Suze has excellent sticks she gives out for beating the piss out of AL- grab one for sure. Other things I have found that help ( and I need this too as I'm going to a concert on Tues nite where I may be REALLY tempted).
- Make sure you eat, and drink water, before you go. DON'T show up hungry or dehydrated.
- Take a bunch of Kudzu if you have it before you go. And bring extra with you. And the Glut.
- Take some sweets or chocolates in your pockets. Take as needed.
- Post here before you go, and when you get home.
- If you're going with a friend you want to/can tell - clue them in.
- If you get caught in a craving. Wait at least 15 minutes. Cravings pass (this is a fact) in 15 - 30 minutes. If you wait it out, you'll be fine.
- If all else fails - eat eat eat!! Stuff your face. It's better than drinking, and you'll feel like your having an indulgence - just not alcohol. good!
I have found in the past (whether it's a concert, a wedding, whatever), that once I'm through the intitial half hour I'm fine AF and having fun. It's the anticipation and worry building up to it that's the big pain. You are breaking an old pattern. This is an opportunity to prove to yourself that it can be done.You will feel like a million bucks when you keep that commitment to yourself. Remind yourself of how good you'll feel after if you don't drink. And how bad you'll feel if you do. Really think it through. You CAN do it!! Though it IS the packers, I guarantee you're not the ONLY one not drinking!
