    Life is good

I've been completely AF since June 5th. Topamax and Kudzu had a lot to do with the first couple of months, as well as the hypnosis CD's. Modifying sugar intake was extremely helpful (agave nectar rules). Eating fruits, vegetables, brown rice and protein was key.

I have combined these things with different readings by different authors. Exercise, humor, and turning to others for support has helped immensely, fifteen minutes at a time.

That's all it has to be for me - fifteen minutes at a time - and I'm a hardcore alcoholic, not a problem drinker.

Haven't been around in a while - hoping to make some contacts.

Rebel - great to read your happy, positive post. That's one heck of a long time to be AF. Well done.

            Hey Rebel,

Well done on that impressive AF run - long may it continue!

I think you have hit the nail on the head - we definitely have to CHANGE a lot of things in our lives for this "new" life to "stick".

Best of luck - whatever you are doing now - you need to keep doing it!

Hi rebelicious. Your post was quite inspiring. Congratulations on this awesome run. With each attempt at AF I'm learning more, and I hope this one is for good.

Question for you. Are you still taking Topa? I've had some here since July (it's in my freezer now!). I'm irrationally medi-phobic to begin with, and do not want to give up alcohol only to end up depending on a medication - trading once dependency for another.

Anyway, your thoughts would be interesting to me.

Rebel: Thanks for the words of encouragement & the inspiration. I pretty much follow your plan, except I only take my own regular vitamin supplements. They seem to work pretty well.

Doggy: I think you're doing great just coming here each day regardless of what your status is. It's so important to come here & read & share. The Newbies in Need ODAT thread is a good one, because it focusses on this one day (staying sober). I'm doing well, but I take nothing for granted. I know that a craving can hit in an instant. I watch my thoughts all the time.

                  Good luck, Mary

Great job Rebelicious! I, too, was a hard core alcoholic. (I cringe looking back). I found keeping blood sugars balanced is so essential. It looks like you are well on your way!!! Stick around and keep us updated on your progress.
