BOOZE BUSTERS 30 DAY CHALLENGE NEW THREAD 10/1

BabyGirl made it through day 1!!!

OK morning here in the midwest -- last evening I had dinner with my boyfriend & then went to WalMart to get supplies for my "nursery" we pick up the toy poodle pup this afternoon.

I am so impressed with the outpouring of support. I am also amazed at the number of people who have the same struggle... I was cracking up because one post on a different thread that was in response to Auntie's struggle said that she didn't finish the bottle of wine because she buys "the big bottle" I thought well "why didn't you go for the box!"
Beth chimed in & said she still misses the taste -- but when I am full blown binging I am not enjoying the taste!

Yesterday I kept asking myself -- If you could do one thing that would save you money(BabyGirl does not do box wine she likes the good stuff), help you lose weight, clear up your blotchy complexion & life your depression would you do it? Naturally the answer is yes -- the one thing (or lifestyle change) is giving up wine. Just need to ask the question today... need to get ready for the day... will check in a lunch all!!!!!!! BOOZE BUSTERS 30 DAY CHALLENGE NEW THREAD 10/1

Hello all and TOBBs(TM)... (is that right; doesn't look right!)

Satori - thank you...thanks so much.... that is really great. I was sort of on the right lines in my mind (?!) (not getting too attached to the 'emotions' of wishing, willing, wondering, craving, pushing, pulling.... (I know they're not real emotions but ...) but to see it all typed out so clearly again is wonderful... I am very grateful.

Lovely and sunny here too.... stuck at this poota too long though.... yesterday was a bit of a tour de force with the digging about in April's mire.... going to get out in the sun for a bit; having a weird, first for weeks crave for a cold white swine (:H I'll leave that!!) whine (:H and that!) wine!!! (Geuine typos - umm! ) Dug up a bit too much yesterday I think...hey ho, non-attachment again, eh?!?

Yup, best get out there I think!! See you'all later and hope you have a great Thursday.

      Love FMF xx

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 DAY CHALLENGE NEW THREAD 10/1

        Good mornin Booze Busters!!

Maxman-Welcome, jump right in the water is fine. I've "seen" you around on the threads and hope to get to know you better.

Mary- Please don't be intimidated, I've read your posts on other threads and respect your fearlessness in facing situations that are intimidating to you. I can get so invested in "staying sober" that I can forget that there is a whole world out there to be discovered.

LZ- Happy to oblige, I agree, Sean is the eternal hotty.

        Indigo- Congrats on 30 days!!

July- I always look forward to your comments. In your last post you talked about the very real fear of change. After having our lives ruled for so many years by drinking, visualizing the future without alcohol can pretty frightning. We not only have to change our approach to just about every situation that we encounter but our attitude about these encounters.

Satori--Thanks for the reminder of non-attachment. This is one of the things the I "know" but need periodic reminders. Like you said, traffic lights are going to do what they're going to do, they really don't care about how late you are for any given appointment.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday, off to get indigo's party goin.

        Love and Peace
        Rob

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 DAY CHALLENGE NEW THREAD 10/1

          Hello fellow booze busters!

Just a quick check in. I'm working and still exausted from the party last night! Well, at least I don't have hangover. Well, maybe just a "love hangover" (Hmm Sean:h ) Thanks to all of you for stopping by.

I'm enjoying the posts. You BBs, especially Satori, are in a very philosophical mood today.

Mary, I was wondering, are you taking Kudzu and/or Topomax? I know for me that Kudzu really curbs my craving for wine.

Tomorrow morning we leave for our weekend getaway. Being the baby-boomer music lovers that we are, we're driving to Cleveland to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame I am looking forward to getting away and also to my first glass of wine in 30+ days. I plan to have one, perhaps two at most. I'll be prepared though --I'm packing my Kudzu and taking extra.

          Take care everyone!

I'm not taking anything except my usual vitamins & minerals.

Sartori: Yes to the comfort, reward, & relaxation part of alcohol for me. It is a strong association. I'm trying to find something else AF that does it for me. I actually love coffee & non-caffeine sodas & have been substituting them.

My biggest strategy is imagining the damage alcohol did to my body, mind, & heart. Thank you so much for your words.

I'm doing very well right now. I'm enjoying life in a way I haven't for a long time.

            Take care everyone, Mary

Thanks Don ... I was reading the links on alcohol withdrawal and I really don't want to do this again. Also, sad to admit but I am 40 and really did not start drinking heavily until my early thirties but that is close to 10 years with serious wine consumption... how much damge have I done! Baby is scared!

Hi Everybody! Am I in trouble for not logging in everyday? Don't worry, I am sober, just got a little busy! Day 5 of October is starting and I don't want drink. Feeling a little low again but still strong on the sober front.

                    ++++ 4 days in October!

BabyGirl hang in there; days 3 and 4 can be the toughest....not what you want to hear! But you've done two, just two more and you'll really be on the up and yes, you don't want to have to do them again - and again...and even maybe again!!! Ugh!

The 'stuff' is leaving your system and you've got a real hangover....that's 'all'.... lots of water little and often, sugar in any quick form is OK for the next few days as your body is missing the ultra quick sugar that alcohol gave you. Hopefully that'll reduce the cravings which are more for sugar not alcohol - don't fall for that one!!! I remember not wanting food (big ugh!) for a couple of weeks so just ate what I could (even a biscuit!) for a few days and then made sure food was small but nourishing...it soon settled as did my sleeplessness... I even got into sweet tea and I think sweet tea (I hate tea even!) could probably be the drink of the devil to me!!! Yick, yick yick! But whatever it took! (I used to drink to stop feeling queasy you see!!!!....phobia )

Good luck to you - you're doing great and will soon feel the benefits... fotunately our bodies are amazing at healing with time - are you using all the sups etc...?

Mary - wow, you're doing so well too...

                      LZ - have a great trip.... baby-boomer!!:H

Delight - hello ! Good on you too, and I hope the busy-ness is good busy-ness for you! Sorry to hear you're feeling low....now we start notincing the ups and downs but discover we can handle them....

Rob, Satori, Don, Cindi and all the other TOBB's I've left off the list....(sorry! We've scattered on the threads and my little brain's lost the plot!)(which is pure laziness and I am rather ashamed of that...must get my little book going again to keep up!) And to Hannah in case you're able to look in from time to time... andDG.......?

Have a good Friday whatever time zone you're in! Beautiful sun here again - wow, yesterday's weather was really, really special; not just sun but 'that' kind of light and warmth... I spent the day in town as my garden, being on the side of a hill and with the low-ness of the autumn sun, doesn't actually get any sun IN it... so I sat and chatted to a lovely old man in a little park area (wow, and I think I'm lonely?!?!?!) and a lovely lady in another part of town.... It was special.

                      Right, gone..... byeeee

Hi Everyone: I'm having a dinner for some neighbors tonight. We have one 1.5 L bottle of wh. wine. These folks are moderate drinkers, as is my hubby. I'll be fine AF. I have a plan. I've laid in plenty of soda, & really don't feel any temptation right now. Mary

Hello - going ot go to my bed; feeling really rough and scared tonight by this endless aching, soreness and stiffness...it hasn't got any better since flamenco #1 (done no more) 3 weeks ago...keep thinking it's just, well, being 50 stuff but, it's not right, can't be.
Just wanted to tell someone.... (!)
