FMS, In reading your post I realized that the place you are in is exactly where I want to be: "someone who can 'drink' but chooses not to, rather than someone who can't/mustn't".

Sorry I`m only getting to congratulate you now.......I`ve not been around so much this past week.

You`ve done fabulously........am so very proud of you. I hope you`ve come to realize that all that truly matters is what we KNOW about ourselves and not what anyone else thinks of us. I know you`re a good hearted woman, who has beaten a booze addiction. We`re all immensely proud of you. I hope you`re fit to burst with pride in yourself and your hard-earned achievement.:l

I had a minor revelation yesterday as I was walking towards the late night corner shop where I always bought beer in the past.
(My teenage sons had been doing their famous "locust swarm" impersonations in the kitchen again!!)

I am in transition from someone who can't / mustn't drink - to someone who simply...... doesn't
It was Flip the Fabulous that first mentioned that she thinks of herself as a non drinker - like someone who doesn't smoke is a non-smoker.

For the first time yesterday - I realised that was how I was beginning to think about myself too - I very, very rarely now feel that I am missing out or denying myself anything - I am beginning to FEEL like a non-drinker!

Long may it continue

Wow - you have come so far. Hard to believe it's already been 6 months!! Your post about being someone who chooses not to rather than someone who "can't" is very thought provoking. Well done my friend!!
