What do you love about your AF Life? (Inspired by Cindi)

I love feeling physically good - so VERY much better than the old drinking days. So many aches and pains are clearing up. I'm sure it has something to do with NOT poisoning myself everyday, and eating better and supplementing with good stuff and exercising. I LOVE feeling good! And I'm excited because I think it's going to keep getting better.

      IM only in the early stages but so far I love;

Not feeling guilty in the morning because I got legless the previous night.

Being richer as I have saved ?15/?18 in my 3 days of being AF and I have cut my smoking down to half what I usually smoked. (Thats the next horrible addiction thats going but not just yet)

My daughter told me today that she was really proud of me and said Im doing well, she seems happier in herself too, less moody and more open. We talk and I am not slurring.

My house is cleaner, I am doing chores when I get home instead of hitting the bottle straight away after work.

I open my fridge and I see loads of fruit juices instead of half empty bottles of wine and I dont get anxious because there is no wine there.

Those are the ones I can think of right now.

Hi..Thanks for this thread. I subscribed to it more than a month ago - but up until now (Day 8 AF) I was not able to post because I did not have AF blessings to share:

I love that I can NOW post on this thread
I love the white around my eyes (they used to be red more times than not)
I love that I am almost to the end of a week's vacation and I have no regrets
I love the absence of a morning headache
        I love having a memory
I love that I remember all my phone calls
I love that I remember all my conversations with my kids
I love that I helped my mom more than I usually am able to do on our family vacations. I enjoyed the time in the kitchen - I used to be no help at all...

OK - this one is a little "shameful" appreciation - I loved being sober watching the other people who had overindulged (I'm usually on their side of the fence). It was so darn funny. The next door neighbor fell down her steps, as she came out the door confessing very loudly that "she just farted". She didn't know we were outside and could hear her. We ran over to help her back in their cottage her husband came out and fell down the steps. Everyone was OK (may be a little sore tomorrow) but it was so entertaining. I felt like I was watching "America's Funniest Home videos". I am sure I have entertained my fair share of people!

I love being able to laugh again. Even if it's just a game of Monopoly.
God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers...

MAN!!!! That was awesome SpiritGirl ! Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto........

Had a rousing game of Scattergories last night, and it was just a tickle. Guilt-free, shame-free laughter, just plain 'hanging out' and fun was had BY ALL. Sah-weet!!!

I love reading everyone's posts in this thread when I feel discouraged about the journey. I hope it helps anyone who is feeling discouraged today!

Thanks for bumping this DG I had not seen it before... read all the way through it, and was a bit saddened to see so many names from only 3-4 months ago that I have never seen before. Come back, everyone! You sounded great in your posts!!!

What I love is what is (right now) in my signature line: getting my life back! It felt like the alcohol had taken over so much of my body, mind, spirit, and LIFE. Now I don't have to try to force myself to notice and enjoy the little things that make up a day... I just do. Right now in my part of the world, there are a LOT of butterflies, floating around in the neighborhood. I see them when I am out on my walks, and just marvel at them.

I can relate wip. I was a prisoner in my own home - just me and AL. Going through some minimal motions every day. Wake up, race to get a few things done so the drinking could begin. I have no idea why Mr. Doggy tolerated that. Well, yes I do. He wanted to "enjoy" his vice in peace too. Our life is monumentally better now that we are both truly living again!! I LOVE that part of my new AF life.

ETA: I noticed a couple of posts recently from small business owners - which me and Mr. Doggy are. Our business results are monumentally better as well now that we are both fully functional. WAY better, despite the economy. This is so good all the way around - AF is a positive force in every area of my life.

I feel a new sense of FREEDOM that I haven't felt in a long time. Hiding what you are doing and trying to pretend you are someone you are not is hard work. Right now, I feel it is harder than staying sober. I feel great and I would feel f*****g fantastic if I could quit the smokes. That is my quest for day 30. I love this thread because its focus is positive! kriger
