    Wed. - Dec. 12

Hi Everyone: I hope you're all doing well & not feeling overwhelmed by the holiday season. Remember that our feelings are just that: feelings. We don't have to feel overwhelmed. Today, we're going to the outlet mall to finish our holiday shopping. I have a list & know exactly what I need to get. It's mostly kids & g-kids...pretty easy.

One of the biggest benefits of being AF is that I'm enjoying the holidays for the first time in years. I always complained (too much rushing, commercialism, work, blah, blah, blah) that I don't have the spirit but didn't realize the link w/alcoholism. Everything is so much more of an effort when you're planning around drinking every day or so. This year, I instinctively know that everything that needs to get done will get done.

Love to all of you out there in MWO-land. Mary

Good Morning Mary and everone to follow.

Mary, good luck with your holiday shopping. I barely have started, but I hope to take half a day off from work on Friday, to do some. Christmas is coming up way too fast.

Enjoy your day everyone, and take care. I can see an AF night coming my way tonight !

This is going to be short and sweet, as I'm very busy at work today.

      Hi everyone.

Just wanted to pop in real quick and annouce I finished my 30 days AF yesterday. I didn't want to say anything till today though as I was just on day 30 yesterday, not finished with it.

Starting on day 31 AF today and still shooting for 100 days AF in a row.

I know I don't post here very often, but know that I do get alot out of reading the post and using the Drink Tracker.

        Rosalind,

        :goodjob:

Way to go. 100 days AF is a really good goal. I think a lot of things are "back to normal" brain wise by then.

Glad you are here and keeping us up-to-date on your progress.

Rosalind: Great for you. The first 30 days are really the hardest. I too am aiming for 100 days. By the way, I read that after 90 days AF, your brain really starts to readjust...especially in terms of impulse-control. I'm looking forward to that. Please keep reading, & I'm so glad you posted. Post all you want...that's what MWO is here for. Any thoughts you have would benefit all of us. M

              Rosalind thats fab!!

well, I'm so sore already after last nights workout...problem is I don't exercise consistently to stop getting sore. maybe soon things will calm down a tad.

a word to the wise on the 90 day AF thing...I had 94 days AF earlier this year and then decided to try and mod...within a week or two I had gotten totally wasted all over again...I was so upset with myself. The problem is I looked at the end of my AF time like a countdown to when I could start to mod. a most unhealthy and sure to fail idea!

at any rate the more AF time the healthier our minds and bodies are that's fact.

              be well friends.

                Det,

Unfortunately, I think there are many of us for whom mods is just not a possibility. I know I fall into that category now that I look back over the years.

My first drinking days were never moderate. I started out as a medium drinker (3-4 glasses of wine a day) from the get go.

Once I had my gastric bypass, things escalated and now I am simply a falling down drunk.

I think that my brain can never do mods, it isn't wired that way.

Someday all this will get figured out by the medical community. Until then, we just keep on keepin' on.

                Love,
                Cindi

Deter: Many thanks for your words of wisdom. It's been in the past 2 weeks that I've realized in my heart that mod is just not for me. I don't think it would take me even a week to get back into the alcoholic hole I was in. I slipped 3 times in Sept. & Oct. & one of the slips was so bad I had a huge throw-up session. Not fun & a great reality check. No more drinking for me. Moderation isn't in my vocabulary. M

                      Mary,

We are apparently on the same wavelength.

You and I are so much alike in our drinking. Once I start, I am gone. Period.

I sure do love waking up in the morning without hangovers, anxiety, shakes, and depression.

It's also kinda nice to remember the night before.
