Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

    Hello Fellow Booze Busters,

It is amazing how much of an acomplishment it truly feels like to be aproaching 30 days AF. As many of us have experienced, we have spent days, months and years regretting that we have not changed our behavior. It is great to see and feel the change--that I hope will (with work and vigilance) be the rest of this life.

:thanks: to all of you for the motivation.

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

      Hi Guys!

Well, another day, another dollar. (Need them after the beating my Master Card took yesterday!). Also another AF day!!!! Yay!!!

Boards are a wee bit quiet. For those of you who havene't checked in yet, hope you had another great AF day - onward!!!!!!

Finding - No longer FMF - a sign that you know where your feet are now, and have them both firmly planted and ready to take you where yiou want to go. Is your cousin still visiting? Hope you are having a great time, it's nice to have company, but sometimes it's even nicer when they go home! :H

Chief - Not surprised to hear your wife told you you look 10 years younger. Makes you wonder why we systematically worked away at destroying our health and our looks for so many years, doesn't it? Happy Day 13!

      M. May - Congrats on closing out your first week! Hope you have a great visit w your son & dil, & granddaughter this weekend. Good on you for planning ahead and telling them not to pick up wine. It's much easier to not have to say "no thank you" once they have specifically bought some on your behalf!

Almost Famous - Think we should, Finding, you, and I ask for some kind of volume discount on new fridges. We must be cursed. At least yours should still be on warranty? Congrats on day 12 - an even dozen days AF!

      M. Mama - Hope you had a good supper out, and congrats on day 6!

Rob 2 - Glad you are hanging in there, and not having problems w very bad cravings. I have to say I never really did either, just had and still have trouble sleeping. Tomorrow will be YOUR even dozen days AF -

Satori - Much more laid back show this time. What's the matter, you hurting or something? (Snicker, snicker) (Just can't cut it anymore, guess we all get old.....)

Buffy - Hope you are having a good Day 5!

Pinkie - I have a new respect and awe for you. I can't imagine running an emergency dispatch centre. And I thought my job was stressfull! And - renovating at the same time! My God, you are Wonder Woman! :wow3:

DG - I got a Betty Crocker stainless steel electric perk. We have always had perks before, but I used to buy Proctor Silex, and they cost $100.00, and we went through two of them, so I decided to try a cheapie drip - paid all of about $15.00 for it, which is more than what it should have been, believe me. The new one makes great coffee, enjoyed my wake up cup berry berry much this morning.

Is Kimba free of the lampshade thingee yet? My Misty was pretty zonked all night last night, didn't even move until about 11:00 when she suddenly remembered that she had not had breakfast that morning and be damned if she was going to miss supper too!!!!!. She is her old self today, but has lovely white choppers again, and a full set - they didn't have to pull any of them. Now if I could just get my hubby to the dentist.......

Rob - New business (if we do it) would be an oilfield chemicals business. I like to call my hubby my own "mad scientist" because what he does is provide various chemical products to oilfield companies to do various things for them in their oilfield production facilites. He has in the past done a lot of custom blending and product development - hence the "mad scientist" thing.

I know that if we did get the business up and running, there would be no lack of sales because he has a great reputation and following. It would be something like how if your favorite hairdresser goes to a different salon, she takes a chunk of the clientele w her. My big concern is more in how much $ we would have to sink into just setting up - we would need a shop, vehicles, lab equipment, all the safety equipment, office equipment, etc. etc., etc., ---- scary to even think about, so I am trying not to too much. I really expect this will never come to pass, but at least then hubby will have done his research and maybe be more content where he is now. Oh, if only life were simple. . .

Well, as usual I have nattered way too long. July - looking forward to your party tomorrow! YaHOO!!!! And everybody have a great AF day tomorrow!

IF I CAN - YOU CAN - AND YOU WILL

Had several false starts since I started on May 1st; 19 days was the longest run so far, but yesterday I got to MY thirty days AF...................and I feel great.

Yes, yes, yes - it was all worth it; headaches, sleeplessness, shakes, cravings, sweats - all just bad memories.

Big thanks to all the regular posters; it's you that keep this site alive with all your uplifting encouragement for us all to set our goals, and the feeling of real achievement is wonderful when you hit target - thanks again.

Keep going everyone - you CAN do it.

I had wondered where you'd gone. I had missed your posts.

Great going on the 30 AF. :goodjob:

              Very happy for you!!

Post now and then so we don't lose touch.

I am finally ready to start stringing those AF days together, too.

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

                Hi ya all

Sorry but I am having to make this a short one. Very busy at work - but will try to catch up with you all very soon.

Hope you are all getting on well.

At the moment I can't seem to get enough sleep.

On day 11 Af & it has flown past. Hubby yesterday tried to make amends by getting me flowers, chocolate and a bottle of champange. I did craddle the bottle at first and said to him that I am not drinking for 30 days. To which he replied that I don't have to drink it - instead I can use it to celebrate when I do 30 days AF. MMM......I don't think he really gets it.

Anyway as tempting as it was I put the bottle of bubbly away and had opened a bottle of 90p sparking water with lemon. I am happy with myself for doing that but it got me thinking? If it had been a cheap plonk would I have drank it? Am I just being a scrooge and trying to save the champange. Even when I was drinking, quality of wine was not important. I used to look out for bargains and then the percentage of alcohol.

If I don't get the chance to log back on later today I just want to say I hope you all have an excellent weekend.

                Take care.

Hey Mandy - well done!!! Aw! Bless him...I know what you mean but he's a nice guy to think of anything at all around the Chocs/Flowers/Champagne thingy!!! Mine used to just grump that, 'what was my problem?'....

WELL WELL DONE FOR 11DAYS !!! I hope sleep comes soon - I certainly wasn't sleeping at 11 days, only just eating!! The days fly by but I found they sort of didn't - it seemed like I was AF for ever but it was only those few days. (Good sign I reckon in that it's a 'day-at-a-time' symptom - more likely to succeed!!) Then suddenly, I was sleeping like a log and the days have balanced out... You guys keeping me going I think - thanks again. (I did have - and still do - a really 'rigid' sleep programme (wierd for me!) as in set things I do and my little hotty bottle on my tummy for comfort (sans fella!), then writing my 5 'Gratitudes for the day in my little book, then a short meditation thingy and a soothing (always the same and I don't listen at any other time) CD on and away I go.... I use my Walkman phone or perhaps you have iPod or something you can tuck right under your pillow and not disturb hubby or need earfones???)

Luc - WELL DONE!!!! 30 DAYS IS FAB!!!

Love to all - sun here and a mountain of name tapes and wedding alterations (my dress is now soooh big that if one shoulder strap slips off the Bride's Mum will be standing in all her glory in her knockers - um, I'll leave that typo for the daily larf!!!!!!!!!!! - knickers...wont do at all!!!) Plus new Uni applications and associated dramas - my daughter is a Grade A student in academics as well as Music and Drama - yea! Drama Queen! She got the Sixth Form Drama Queen Crown when she left school in July! (but also gave the speech at Speech Day so...!) - and has almost too many choices. I'd die for a 'D' grade!!! Then my son's huuuge cricket kit and I'm sitting on the pavement outsdie - OK, sorry you guys, sidewalk!!!

So, have a good day you'all. looking forward to catching up on all your news. Thinking of you BB. Irish - keep going. Newbies - blessings.

Just realised - I have never had flowers, chocolates and champagne....YET!
Bit of visualisation going on here - I'll cope with the champers (give/pour it away and put the flowers in the bottle!!!).

Booze Busters 30 Day Challenge - 8/21 New Thread!

Hello everyone! I was in the middle of making a post yesterday late afternoon, and a storm ROARED in. I have never seen wind like that in Illinois before unless it was associated with a tornado. Our power is out - potentially for several days. Thank goodness Mr. Doggy is a nut job when it comes to "disaaster planning." I'm on generator power and a wireless card right now, but am not sure how much I will be able to get on line until things are back to normal around here. I am SICK about a huge old oak tree than came down in the storm (and took 2 other big trees with it). We also lost a mature Japanese plum tree - I'm very sad about that one too. At least no trees came down on the house or the fence. (so far) More storms are predicted today - keep your fingers crossed for the safety of all the many folks in the path of these midwest US storms.

Did I mention I'm grateful that Mr. Doggy is a disaster planner as I'm sipping my hot tea in the no power zone???

                      Congratulations Luc on 30 days!

Lotus that is very cool about your hubby bringing you gifts. No sure about the champaigne....but what a thoughtful man! ('Finding' if you've never had flowers and stuff from a man then it's ABSOLUTELY time we find you a new one....)

Hello to ALL other Booze Busters and I hope you are having a fine day whatever time it is in your zone!!!!! It's day 45 here and there will be NO drinking of alcohol - that is for sure.

Goodmorning Boozeless people...I am proud to say I am on day 6. I had a great week, minus the first few days of anxiety, until I started taking Valerian....natural form of Valium....I even have my husband on it. We sleep better, I have no cravings in the evenin, neither does he....I take it at 2 or 3 in the afternoon and it also kills the appetite a bit. I have some anxiety problems and so far this is really helping me. The best thing is you can get it at the health food store. I have had alot of doubts about supps, but I am sold on this one. I have to go out tonight, but I will take my "stuff", and I know I will be fine...I have a bit of a headache from it, but I just take advil and am good to go....bye

                          Good morning my friends!!

DAY 7 WOO-HOO! Little victory dance for me..

It has been a LONG time since Ihave done 7 days. I have done the "oh I'm not going to drink" dance that lasts 2 days many-many times, but 7 days is really good for me. A few years ago I was talked into going to AA and I did 30 HORRIFIC days of sobriety.. I was actually beaten into sobriety, as I see it. It didn't go well. Anyway, enough about AA, just not for me. I think this is the way for me and I am glad I am here with you all. Thank you for your support, insight, laughter and always knowing you are just a click away!

I think I can do this now.... Blessings to you all!!

                          Have a wonderful day!

                          Namaste,

I am taking my little gem to the big city where we will spend three days shopping, going to the theatre and an amusement park. I am so excited to spend time with her and not have to worry about how I am going to find a drink a the end of the day! She has her mom back - I feel very blessed today!

See you all on Monday!! Have a wonderful AF weekend!!

More rain is on it's way.:boohoo: Hang in there and I hope you have your power back on soon. Three cheers for Mr. Doggy!!!!
