    Good Morning -

Rob, thanks for organizing the threads/seminars. Its helpful to have a 'plan'. Hey, I made it to Day 5! Yippee - it was shaky for awhile, but I made it!

Didn't sleep a wink last night, though and that never feels good - doing a day without sleep is misery. SO, I will just pick up me head and be happy about being on Day 5 - this counting thing is fun - makes you want to keep adding :H

In the middle of the night, my brain is just working, thinking - I realized another reason I like the wine - it calms my overworking brain. Anyone feel that brain working overtime? That is something I am going to have to deal with.

Good Day to everyone - May you all "Go Placidly Amid the Noise & Haste"!

      Good Morning again:

G2G- Hope you get the sleep thing sorted out and soon. You may want to look into some of the sleep aids that I mentioned yesterday. I don't know if you have the hypno CDs from MWO, they are very helpful at calming the brain. I don't know where you live but a quick alternative might be to check out your local library. Many times they have relaxation CDs and tapes in their self help sections.

Loss of sleep not only lowers your resistance to alcohol it also lowers your resistance to illness.

Max - Hey buddy. You know we're here for you. Just keep in mind what you've gained from your AF time and get going again.

I'll check back with you guys later.

      Love and Peace
      Rob

        Good morning!

I'm also on a quick pace this morning. I want to read Stolli1's post, and last night's Inn, so I'm off.

On day 14 today - yippee!

        G2G -
Meditation.. I know, I know.. but here is a great (free) book you can download or print out. It is a fantastic book on begining meditation and the whys, hows, some very interesting reading, and he is a very gentle writer/teacher. This is the book I give my begining students. Even though I practive Tibetian Buddhism, I still start my students with Vipassana (Insight), as it is the easiest to grasp - one usually find their own path from there.

        Mindfulness In Plain English

If this link doesn't work, go to google and type in "mindfulness in plain english, pdf" and you will get to it.

        Have a wonderful day everyone!

        Namaste,

          Good morning, everybody!

I?ll need to spend a little time reading all the posts and seminars over the past few days - have just skimmed them so far - see a few new faces, looking forward to getting to know them, and getting caught up.

Rob - what an excellent seminar week you have set up here. Awesome, thank you so much for all your hard work. You are as shining example of the incredible giving, caring, sharing, support that this site is all about.

Sorry I have been sort of quiet, did get back home on Monday, but was seriously tired, and hubby has been really hogging the computer - gonna have to have a serious talk to him about the word ?share?!!!!!

Trip to Edmonton/St. Albert - was fun in a lot of ways, and very tiring in others. It was nice to just ?get away? with hubby too, although my careful mods were seriously challenged and I think I need to do a stint of AF again, just to keep myself on track. And - do a little dieting - ate way too much rich food!!!! We spent the weekend going through at least 50 different homes and condos, to get an idea of the real estate market there. Found that on average, a similar size home there runs about a hundred thousand more than here, so would be looking at a mortgage. Sort of a downer, but not a deal buster. Honestly don?t know how younger couples manage to buy a house these days, - they must be making HUGE mortgage payments.

Also spent the weekend hoping we would not run into any of my family, because we have not told them anything about the move we are considering. They would get themselves really pumped up, and if the whole thing fell through they would be horribly disappointed. So just not saying anything yet.

Trip home was NOT fun - hubby?s truck is diesel, and it was acting up all weekend - he tried to get someone to look at it, but they couldn?t fit him in - so we had no choice but to strike out for home and hope for the best. Sure enough, about 20 miles out of Edmonton the truck just died, and we were barely able to limp into an Esso station. Waited for 90 minutes for a tow truck, who towed us into the nearest Ford dealership. Then had to hunt around for a car rental place, and rent a truck, and head out for home again. Trip that should have taken 2 ? hours turned into about 7, sure were glad to get home.

NEWS!!!! NEWS!!!! NEWS!!!!! I gave my notice at work yesterday. Spent the rest of the afternoon in sort of a fog - can?t believe I really did that!!! But am so looking forward to having a little ?down time?, and letting my body heal up - I find my shoulders and hips have been seriously stiff for the last few months, and I think the constant lifting, bending, carrying, and just being on my feet all day have taken a toll on my joints. I am actually seriously worried about my right hip, and hope I am not going to be an early candidate for hip replacement surgery. But - hopefully some rest, maybe a few massages, or may even try some yoga - will fix me up again.

Of course, now I will worry about the money thing, but guess it?s a tradeoff. If we are still here into January/February, I will take some computer classes and maybe look for a temporary sort of job to give me something to do, and bring in just a bit of $$. But, until January I am just going to rest, work at getting the old body healed and back in shape, eating better, etc. Am looking forward to the first Christmas season in 13 years that I have not been so absolutely exhausted that the whole season has just been a nightmare. Last day of work will be December 7th, and if I don?t have to use my remaining holiday days to avoid winter storms, I will finish them off that week, so may actually be finished around the end of November. I am hoping my replacement will be there in time for me to really be done, and not to have to go and help my poor part time gal, who will be my temporary replacement, because she will be traumatized trying to run the place by herself, and I wouldn?t do that to her.

Anyways, all you wonderful people, need to get of my duff, stiff that it may be, and get a few things done around here. Will check in later! Afternoon All: Another quick checkin:

MM- Thanks for the link to the book, I've printed it out, now the trick will be to find the time to sit down and read it. How's your morning routine going? Now that Hannah's back you guys can kick it into high gear!! Great Day 14 two whole weeks!!

G2G - Hope I congratulated you on day five.

              Pepper - Day 8 wonderful!!

Hannah - Welcome back, and thank you for the kind words! It sounds like you had a very eventuful trip! That is a huge difference in home prices. Is the housing market as soft up there as it is down here? You may be able to get a deal.

Yay!! You did it!! Your body is going to love you. While I'm a firm believer in "you're only as old as you feel" there's no point in continuing in a job that makes you feel older than you are!!

Busy morning here. Lots of errands, and unfortunately I managed to leave my brain at home. I'd finish and one store, head down the road then, oh crap, I needed something back down there. And yes, I do know about lists, but where's the challenge in that? Usually I'm pretty good about keeping a running list in my head but not today.

Anyway, I think I've got the decorations, tabecloths etc. ready for Thanksgiving ready. Next I get to tackle the food as we usually celebrate the holiday here. Ok, off to conquer more dust bunnies.

              Love and Peace

Suze just saying hallo......and letting my Innmates know that I have special Thanksgiving sticks available....I'll leave them in the lobby. If you'd like one please help yourself and get some practice in before the Big Day.....they are all different and have helpful messages to read while you're bashing Al on the head with them....like - 'Al? No THANKS' and 'THANKS to MWO I'm giving Al the brush-off' and 'I'd like a soft drink, THANKS'...you get the idea.

Other, everyday sticks are also still available.....just ask at reception.

                  Suze xx
Just hand me the chocolate and.........I'll consider my position. My solicitor has advised me to say no more than that.

Hi All! Congratulations to everyone for racking up those AF days! Be proud.

Those of you on days 3-6 or 7...stay really focused. You are flying through a thunderstorm but you are about to break out of the clouds...you're about to see the bright sunshine.
You have gone through the tough physical withdrawl...and The Beast is pissed! He sees that you are serious about this and he will put any and all thoughts into your head to convince you to "just have one". Because he knows if you have one, you'll have twenty, and that's exactly what his motive is...to get you back to square one. Do not give that son of a bitch that power. DO NOT!
This is a critical time, the difference between success and failure. You have gone through the physical part, now it's all in your head. ANY thoughts or pictures in your mind of you drinking are total propaganda put there by The Beast. He is sweating. He is nervous because he feels his grip on you slipping. Now is the time to hit him right between the eyes....this is war...this is your life we're fighting for. Look at it that way.
Just stubbornly refuse to drink. That's it. You are in charge of what you put in your mouth.
You guys are doing great...press on. Keep swinging.

Max- Come on Buddy. Get back in here with us! You can do it. Put it down, get it out of the house and take the power back. Don't overthink it, just do it. You're not going to bring anyone down, get back to The Inn with us.

                    Don

                        Hello Inn-Mates,

Day 111 AF. I like the ring to that: one-one-one. It is kind of what this place is all about. One day AF, One day at a time, One person to keep on track.

I am not usually a numbers person and I don't plan to keep counting days forever but it helps keep me on track and honest. Forgive me if it gets irritating.

4, 5 or 30 they are all days AF and they each are important as we progress.

Good night Inn-Mates and please just step over that hairy hump, that Chief has beaten into submission, at the bottom of the stairs (Max you may kick it on the way up).

I am really impressed with all the animated graphics you guys are finding! WhooWhee! What a bunch of techkies.......Thanks for all the encouragement - it feels great to be knowing new characters and seeing how its going for everyone - the needs, the pleads, the gifts, and the lifts - what a great group.

Day 5 Closing down - whooppee! I guess I'm doing this. I do know it was a better day because I was working at home today, which is my own pace and fewer distractions - I like that. Also, have a chance to get on top of a few things around the home. Those 'things out of whack' are what really drive me to W(h)ine. So, I am learning the triggers - maybe I will have to quit my job like Hannah - sure am jealous. You go girl, and take very good care of your self - do that yoga, take those walks. By the way, glad to meet you

ok, Good night - look forward to the morning check in on Nov 15 - Oh Crap, its Kill Deer Day here. I hate it so much. We have Deer families that grow up on our land and wander close to the house all the time. We see them every morning when we drive out the driveway - sometimes amidst the wild turkeys. I will be sad when there are fewer of those brown eyes staring at us in a few weeks. And we will notice.

Ahh Jeeze G2G. I have no idea why the deer in your area are being killed. I know that overpopulation can be a problem. I can see why it can make you sad though.

I know that you are grateful to us for being here for you, but we don't often express how grateful we are to you new folks. Your energy and enthusiasm, keeps us going.

To see someone go from- I'm not sure about this to- well maybe, I can do this to, Hell yeah, I really can to this is a great inspiration to all of us.

Congrats on Day 5 Honey, Keep goin!
