    Mon. - Mar. 3 - Daily Thread

    Hello everyone,

What a lively thread this am. I had my fourth consecutive AF weekend. And for the first time, I didn't struggle even for a moment. So now I am convinced that AL will start calling at some odd time- like Tuesday at 10 am. For me it is a double edged-sword - you all know what I mean - If the cravings are subsiding maybe I didn't have much of a problem anyway.

I can't begin to reply to all - but Jimmy hang in there it truly does get easier. Watch out for days 4 and 5 - they trip a lot of folks up.

Janice - welcome to absville. it works better for me than ODAT.

Tkeene - I actually cooked with wine last week. I was always one of those folks who drank while cooking and cleaning up. Anyway as I smelled the wine, I had to admit that I didn't want the actual wine - just the buzz. Moding for me is unlikely as I have always thought the AL without the buzz was just so many empty calories!

and cowgal - you are doing great!

Happy 30 days Mary - I am two days behind you with 28 and I hope I never overtake you.

Have a great AF day everyone,
    Beck

Hi Everyone- Day 3 for me and feel pretty good. I can really relate to all the seemingly "odd" times I would drink When someone would say what are your triggers I would be too embarrassed to say- EVERYTHING. Good weather, bad weather, stress, happiness, boredom, cleaning the basement, cooking, home with a sick child, etc, etc... I think you can get your brain so out of whack that it is just constantly getting turned on to want alcohol over the simplest stimulation be it positive or negative or anywhere in between. One good thing I have found is that after going AF a bunch of times over the past year and in general drinking drastically less over the past year some of those triggers have vanished. I can actually identify whats left, which helps. This is an unbelievable mind game isn't it? I also definately don't even consider mods as an option. I absolutely only drank for the buzz. Is there anyone who actually , honestly, drinks alcohol for the taste?
Maybe there is , but it's not me. I loved reading everyones posts- they really help. Aquamarine

        Young at Heart:

I did give thought to what your singles screen name could be.
-"Mischief Maker" - because of your adventurous spirit.
-"Klever Kathy" - alliteration w/your name & because of your intelligence.
-"Witty Woman" - again because of your intelligence & sense of humor.

        Are those too hokey?

Mary, you are so good to start thinking about screen names for me. Thank you so much! I'm going to write them down right now.

              touching base

Just popping in to finish my day with the the awesome abbers - and tell you how grounded I feel reading your posts once again.... thanks. Oh I just have to answer that quote about drinking alcohol for taste. I loved the taste of a cold beer! And a glass of dry red wine - l liked the taste of that too! Actually liked the taste. But the rest of it - no can't say I ever liked the "taste". Strange

love to all. As I travel this week I'll be away from my home base - so will be thinking about a lot of what you've all said here the past few days. liv
AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

I know since I have been listening to the hypno CD's and making a "suggestion" to my subconscious that wine taste's like vinegar, it honestly is starting to :-)

Tkeene, that is precisely what I've been doing! being a wine nut the smell of wine in a public place/dinner etc used to drive me crazy but this aversion hypno technique is really helping.

                  Jimmycrackcorn, big welcome to you!

we are all tucked into the hotel. AF and very happy.
