    Tues. - Jan. 15 - Daily Thread

First, Kathy, thank you so much for that wonderful post about your changes from yesterday's daily thread. I really identified. Life has changed for me as well. I too don't have the guilt & shame roiling around in my head the way I did when I was drinking. I'm not functioning under the influence or hungover the way I used to. That's not the way I want to live now. Yes, the issues that I buried for all those years are coming up, but as I deal w/them one at a time, I find they are losing their power over me. I don't feel the need to numb out.

Kathy, there is such a sense of confidence about your posts...even when you are dealing w/an issue. It feels to me like sobriety is the foundation upon which a healthy life rests. (And by sobriety, I mean either mod or abs...whichever works.)

    Always happy to serve, Mary!:H

Today is my sister's birthday. My BIL is doing much better physically and was really shaken up psychologically by his accident the other day. He seems to have learned his lesson, but we all know how that can go. I really hope it sticks!

I'm really glad that that drinking and driving is no longer an issue in my life. I am so lucky that I never hurt anyone or myself by some of the things I did in the past.

    Have a good day, all!

    Hugs,:l

Hello all - still hanging in there. I've been really focusing on diet and exercise during these weeks of abstinence, and I think everything combined is truly helping to calm down my thoughts. I've only been AF for 18 days, but I feel so much better now than the first week or so.

        Take care,
        --D.

Hello as evening approaches. Treeman, I'm 14 days, too, and have really revved up the diet-and-exercise myself. Isn't sober life delicious...and don't we look better without the pinkish eyeballs...

Hi all...second day AF, but only slipped once in 9 days. So woohoo! Day 4, walked in Wal-Mart stone sober. It was so so odd! Instead of people looking at me and me thinking they know I'm hungover, felt proud, looked people straight in the eyes and stood tall. So, just a ramble, since this seemed like the right place, lol...
This is no longer a drinking problem...it's a matter of Life or Death!!!
