A very quick 'hello' and 'goodbye' as I'm on 1am taxi service! Just had to ask, Satori - where did you get a copy of my photo??? - and strange red colour - is there a problem with that?!!! Don't forget the canvas and rope shoes with the backs trodden down, the hat for special occasions, sunglasses on top of the wonderful red - and you've got a pretty accurate picture - what a babe!
Accountable - I just want to add how pleased I was to read your post and hear how wonderfully well your appointment went, and the confidence that comes through your words - congratulations on your commitment and staying power - it really does sound like the whole programme will now come together and help set the basis for a much happier future - it's fabulous news - well worthy of a good celebration!
And Pinkie, extra gold stars for your amazing strength and will power! You did it  ! and you're now that bit even stronger!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
A quick Friday cocktail hour post
It is 6pm in my neck of the woods on a lovely summer evening.
I just returned from work to see that the kiddos and my wife have gone for an early movie (Harry Potter). Just two weeks ago I'd be well into a third beer by now (in their absence), but instead I have read today's Buster posts with interest.
It is amazing how comforting it is to read similar stories, strengths and challenges as my own from these pages authored in France, Scottland, IL, TX, S.E. England and other unknown parts.
Thank you all for you part in the journey. Good evening everyone.

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
Hello everyone..happy Friday!
Doggy and AF, you are going to have to stop with this morning physical routine, you are making the rest of us look back!
Satori, as a mother of one of those 17 year old cheerleaders...if SWMBO doesnt kick your @$$, I will! Now, smack yourself upside the head for thinking like that, you dirty old man!
Accountable, sounds like the meds are already kicking in, glad to hear that! Stay with it.
Arial, thanks for your kind words. Being able to cover taxi duty sure beats trying to figure some way around driving at all.
Now, I need everyones help!!! Tomorrow is a big day for me. I am responsible for throwing my Chief's retirement party, I have to be there from beginning to end (4pm-??), there will be over 220 guests, its at a restaurant/bar and there will be a lot of heavy drinking. (shhh, dont tell but sometimes cops drink too!)
Anyway, everyone there will be expecting me to partake in the celebrating by drinking copious amounts of alcohol, as I usually do. I am going to try to refrain so that I can collect my 24th gold star with pride but I am scared to death of failing...myself! If you could all please send me strength throughout the day, it would be much appreciated as I will not have access to log on to "touch the life line" as Doggy calls it. Obviously, I think I will need all the help I can get and am turning to all of you for guidence, good thoughts, wisdom etc. Please feel free to threaten me, beat me, whip me, whatever it takes to keep me in line!
Thanks in advance
Pinkie

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
July,
It is amazing how so many of us have the same of similar problems and stories. The best part about that is that we have all found each other and are able to use our similarities and our differences to help each other along the way. Thanks for reminding me of that and congratulations on day 8!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
Pinkie, Good Luck tomorrow. Sending much encouragement your way. I will be thinking of you and sending you good vibes all day long !!! My favorite non-alcoholic drink is club soda (that is just carbonated water--no sugar for non-US folks) with a dash of cranberry juice and a wedge of lime. It tastes good (to me) and looks like a drink also. Maybe that will work !! Have fun (if you are not too stressed !!)Lilac

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
Hanging in there!
Shouting loud and proud:
:dancin: ***************:dancin:
This was TGIF day in so many ways! Got up as usual at 5:30, did sleep last night but sure didn't feel like it, and have an eye infection in my left eye, so eye all swollen and crusty, nice way to start the day. Spent about 1/2 hour farting around (the only kind of farting we womenfolk actually do, right DG?) with my HAIR - and still looked like I had slept in a wind tunnel, so gave up on it. Just not gonna be a good hair day..... I have mentioned I run a post office? Anyone who works a counter anywhere will relate to this - this afternoon a young woman came in and said "Can I have my mail?" I am thinking to myself, "Duh, well sure you can - stick your key in your mail box and turn..... presto! You have your mail!' Ongoing problem - we are not supposed to give out mail over the counter.:sigh: So I kindly inquire "Do you not have your key?" "No, can I get another one?" Next question "Do you have some identification with you?"......."No, I don't have it with me." (again with the sigh) "I'm sorry , I can't give you your mail without proper ID"....."Why not, it's my mail!". :sigh: "Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not supposed to give out the mail across the counter, you are supposed to use your key, and I certainly can't give out mail if I can't verify that you are who you say you are!". I was showing great restraint at this point - really, how dumb can you get? Kind of like walking into the bank and saying, "You don't know who I am, but my brother just told me to tell you to give me $500.00 out of his account". Honestly. So, after a few choice words, the customer left.
I hadn't been too sure that I was going to the gym on the way home, but this little incident was kind of the topper on my day and I realized I'd better work off some steam before I went home or hubby's will have one bitchy wife (DG, can I borrow your T-Shirt) on his hands. So I did go, and worked up a good sweat and then cam home and took my own doggygiirl for a brisk walk, ate some cold pasta salad and here I am doing my new most favorite thing - logging in and catching up.
I have had a few episodes of "God, would I love a drink" and salivating at the thought, but have managed to keep the Boozebeast in his lair. Funny that it's harder now than at the beginning, but maybe that's because the novelty has worn off or something? And the devil on the one shoulder is arguing with the angel on the other and saying "Oh, just one little drink.....come on......what would it hurt?........" BUT - I know darn well what it would hurt, and am determined to get over this speed bump on the road to a much better place.
Accountable - So happy you seem to have found the right treatment options for you. How much of a relief that must be. It's so nice to hear you upbeat! Good luck!
Doggygirl: 24!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my!!!!!!!!!! Congrats all over the place!!!!!!!
Almost Famous, and DG both - Dear God, what do you eat for breakfast? Rocket fuel? No one should have that much energy that early in the a.m.!!!!!
Arial - Are you legal behind the wheel now? Did you have to sell off your first born child or anything like that?
Pinkie - Good luck on the retirement party. Here's an idea - say you have recently been put on some kind of medication that you can't have a drink with (the bonus here is that people USUALLY are somewhat reluctant to ask what kind of medication, and what for, so you will leave them too busy wondering what kind of strange ailment (Hmmmm.....all kinds of possibilities here) that they won't even focus on your not drinking!
July - Boy, do I agree with you. I think it's just awesome to be able to chat with all these great folks from all over the world, and what a great support group we have going here!
And with that I will say good night, between me and DG you guys are going to starve to death - E-mailing you popcorn!
Happy TGIF guys, stay on track, and I'll catch you on the boards tomorrow! The furture lies before you like newly fallen snow - be careful how you tread it, for every step will show.

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
Hee hee - In honor of Hannah's last post and last comment re: her and I causing people to go hungry from our long posts.....maybe we should rename this thing:
BOOZE BUSTERS 30 DAY AF CHALLENGE AND DIET THREAD
Good day all!
Accountable you sound so bright and optimistic in your post yesterday. I hope last night was equally good for you and that you are feeling great today.
Janice congtatulations on Day 4 and now on Day 5. ***** you DESERVE those gold stars always, but especially on the weekends where hubby drinks in mod.
Arial, I'm LOL with the visual you and Satori created of the um....French Lady Look - oh my - the color of red hair you have never seen before and the whole getup. I will forever think of that image Arial when I see posts from you. OH NO!!!! Hope the car registration thing worked out.
July - Welcome to AF day 9!! You are rackin' up those stars quickly. It is really cool to get to know people all over the world isn't it. With such a fine group of folks, we should kick all the politicians to the curb and figure out the REAL solution to world peace!! Reading posts here really is more interesting than drinking alone, isn't it?
Hi Lilace!! **waving**
Hannah, I LURVE your loud and proud 15 stars. You GO girl! LOL on your bad hair day and bad post office day. A good friend of mine all the way back to high school works for the post office in our old home town. OH MY the stories she tells. Good for you on your workout and completion of another AF day!
Now Pinkie. I will personally kick your a$$ if you cave in. DO NOT. Please tell yourself that you can have an entire bottle of wine starting at noon TOMORROW if you want to, but you will NOT drink tonight or in the wee hours of Sunday during this party -NOT NOT NOT. You birthed 2 babies. If you can do THAT, you can handle 4PM CST today through 2AM or ?? without drinking - I know you can. I know it will be hard - no doubt about that. But you my girl are made of STRONG stuff. Remember the trick about L-Glut - break the cap and put powder under your tongue if you need to. Did you get your Kudzu order yet? Take 10 - well, you know what I mean. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!! You've worked really hard to get to day 24, and no matter how good a drink might taste in the moment, I know you would be kicking your OWN self in the a$$ tomorrow if you give in. Getting your a$$ kicked in by yourself and others is NOT a recommended weight loss plan. You may not have access to the 3D life line, but the virtual life line is there. We will all be in your mind tonight cheering you on because we know you can do it!
In the words of July, "Don't Cave to the Crave(tm)"
Today is dog training day which is my toughest spot each week. One thing is for sure, I will not Cave to the Crave(tm) today.
Happy AF Saturday everyone!! (or whatever day it is in your zone!)

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Challenge - Week of 8/1
Here's to a Better Day Today!
Just finished cleaning the basement, needed a break before I tackle upstairs, so thought I'd check up on everybody.
Starlight Impress - You are a BoozeBuster! :kudos: to you on Day 6 AF! and hell yes, you can take on the world. You go, girl! So glad you decided this was "the time to do this"!
Motie - Welcome! You have come to a great place, so may of us have found this site to be our salvation, and I hope you will too. There is lots of good advice and support here, just keep reading and posting, and good luck to you!
Pinkie, again, good luck today. You can do it.
Quick note re Guerrino - talked to my sis last night, and he has officially been discharged and at home now with nursing support. Other than being horribly depressed, he is doing as well as can be expected. Wendy tells me she gets more support from our many lengthy phone calls than anything else, but if she needs me in person she knows I will be there at a drop of a hat.
Better hair day today, eye not so crusty - things are looking up for me, anyhow. Am going to tackle the upstairs now (I do have a cleaning lady too, comes in every 2nd week, leaves me with just enough work to do that I don't feel totally slovenly - but she is taking next week off so it is all up to me this go round. Funny how it's not so bad when you are not hungover!:rays:
By the way, I don't think this looks remotely like Alf. Could he be our BoozeBuster logo?:alf: Votes please! The furture lies before you like newly fallen snow - be careful how you tread it, for every step will show.
