Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

Hey all: sounds like "CRAZY BUSY" is the theme of the day with and extra dose of CRAZY thrown in.

Just did a quick read through and it sounds like everyone is doing well(ish) and that no one has had to resort to drinking, homicide or other unspeakable acts to get through their day :H .

I'll check back in later, need to get some food on for dinner. Hope everyone continues to do well.
    Love and Peace

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

        Welcome, Vinophile

Welcome to this slightly nutty but awesome thread. We sure will kick your butt if you fail, but then help you to your feet to start again. Support is the name of the game, and you'll find lots of it here.

Well, my little DG is home now. Still sleeping off her day in her pen. The bill - be still my beating heart - $479.16. :eeks: But she has a lovely smile! No, not all for her teeth. Also bought a case of the Rx food she is on all the time, and had her "microchip"ped, so that if she gets lost they can "scan" her (just like buying groceries!) and find out who she belongs to. She is our most expensive hobby, you might say.

So, with hubby's birthday present, the new coffee pot, and vet bill, I have racked up almost $1,000 on the Mastercard today. Yikes! Oh well, in the old days I would have also included a big bottle of wine to soften the blow. . . .

May not start the "vet" thread today, but soon - unless one of youse beets me to it, feel free to start it, DG, or whomever.:hallo:

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

          Hello my friends!

Well day 5 was SOOOO much easier than day 4! So, VENOPHILE, keep your chin up and stay hooked in here. It is what I did and got over yesterday. I don't know why, but as everyone says, day three and four are the hardest. I think you are right.. it is easier to think about starting over when you only have those few days. Now I just don't want to go through it again.

Off to drive home. Tired and ache from working so hard today... a good nights sleep into day 6!!!

          love to all...

          MM

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

            Hello Booze Busters,

Welcome back Vinophile. I remember your post about your weekend that you dreaded about picking your son up and having to stay at a hotel in Maine with 3 bars. And, how it did'nt turn out that way and you came back to Boston and were not tempted. Life can sometimes be wonderful like that--the thing we think we fear turns up not to actually be there when we get to it. Keep at it and your days will link together until your at 30. Success in this group is just 30 days AF when you say no to failure. You deceide when you're ready and how far you want to go.

Deb, a day like yours today makes us all happy to be just reading about it.:H

DG, Pinkie, Satorie, Chief keep up the star collection. Yes, Satorie I've noticed a siginificant difference in my daily running. I have been a life long runner and I forgot how much I really enjoy feeling a clean body work. It is almost like I am returning to a younger time in my life.

Rob, I appreciate your thought and remeberances of your cousin's Down Syndrome. My special daughter keeps it real at our house. The two siblings--one older, one younger are her biggest defenders. To her they are heros.

FMF, Buffy, Rob2, MM and everyone else have a great night.

DG - Sorry, didn't mean to ignore you! Thanks for the advice re business proposals, and not surprised by anything you said. Could be interesting. What I am really hoping for is that hubby's job just becomes a little more enjoyable, and he loses interest in starting his own business!!!!!!!:thanks:

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

                Good morning everyone,
I'm in unchartered territory being on day 11 AF. It's been years
since I made it anywhere near this far. I believe I may be one of the lucky ones who take Topa with minimal side effects and have it work at a low dosage (50 mg). I keep waiting for the strong cravings to come in the late afternoon with visions of the Clydesdales dancing through my head and it just doesn't happen. Miracles will never cease!
                Have a great day, all.

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

HELLO BOOZE BUSTERS!!! It's Day 44 here and a fine day so far. But I'll qualify that by also saying it is 5:50AM. Dreadmill and Torture trak are done (didn't get to the Bowflex plan for exercises yesterday), so there is at least ONE good thing for the day!

Hello to all since I last posted yesterday!

AF, Happy Day 12!! I hear you on the weight training needs. I had this *hope* of weight just FALLING off after giving up the booze cals and starting Dreadmill, etc. NOT. I have lost some but I guess things really do slow down with age. I think weight training will help in the inches department. SNL is one of my favorite shows - especially certain years in the past. Yep - "Pump you up!"

MM - Welcome to Day 6!! Glad day 5 was easier than 4. Good for you getting over that hump and also being motivated to NEVER go back and re-do that one. You're a butterfly!!!! WHEE!!!! Sounds like the cleanse is making you feel really good, in addition to not drinking, etc.

Satori! Glad the sun is out for you. Congrats on Day 36 and LOL at Big Hairy Booze Beast Butt Booting(tm)!

Buffy, welcome to Day 5. I hope like MM and others have mentioned, today is better than Day 4. ****SLEEP ALERT**** MUST GET SOME VALERIAN! Thanks for that tip. I'm sure I won't be the only one looking into that!

Hannah welcome to day 35 and may it be far less sh!tty than yesterday. Oh My. I'm glad you saved your floor. VERY glad that little dg is doing well. Yeah. The vet bill thread. Bleh. What kind of coffee maker did you get? I just had to throw away a piece of sh!t one that was less than a year old. I ordered a Krupps brand one for 50 bucks just for the basic coffee making functions. This one better last longer than a year.

'Finding' - hello and I will try to keep your name change straight. (no promises - old habits die hard!) Congrats on about Day 88

Welcome back vinophile!!!!!!!!! Welcome to Day 5 and may it be better than Day 4. You and Buffy are Quit Sistas now. HEY - you say you need your butt kicked? You've come to the right place! Here is the Fugly Green Suit.... yes, you absolutely have to wear it - that's a requirement so hurry up already.....*tapping foot impatiently*...... OK. Here goes! kickbu_c - Fotosearch Stock Photography

rob - you got that right - CRAZY BUSY with an extra dose of CRAZY!!

July, your party is coming up soon!!!!!!!

Rob2, Happy day 11. I know what you mean about uncharted territory. I don't think I strung more than 2 days AF together in countless many years before MWO. WE CAN DO THIS. Glad the Topa is working at a low dose and without icky side effects!!! That rocks.

Where oh where is Lilac???? Today is supposed to be her 30 Day party I think. We must SEND OUT THE SEARCH PARTY and find her, then have the REAL PARTY!!!

I was really stressed out in the first half of the day yesterday over something Mr. Doggy did. BOY did I think about drinking. But it turned out to be a good reminder that I quit drinking for ME. Not for anyone else. And I'm not gonna blow this over anyone else. (and of course me and Mr.Doggy are fine - we talked it over as we've done for 10 years LOL!)

Today is going to be another busy one. So....over and out for now! Hi to all who pop in later! Have a Big Hairy Booze Beast Butt Booting (tm Satori) day!!!!!

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

                    Good mornin all:

DG- Glad to see our bright and early cheerleader is here, always a great pick me up first thing in the am, especially when I'm having a little trouble clearing the night time fog from my head. Hope you are ready to "pump you up" with your Bow Flex soon.

Hannah- New bussiness, scarey stuff, what would it be? Is it a "basic needs" field? If anyone has the casangas to get it up and runnin' it would be you. Look at how well you keep track of our body parts and stars!! Not to mention how you were able to deal with a months worth of crises in a day.

Ariel-Hope you and your daughters are doing well.

FMF-I've got to go back and do a re-read, missed the whole name change thing, but whatever your name, we just love you to bits here.

Satori-Will be watching Lilac's celebration thread for the big celebration.

July- Looking forward to your party this weekend. Keep runnin'

                    Chief-Still right behind you!

MadMay, MedMa, Rob2, Pinkie, Buffy and all have a great AF day.

As for myself, I may have miscalculated my meds. I've reordered my topo and am hoping that my supply holds out until my new shipment comes in arrgh.

I've got the carpet cleaners in today-Now here's a nice little piece of "drinkin' thinkin'" I had been puttin' off having them come in because I didn't want them to see how dirty the carpets had gotten since the last time they here!!! So was I thinkin' that the carpets were gonna get cleaner by themselves in the interim? I did try some home carpet cleaner stuff on them but it just made a bigger mess.

Every day it seems, I'm getting these little ziningers- I'm brushing my teeth and realize, I'm just brushing my teeth to get them clean, not to try to cover the smell of alcohol. I'm putting on lotion after a shower to soften my skin. I don't have to be concerned about alcohol oozing out of my pores. If I wake up groggy, I'm just groggy, not hungover. Gotta love it.

Morning All, Glad to see everyone is living life and enjoying AF days. It's still seems like a new experience and I notice things everyday like Rob said: brushing teeth with no alcohol smell or taste, clear eyes, etc... My wife told me the other day I looked 10 years younger! Day 13 for me and still very much aware of The Beast lurking in the background. No real strong cravings but I know the SOB is still there. Gotta stay focused... Hope everyone has a good day... Don

                          Hi All

Seven days, 1 week and 168 hours AF, not that I am counting. I had a spate of cravings last night for about 30 minutes, I took some extra kudzu and l-glut, and made myself busy, which seemed to help, it passed eventually, thank goodness.

I am visiting my son, dil, and 4 year old(going on 24)granddaughter tomorrow for the weekend, normally my son makes sure he has wine in for me, but I have emailed him to say "save yourself some money, don't bother as I will not be drinking(I don't drink in his home the way I do in my home, so he doesn't know I have a problem). My son and is wife don't drink very much, about 1 drink a week, I don't know how he ended up with a mother like me. Anyway, now the tempation is out of the way, I hope to do OK the weekend, (I wouldn't dream of saying to him "I am just poping out to the shops to pick up some wine"), with the help of the supps. etc. No doubt after running around after a 4 year old all day, I should just drop in to bed at the end of the day, worn out!!

Best wishes to all you lovely people, I hope you all continue with your AF days, and those who are struggling at the moment just take one day at a time, and hopefully you will conquer your struggle, it will be worth it. I may not be back on here until Monday, so have a good weekend all, especially those who are celebrating 30/60/90 days.

                          Mary :l :h

                            Hi all,
I have to type quick. Just got home from work and my daughter is due here w/in 5 minutes. I can't believe the fridge issues. We bought a new one in Nov. and last night the thing was not freezing!!!! Argh! It is always something with homes, isn't it. I am on day 12 and feeling really good. I use to want to come home from work and pound down a 1/2 bottle of wine but water is filling the bill these days. A healthy and great evening to all. I wish I could address you all but I have to run. I'll try to check in tomorrow morning.
                            AF since 2/22/2012

                              Hi all!!!

QUick check in on my day 6!!

Just getting off work and wanted to pop in before I head home. I had a good day.. little thoughts of wine tonight, but poped my topa, took a quick spin around this site and feeling much better. I have my dD and DH waiting for me at home and plans to eat out, so by the time I'm done it'll be time for bed. On these weaker nights I have found it best just to tuck in early.. maybe a cop-out, but it's working until I get a bit stronger!

                              See you for day 7 - wooo-hooo! 7 days, that's a week! WOW!

Hello everyone! I havent been on much, like everyone else I have been too busy. I have been logging in from time to time to check on everyone and I am very pleased for everyone and thier accomplishments!! It seems everyone is doing so well, especially our newer members who were having such a hard time in the begining. But hey, we were all there at one (or two, or three) point(s).

Dont have time to say hi to everyone but I must thank (NOT) Satori for sending this terrible weather to Chicagoland. Seems our weather has switched and I for one, am not liking it...where have the warm, sunny days of August gone??

Due to all the rain and flooding, work has been VERY busy, I run a 911 emergnecy dispatch center and any inclimate weather is always good for job security! (trying to find a positive side of it.)

Hope everyone has a great AF night and remember...WE ARE DOING THIS!!!!
