      Day 19 for me!

it has really mostly been OK. I get severe pms/pmdd and have wretched alcohol cravings at this time (the past 4-5 days), so far I've managed not to succumb. I have an appointment with my pain doc and will be asking for topa. I am so nervous to start it, the cognative effects are what scares me the most..i really can't' have that with my job. Everybody reacts differently so it's really just a crap shoot taking any kind of psychotropic. I know there are a bunch of topa threads elsewhere so I'm going to check 'em out now. Rob - Love the boxers! Where did you get them? They are not a regular "smiley" thing, are they? Think we have turned you into a pic fanatic! Loads of fun, eh?

Don't worry about me and Satori. He knows he can't win. :H

Well, so far have accomplished cleaning house, lifiting boxes down in garage, investigating sewer smell in basement (necessitated pouring water and bleach down the dried out drain), shopped, dog is groomed & beautifull, wash is washing. Left - gym, fuel up, and wash car. Then ironing (Oh save me!!!!).:upset:

Talk at ya later. :wavin: Love my Wednessdays, even if it's not really a "day off"!

This is what happens when you feel like crap and aren't up to doing anything physical. You play on the internet till the next dose of Nyquil. FMF and Hannah, glad you enjoyed my efforts. Yes, Hannah, you have created a monster.

Out- Welcome, I think you've been here before and disappeared for awhile. I'm glad that you have managed some AF days. I understand your concerns about the topa. However, It is not the only "WAY" to sobriety. If you spend some time here, you'll find that people use other medications, supplements and nothing but their own desire to live a healty, sane life to achieve sobriety.

Hannah-I just googled boxing smilies and found it saved it to my pictures and then uploaded it to photobucket--copied it using IMG code, clicked on the add pic at the top of the reply post and used paste to fill in the url site. Unfortunately, when you place these pics in the post you've got the IMG thing both before and after the pic. If you're really careful, you can edit and delete the IMG codes on either side of the pic. I've tried to follow your instructions for inserting images, but stupid me, I just can't figure it out.

A big howdy to all of our peeps. This cold is kickin my butt, and I'm outa steam for now. I'll check back later.

I'm thinkin of changing my ativar to the crazy nun--What do y'all think?

Must get some kip now - promised myself at 11.30 and it's now 00.45!!! SUCH discipline! You're all a very bad influence!!!.... lol

              BOOZE BUSTERS NEW THREAD 9/10

              Hello Booze Busters,

Just a note to touch in with the BB life line. I had an interesting experience this evening. After working late today, I stopped by a bar with a work friend to discuss a project that lasts through tomorrow. I ordered a non-alcholoic beer much to my friend's ridicule. (My first time in a bar in two+ months.)

As the conversation was pretty serious around work issues, I really did'nt want to get into the whole "I don't drink anymore" discussion. He asked me if my wife put me up to this (he knows she has been AF for three years) and when I said no I just did'nt want an alcoholic drink. He--good naturedly- called me a quitter and said my wife is a bad influence.

It is interesting how a personal decision can bring out strong reactions from even good friends. I did'nt mind his comments, but I realized as I was driving home that I have been avoiding these kind of moments (for self preservation purposes).

              Good night,

              July

                The Booze Busters.

Well, holly Hannah! It worked! Took me a few tries when all I got was gobbelty goop, and then it worked! Rob, thanks for the tip. This is going to be Soooooo much fun! I also tried to get into a glitter site, but my virus defender program won't let me access it.

Hi, July. I know what you mean - I find I am just not telling anyone either. We never went out much anyway, so not a big deal. However, typically at our regional meetings, several of my peers and I would have a few nightcaps in the lounge before turning in. I still haven't decided how I am going to handle that one. Definitely won't be drinking, just not sure how I will explain it yet. Sometimes kind of awkward, isn't it?

Out - Glad to see you here again. I have lost track of your days, but hope you are doing well. Good luck w the topa.

Finding - Got it all done, except for washing the car - decided it didn't really need it. So I am feeling pleasantly tired with a sense of having accomplished a lot today, and ready to spend a bit of time here. My son is definitely excited, and actually I am too. I'll try and post some pics after the move. Night night, sleep tight Finding. Oh, this is so cool!
Well, now I gotta go see if I can find an anamation site! If I am not back, I got lost in cyber-space - if I find some and can figure out an animation I"LL BE BACKKKKK!

Fab Hannah!!!!! How? Where? What d'ya do? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (How can I use that sleeping smiley...please!!!)

Isn't it amazing that we have to 'defend' ouselves against/around not drinking! What a culture we've set up in the world..... I mean, the stuff's acutually poison and even though to many it's 'fun' (never seen what 'lager-louts' see in it personally but that's probably less to do with the lager!) and 'relaxing', how's it crept so insiduously into our very vocabulary and existence?!?! Has it always been thus?!?! You know, the old, "Whew, I need a drink" and your friend's comments, July...... "The History of Drinking Vocabulary- Discuss" Hmmm! (Can't remember the obvious ones I used to use every day myself!! That's good but I think you know the ones I mean.)

By the way - we went to get my son some flip-flops last month and found that most of the 'surfer-dude' ones (not being mean to our Oz pals here - this is Cornwall...surf city of the UK!!! Your flip-flops - normally called Reefs as like all generics!! - are extremely important for your identity...?!?) had all sorts of 'kit' with them....on closer inspection we found that the tiny keys and funnel (yes!) you put on your keyring or round your neck were for you to fill up the sole of your 'Phillipe Ferlop' with booze! Bung your Bacardi in your sole - you never knew when you might need it............... (I felt mortified to realise that I would have had to carry several spare pairs....LOL!) This drinking culture is extraordinarily worrying I think and I think I would feel that even if I wasnt' here!! It's not the amounts but the promotion of drinking's 'seriously cool' and the acceptibility of all day drinking possibilities....don't they know where it can lead or is the revenue really so much more important? (Hark at me.....hypocrite!!)

Right, off to do the day..... off to a great play tonight "The History Boys" by Alan Bennet, with my daughter tonight..yea!

                    Have a lovely Thursday all.

                    FMF xx

Just re-reading that (as you do!) it amazes me that it's 'cool' to walk around with Bacardi in your shoes but if you've got it in your handbag/pocket you're an alcoholic!
                      What's that all about?

Enjoyed the posts over the last few days-what a lively lot you are! and so talented too..........

Have been invited to a champagne do on Sept 29-that's 4 days after my 30 day party. Its with people from work so I would be disinclined to drink with them anyway.

Interesting options. I go and do not drink champers. I go and drink 2 glasses at most. I go and drink way too many glasses of bubbles. I do not go at all. Hmm.

I like my everyday life so much, I do not even think of having a glass of wine, it really doesnt bother me, but a party is different, and I know I am in good company here, it bothers others too. I think the stress of dealing socially with work colleagues might prove too much.

At best I think I would just show up to say hullo and leave after an hour or two. I could drive there and I never drink and drive so that would be a good excuse. I prefer not to go at all, as I think it through. I am so happy now, I dont want to spoil things, and I want to decide my next move myself, without the worry of a big social gathering. I think it would also highlight the fact that I am the only one there with a drinking problem-no one else there would immediately want to down a bottle of bubbly as has been the case with my past self.

I feel confident I am not that person anymore, but unsure how I would feel in that party house with nerves and stress for company. Think I have talked myself out of going, actually! Although it would be so great to feel strong enough to go and drink sparkling water!!

Thoughts on paper. Always helps. Bit disjointed I know.

Day 25 and very much alive! Off to the country for the weekend, so hoping for lots of walks and maybe a bike ride through the woods!

                          love to all-you are funny!

Londoner - Congrats on working it all out for yourself. Only we know when we are ready, and when we are not, to dip our toe into the ocean of drinkers and be a public non-drinker. I bears a lot of thinking about, doesn't it? Good for you for having the foresight to do that.

Jarlesann - Welcome to the BoozeBusters! If you have been reading, you will have realized by now that we are slightly silly, but take our commitment to keeping the Booze Beast off our backs very seriously. Day 3 is awesome, if you can make it this far, you are well on your way! Keep posting, we look forward to getting to know you better.

FMF - If you goggle "smiley faces" it's quite amazing how many sites there are where you can download free smileys. The animation I lucked out on - don't know if I can do it again, but will certainly try.

Isn't it funny the things we do to be cool? I would never in a million years have thought of booze filled flip flops, but Lord knows I have done plenty of silly things in my time to be in style. Gives a whole new meaning to "flip flop" though, especially if you empty them out too quick!

Off to make supper - no double I'll be back - talk to you all later!
