    abbercise May 26 - June 1

Got up on a cold rainy morning and went to the gym ..... really hard to get up and not much better while I was there.

    Weighed myself too :upset:

However - and as I keep telling myself! - at least I got there! If today it was hard, that increases the likelihood of it being easier tomorrow!

I envy you being in NZ. You can REALLY get your work outs done early!! Good for you! I'm going to try to get a little sleep tonight before my May 26 workout. Since Curves is closed for the holiday (Memorial Day in US) it's going to be a nice long walk with a doggy. I'm trying to decide who shall be the lucky one. Maybe miss Cleopatra.

I have great plans but using all my energy elsewhere at the moment so have dug out my pedometer. The goal for this week is to ensure that every day I finish with a bigger number on it than the last . Little steps for now!

just couldn't get there this morning - too hard, too cold, bed (and MAx Smart) too warm!

Half planned to go at lunchtime, but my subconscious took over and I left my gym bag in the car ...... which is in with the mechanic all day ........

Loppy - the pedometer is a great idea - I did that a couple of years ago, and I ended up being really competitive against myself and walking everywhere!

Today me and hubby went golfing. We don't know the courses around here very well, so are just trying out a bunch to see which we prefer. The one we went to today was very loooonnnngggg - and I got a good shoulder workout because I golfed lousy! But I think I used more calories trying to keep warm than anything else - started out a not too bad day, but went rapidly downhill! By the time we were done the first 9 I was wearing two jackets, and still freezing to death, my neck and shoulders were stiff, and I thought, okay, enough for me. From here on in I am the cheering section! After one more hole, I pulled out my wind pants and put them on too. After one more hole, one of the other nice fellows we were golfing with pulled his extra jacket out of his bag and made me put it on. Obviously, I looked as cold as I felt. After one more hole, we gave up. Enough is enough. But hey, someday we will have summer, right? Hope springs eternal?

40 minutes on the elliptical machine for me yesterday. Hopefully lots of yardwork today as well as some exercise.

Hi everybody!! My plans for a walk yesterday did not come to fruition. That's what I get for not doing it first thing in the morning.

In the good news department, I did my thing at Curves this morning and the computer says I burned 387 calories. So maybe the two days of rest after 3 straight days was good - I was really pushing today and it felt great. Hannah, you are gonna love the Curves SMART system, I think. After your workout you can see how you did with all of your muscle groups and all kinds of info.

Part of the Curves "culture" is to have lots of different games and fun incentives going on all the time. For June, the Curves I go to is having a drawing this week for those who want to "play" to determine teams. Then throughout the month the teams will accumulate points for members working out at least 3X per week, for inches and weight lost, and for referring a new person for a free 1 week trial (smart business people!!). I signed up today - so had to weigh and measure again after doing it last Thursday. The good news is that I've lost 2 pounds!!!! WHEE!!!!! I have a LONG way to go but it's a start.

Loppy the pedometer thingy sounds interesting. That sort of ties into another thought I had about increasing my activity - parking at the FAR end of the parking lot as I run around for errands and what not. And walking to my mailbox instead of driving. (I know that sounds lazy - the mail box is about 1/4 mile away round trip, with hills)

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great abbercizer kind of AF day.

Been slacking in the running dept, want to work back up to some longer distances. I hope after school lets out I can fanagle one or two of the kids to run with me. They keep me going.

Today was a day when it was all worth it!

Bounced into the gym at 7am to do my circuit class, today I was the one that had the energy to make jokes and get everyone laughing when it was hard and we were flagging (too often I've been the hung-over one!), two people independently told me that I was looking much better, and the zip on my jeans doesn't fall down when I bend over!

Reckon there is steroids in them there L-Gluts!!

I want to keep feeling like this forever!

OMW - I dont know whether you do this, but measure your waist and stick to your sit-ups. I've found in the past that even when I dont "lose weight" I still sometimes lose size!

DG and Loppy - my partner reminded me last night that 2 years ago when we started walking in to work (partly because of our crap car and partly because of the price of petrol) he lost 3 kgs in 2 months without changing anything else. 40 minute flat walk every day - but it helps to get your heart rate up!

I've got my weigh and measure this Friday after my six week programme ..... feeling much better but not sure that I have lost any weight! Wonder how much I can lose if I stick to carrot sticks and lettuce leaves ..........:H:H

                        Wow this really is abbercise!!
I got to the gym this arvo but took it easy as I have a sore back/shoulder at the moment. And I've got my 2nd pilates class this Friday which should help sort it out.
Mame, I'm sure the L-Gluts have some kind of muscle building thing..I actually stopped taking them for a while as I was putting on weight every week. Probably a combo of AL also so I've stopped the AL & taken up the L-gluts again...will let you know how it goes!!
                        Happy abbercise everyone.

Wow Angelcakes - Pilates. You have my utmost respect. I tried a class once, and was so pathetic I couldn't bear to go back!

I love working out EARLY at Curves! Gets the day going on a bright note. The SMART machine guides you to a lighter workout on the 2nd day, when you work out 2 days in a row. So today was easy peasy (although more intense than my heavy workouts last week!) and I burned 310 calories. YEAH!!

Now....where are all the other Abbercisers???

                            Here i am!!

Gosh do I love that silly Wii.

I read something on the daily thread about being out of shape and beginning to exercise. Just to give you a little boost I wanted to add this. My utmost respect go out to the woman I see jogging down the street, the woman that could loose 80lbs +. She is out there 4 or 5 times a week. She is red in the face and drenched in sweat. She has a look in her face like it is taking all she can give to keep the forward progress. I can only imagine how sore her body is. How badly she has chaffed. How she at some level is embarrassed by the shape her body. I respect her because she is trying. I respect her because she is not giving in. I really want to stop and give her a high five (she'd think me nuts)

It's individual, do the sport that makes you feel good, just do something that gets you moving and raises you heart rate (after you consult your dr) After a while it will become part of your day and it will make you happy.

Angelcakes, I took a pilates class with a bunch of friends. It was so much fun!! Now, on the the sit-ups.

                              Hello everyone,

Got so wrapped up in doing for others I have forgotten to do for me. Began correcting that today as I got a 3 mile run in and managed to do some strength training. feeling much better.

Considering buying the kids the Wii. OMW you once said that you didn't buy your kids stuff like that - well I'm the same - prefer them to get some exercise and read books. They do but maybe the Wii will be their first game system.

okay I'm off to see what else I can get into...
