Booze Busters 30 Day AF Challenge, Wednessday, March 19th

Good morning Booze Busters! Thank you Hannah for starting a fresh thread. Things can get pretty daunting when threads get too long. If you already know the Booze Buster rules, go on to the next post.

For anyone new stopping by to see what the Booze Busters 30 day challenge is all about:

      Frequesnt Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: What the sam hill is a Booze Buster?
A: Anyone who has a serious goal of going Alcohol Free (AF) for 30 days in a row, no matter what.

Q: Do I have to join at the start of the month?
A: NO!! Your "Day 1" can be at any time. And if you are already into your first month or your hundredth month AF, you can join at any time. All who desire to be AF for at least 30more CONSECUTIVE days are welcome.

Q: Why are you being such a hard a$$ about 30 consecutive days AF?
A: Because that's how tough I have to be on myself to succeed, and this challenge is meant to be "tough love" when it comes to the goal.

Q: What if I fall off the wagon - do I get kicked out?
A: NO!! We do hope you will let us help you dust off the seat of your pants, and drag you right back onto the Booze Busters wagon. You will get your butt kicked, but you won't get kicked out. Oh - and we have a Fugly Green Suit you have to wear for a day during your butt kickin'. That suit is worse than the kickin'. Give back your stars and bling and start over at Day 1 (for purposes of this challenge).

Q: What if I am tempted to drink - really really badly tempted?
A: Come here for a kick in the seat of the pants! Read inspirational threads from start to finish, and if the desire to drink still exists, scream for help in the "Need Help Now" Section and yell for someone to join you in chat. (I wish I had done all that before the fall!!)

Q: What does the Booze Beast look like?
      A: :alf:

Q: How does the group keep track of what day people are on?
A: We count on YOU to shout out your stats loud and proud every day in whatever way suits you. For me, I'm collecting a star * for every AF day out of due respect for my inner child. At 30 days, collect your bling :award: (thank you Liv for the bling bling word!) Collect a :award: for every consecutive 30 days.

Speak up if you have other questions!! We are here to prove that WE CAN DO THIS! And we can have a little fun while we're doing it! Let us know if you have questions or suggestions as to how we can improve the BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Perpetual Challenge.

I know I'm missing some people from the last couple of days...please accept my apology and come on in and claim your stars anyway!!

Ed - WELECOME to MWO and to Booze Busters. The inspiration for this 30 day challenge came stright out of the MWO book - RJ recommends 30 days alcohol free even if you longer term goal is not abstinence. So here we are! I quit during an afternoon rather than first thing in the morning too, so it CAN be done. If you haven't already done so, I would recommend downloading the My Way Out Book, and consider the tools (supplements, CD's, etc.) that RJ recommends. Happy Day 1. I hope you stick to your guns!

Beck - congrats on Day 44. :award: + ************** I like your term "tea run!"

Cowgal, dust off those britches girl! Fugly Green Suit Put it on and take your licks. I know you won't want to be seen in THAT thing again!! No beer tastes that good, right?

Janice - congrats on 21 Days!

Barebones - congrats on 18 Days!

Beaches - congrats on Day 3! We're gonna feel so good getting the first week behind us.

Congratulations to anyone else I missed the last couple of days.

I'm claiming star #6 today, and will be off again to watch more figure skating.

Just in case there are any obscure figure skating fans here, the Big News from yesterday was US Dance team Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, favored for Gold (after the withdrawl of Domnina and Shabalin from Russia) had a disaster in the compulsary dance. Tanith went splat. So they go into the Original Dance in 5 place and about 5 points off the lead. The rest of the top teams are close in scores and it will be exciting. There is a very close race in Pairs as well after the short program with ZhangX2 in the lead, S&S from Germany in 2nd and Some Girl and Porny Smirnov from Russia in 3rd. Dube and Davidson from Canada are a pleasant surprise in 4th, and Pang/Tong in 5th which I'm sure they are disappointed about. (I GOTTA find a picture of Smirnov that does...um...justice to his assets....)

Tip for the day: If you are taking supplements but have not added GABA, consider it. For me, I really think it's helping me keep calmer and more peaceful than I was on my previous efforts.

Have a great AF day everyone!!

          Count me in!
I'm starting day 6 AF today. I've had a few reasonable AF spells over the last six months but keep finding my way back to the booze. So I hope a challenge will help keep me on the straight and narrow again.

                BB's day 3

DG seems to be carrying all the weight here with her mega-positive attitude so I'm going to toss mine in as well. All together now...

*I* *CAN* *DO* *30 DAYS AF!!*

I just earned my first 30 days AF and know all too well how hard 30 days can be I only wish the B-B's were here for them it may have at least been a bit more fun! It is not easy, full of lots of up's and many more downs but it is so worth toughing it out.

C'mon gang - "There will be *NO Drinking!!** let's do this 30 and don't forget to*smile* while you are at it! :h

Hello from me......back from 'up country' and funerals for a bit....and wanted to just say a Big Hello to all. 'Newbies' and 'oldies'......!

Good on you Hannah and Doggy.....it is so good to see Booze Busters back.....it is where I was when I first came here last July......it is where I met some of the best friends I have ever met in my life. I really really wish everyone luck, strength, courage and all the good stuff.

I'm sorry if I sound all sort of 'senior' and stuff.....just been around here for a while and am happy with Al now....but I wont forget where I was last July and where i might be now without the Busters and everyone adn MWO and things like the medal you 'sent' me DG after 66 days....still got it on my desk! And all the 'flowers' (pics) you sent , Hannah, especially the one at 100 days - still in my purse!! They mean the world to me.

I am just really really lucky and never want to forget it but I would never have discovered how lucky I am re: Al if I hadn't have stumbled upon MWO that long dark night!, joined Booze Busters and ridden the ride!!!

GO FOR IT....you CAN do this. Never, never, ever give up....you're worth so much more than stupid fire-water in a bottle......look to water...the thing that children in Africa are craving for and dying for the lack of....that's what helped me in the frst few weeks.....hope it might help somehwere here too....

                      Love

Hi Busters, still standing strong on Day 4 (seems like it should be day 400) for some reason.

I just started taking Gaba again and I agree it really does seem to take off the edge.

                              Have a good one all.
