling really good today - nearly pain free and for the first time in ages there is practically no swelling in my left anke.

I am hanging onto the belief that the positive changes are adding up to some healing on the inside physically. I sure hope so.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Satori, I couldn't hear you from here, could you turn the volume up a little please? LOL

DG..You are great to read as usual...and I so agree with the physical changes. I was beginning to feel like a stuffed kielbasa (my Lithuanian grandmother's sausage) from all the bloating but now my arms, legs and fingers look my own again. My rings even come off without vaseline !!

Thinking of you and your family Hannah !!

Hi to Arial, AF, Pinkie, Melissa and all I have missed. Welcome Phi.
