BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

GOOD MORNING BOOZE BUSTERS!!!!! Pinkie thanks a bunch for welcoming our new Booze Busters and all that jazz yesterday. CONGRATULATIONS on day 27 today!! Wow...

Gotta get up pretty early in the morning to beat Satori to the workout, that's for sure. Satori, I just KNOW you were extra motivated for your swim today just at the THOUGHT of trying out for thour all male cheerleading squad. I didn't see any mention of abs in your qualifications though. Maybe the light wasn't right yesterday. Anyway...congratulations on Day 20 with a "Two"!!!!!

Hannah congratulations on Day 18! That rocks. Good for you getting out and playing find the golf balls oops I mean golf. (find the golf balls is what I play...) If you sit around and stop living yourself, that doesn't help anyone or anything, or set you up to be better able to support your sister when she will need you the most. (((Hannah)))

AFM happy day 7!!! You still sound terrific and I'm happy for you.

Congratulation on another AF day to all who have posted since I last did "full detail"!!!!!!

Hey - I think we should start a new tradition. As active 30 day challenge Booze Busters hit 30 days, and n2itiv did Saturday, I think we should give that person a celebration thread in the Monthly abstainers section. That way other abstainers who are not partaking of the 30 day challenge can help with the celebration. What do you think? And you don't have to wait for me to do it - whoever first sees someone announce their 30 days and has a few minutes can start it. Hmmm.... I shall go start a thread for n2itiv!

News report from yesterday. Dad is doing great. This was an annual check up from an artery repair that was done a few years ago. They used a fairly new procedure (less invasive than the previous standards) to fix it, so they have been vigilent in their follow ups. Dad had a lightness in his step when we left. I can also resport that the Dan Ryan is still under massive construction - so no worries. Everything is normal as it has been for many years past, and probably shall be for many years to come.

I have done my time on the dreadmill today already. I LOVE getting that baby out of the way early. Good thing too - once I'm fully awake it's too late - I would never get it done. After about a week stretch of Mr. Scale taking a long nap or something, Mr. Scale was finally good to me again today. Life is good!

            Might do!.........

Oh OK - I'm just a fraction under 6 feet!

But - you dont know what you would be missin'!!!!!
I think you should waive the entry requirements for "SPECIAL" cases!

Satori, Hmmm...special cases, huh? THe Quit Sistas are going to have to mull this over and get back to you. Do you do any special tricks to make up for the fraction you are short (no pun intended!)?

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

HI everyone, Thought I would check in before I head to bed.

A little late but congratulations Piggy on making it thru your party on Sat. I was thinking of you. Almost to your 30 days !!!

Hannah, you are doing fantastic! Still keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs coming your way !

Starlight, so glad to see you have joined this crazy bunch. Good for you on 9 (or am I behind now?) days.

Satori, I think I have some leftover tickets, not wine or beer, but handbag and shoes, that I would trade for a seat to see that male cheerleading squad that you will be leading. Just name the time and place. :H Oh, and CONGRATS on your great progress, I know it is close, Day 20, probably 21 by the time you read this.

Hi to Arial, glad your paperwork is straightened out finally.

Welcome to Chief, Talula and whoever else I have missed (Sorry !!)

DG Thanks :thanks: for keeping us all motivated and having fun. Surviving the Dan Ryan sounds something like surviving the BIG DIG. Hope to check in tomorrow.

P.S. Just finishing AF Day 14 here.

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Hey, DG, good to see you back, glad everything is well with your Dad. 28 days eh? Wow, have to start laying in the noise makers and party hats!!!!! Hope you are going to stick around with us up and coming 30 dayers we'll sulk :sulk: if you don't!

Satori - :bigwink: Watch it, you're making me blush!

Starlight - You are amazing. Is this the same starlight of barely a week ago? How far you have come, good for you! *********Don't forget to take your stars!

News on the home front - Guerrino is back on IV, at least. What a roller coaster ride of emotions this is for the whole family. One piece of good news that we got today is that a friend of ours who was on the waiting list for a double lung transplant got his transplant on Sunday - which was his birthday! Talk about a good birthday present!

Hubby is golfing at men's night tonite, which means I get the computer early - yay!!! Usually I am peering bleary eyed at the screen just before I crawl into bed for the night and tonight I can actually spend some time catching up on all the other threads too.

******************* 19 days, loud & proud! And on to the "2" in front tomorrow! Have a great AF day again tomorrow, fellow absters!:bye:

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Morning BB Bros and Quit Sistas.

Another gorgeous day in Sunny Scotland.

But - I am not happy! - some of my friends who work in the offshore oil industry here have rotas that mean they are working for a period offshore , then have a couple of weeks (or more) "on the beach" (ie back home on dry land).
Well - since the weather is now so good - they have all disappeared into the mountains to climb for a few days - and I am stuck here at work!!!!! AAAAARGH!:upset:

Bet by the weekend the weather is terrible again!

                    Ho Hum, such is life!

                    Anyway - to business.

                    How is everyone doing?

Starlight - this must be day 10 for you - double figures - that is pure dead brulliant so it is!

Doggy - day 29! What you gonna do to celebrate?
An extra celebratory session or two on the dreadmill, or perhaps taking a large hammer to Mr Scale?? No matter what you chose to do - YOU DESERVE IT! Well Done!
As to me getting up early to swim - believe me - that was an abberation - As you know - I don't normally do mornings - I just kind of stupidly agreed to go along with my mates - and I can't even use the excuse that I was drunk at the time!!!

Lilac - looks like you can hold on to your handbag vouchers - don't think I meet the height requirements for the cheerleading squad - The Quit Sistas are holding a special meeting to discuss my case tho' - so you never know!!! (Personally - I think Pinkie is trying to dominate the proceedings coz she likes tall pom pom shakers! so if it goes to a vote, I may be in with a chance!)

Hannah - Sorry - didn't mean to make you blush - I have to admit, that is not the usual reaction when Satori offers to shake his pom poms for a lady, it is usually either a) helpless tears of laughter or b) a punch in the mouth! .

Glad to see you are still holding up - Hugs coming your way!

Hi Arial, Chief , Tahlula - still on track???? Haven't seen you for a day or two.

Well - I was at the gym again last night - honing "the Ab" - and I didn't go to the bar afterwards - but I have a really sore head again this morning!

There is a pattern emerging here - my investigative skills are coming to the conclusion that I must be getting dehydrated. I thought I was drinking enough water before, during and after the session - but perhaps I need even more. I shall try that next gym session on Thursday.

Well - better go and get some work done for a while - talk to you later!

                    Off to polish my stars

                    Day 21 for me!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Hello - tis me... Morning from sunny south west uk... May I join in?

You're all doing soooh well. It's lovely to read all your posts - this seems a really energetic thread... of course, with DG at the helm! Thanks DG.

My son and I went to the beach yesterday and flew a kite - it was brill - and then we had cokes at the beach bar and I barely noticed there was booze there as well. (Jolly well knew there was as I've drunk it there many a time!) That felt really good!

I'm aware that there is a wonderful thing on my horizon in my eldest daughter's wedding 'up-country' (250 miles = a 'HA!' to you USA guys!!!) on 1st Sept. No heavy drinkers that I know about but will be going back into a world I left 8 years ago when I moved west and 28 years ago when her Dad and I split up. So a few heartfelt memories plus my Mum and Dad there (not brilliant that!) and 'Mum of the Bride' emotions flying about I guess!!! My other daughter singing and my son reading - hankies at the ready!

Think I can do it ok as when I imagine having a drink I don't want it - I'll do the weekend without a hangover (yea!) and remember everything and feel well (I hope!) and so that's great - but.................. you know, what if I pick up someone else's drink that isn't Elderflower Fizz or, or, or................ Not particularly worried about anyone asking me why I'm not drinking - they don't know I did really (started getting really bad when I moved down here!)and my Mum gave up at the menopause anyway so I'm using that. But I think I'm worrying about the event more than I realise so I thought I'd just put it here. Thanks for listening!

Thanks for being there and I'm off to take the day! About 75 days but I'm not really counting as I prefer to just do one day at a time - I feel really good at one level but not that complacent just because it's '75'!! Right now, at this minute it feels good and that's good enough for me!

Good luck all - FMF x

Hiya Feet - still not found them eh?

                        Where did you put them?
Bet they are in the last place you look!!!!

Come on in! Join the gang - we are all a little bit mad here - but I'm sure most of us are harmless!

75(ish) days :wow: Wow - you will be a tough act to follow!

If you are that far along, I'm sure the wedding will be just fine!

By the way - if the Quit Sistas ask you to vote on the Cheerleader thing - put in a good word for me would ya? Otherwise all my hard work in the gym honing "the ab" will have been in vain!

Anyway - enough of my ramblings - good to have you here!

                        See you around!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1

Good *insert time of day here* BOOZE BUSTERS!!! The rocket fuel is back in my Kudzu folks, so look out world here I come. IT'S DAY 29!!!!!

Hi Lilac!! Congratulations on Day 14, and welcome to day 15! You're a Tweener - half way 'tween 0 and 30 days!!! Good to know you are lookin' for a front row seat for our Booze Busters All Male Cheerleading Review. I promise we will get the line up settled in time for all the upcoming 30 Day victory celebrations. I'm sure SWMBO would LOVE a few spare show and handbag tickets!

Hannah, congrats on Day 19 and welcome to day 20! Doesn't it feel good to start using that "2" in your gold star winning numbers? You are closing in fast girl! Isn't it great to be SOBER in the late evening? (or in my case, in the early evening or even late afternoon!) Hope Mr. Hannah had fun at golf with the boys night. Hey - don't think you can get rid of me THAT easy. I plan to be here LONG after my first 30 days are done. **note to Booze Busters...go off and ask the great pumpkin what you did bad in your previous life to deserve that... **

Finding My Feet - CONGRATULATIONS on 75 days!! That is awsome. Keep popping in to collect your gold stars and we'll throw a bash when you get to 90 - 3X30 day challenge! I bet you will have fun at your daughter's wedding without booze. I bet the time will fly by way too fast. Take lots of pictures!! Bring many tissues!! What does "Brill" mean? Kite flying at the beach sounds fun!

Satori, the Double Digit Quit Sistas are carefully considering your qualifications for the Booze Busters All Male Cheerleading Squad. Here is a critical question. Do you have any friends over 6' tall who might qualify along with you? Now I realize that NONE of ANYONE's friends are likely to meet all of your very high standards. I'm just talking about a few reasonable qualifications like 1) bathes, 2) can see a few abs if the light is right, 3) has teeth, you know...stuff like that. Such a friend MIGHT allow me to persuade Pinkie.

Congratulations on Day 21!! Your collection is lookin' good. Sorry the weather is finally good and it's during the week where you can't go to the mountains with your buddies. :upset: Hopefully it will stay nice through the weekend. Hope you figure out what is causing the headaches. If you've been making a good effort to stay hydrated, maybe an important mineral is getting depleted and not replenished with water alone? Potassium maybe? Just a thought..(yeah, like I know anything meaningful about what happens when you seriously exercise!! wanna hear my theories on fixing global warming?)

Yepper - the dreadmill is done for the day. I am up to a paltry 18 minutes. The machine says I am burning an AMAZING (are you sitting down??) 95 calories now with this workout!! I am also up to an incredible 15 reps on the Torture Trak - you know, that ab thingamabobby.

I'm a little sad today as I will be taking Kimba (the Shepherd in my avatar) to be spayed today. She is a beautiful dog - should be bred for sure. But she has hormone issues. In addition to losing two litters half way through, she has had a false pregnancy and also - the scariest thing when you own an intact female - a Pyometra - that is one potentially deadly infection. She is high risk for another. So since she is having such trouble holding a litter to term, we are notwilling to take the risk. So...the hope of pups ends today. I know it's the right thing...but it's still a bit sad.

But on a bright note - NO FRICKIN" WAY will I drink today. NOPE. Tomorrow at 4PM CST I will officially complete 30 days since my last drink and I am WAY excited about that. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my AF life. Indeed it WOULD be Grave to Cave to the Crave(tm). There is no amount of "feel good" in a bottle of wine or vodka or any booze that could possibly eclipse the happiness I feel in having FREEDOM from that momentary "feel good" which is really PRISON complete with ball and chain.

So...I plan to make it an awesome AF day, and I hope all the Booze Busters are with me on that one!!! OH - and I plan to stick around for another 30 days after this one is done. It's more fun than drinking that is for DARN sure!!

As for everyone else, we will not wait for you at the line but we will be happy to come back and celebrate with you when you cross it. And remember, Satori and his friends will be there to "cheer" you on as well!! Anyone that might need a little help, just let us know and we will be happy to drag your @$$ across, kicking and screaming if necessary!
