    Sober Summer Pledges

    Great thread Janice,

Has made me realise that I am so totally fixated with going AF that I have almost forgotten that I also have a life to lead.

    So...

Have some kayaking lessions before my trip in August.
Drop the 12 pounds I put on in May.
Read more than the first chapter on all of those books I have bought over my drinking years.
Start seeing my friends at least twice a week, they miss me.
Turn my house & garden into a green oasis rather than where plants come to die.
Remember all the birthdays so I don't have to keep apologising to hurt little faces.
Enjoy a holiday without creating a red wine club.
Learn to sit still and do nothing.
Learn to say what I really mean.
    Learn to put me first.

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them at the moment. Telling isn't it that there isn't a single work objective there, despite all the time I spend there.
Learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow - Einstein

      Sober Summer Pledges

      My "updated" list.......

      1. Paint the study (mundane, I know, but still something that desperately needs doing!!!)

      2. A helicopter ride round the Statue of Liberty!!!!! (Yikes!!!! Where did that come from!!! We're going to New York in August........I would love to do it and know theres no way I could if I was drinking!)

      3. Empty and sort out my loft before my landing/staircase is decorated in September (I know, another mundane job!!! Again, something I need to do and I couldn't be bothered if I was back drinking).

      4. Now this is DEFINITELY something I can't do whilst drinking - read a book and enjoy it!! I want to get back into reading and not be able to put a book down. The only books I can read right now are self-help books on giving up the booze. The number of books I started when I was drinking, then would give up after a few pages.....nothing was going in!

      5. Eat my homegrown tomatoes!!!!! First time I've ever grown tomatoes. Dad was the expert and this year I decided to grow some in his memory. At the moment I've got 2 little green ones on...so with plenty of tlc and Dad looking down keeping an eye, I'm hoping to have some very special tomatoes in August!

      6. More swimming. I love to swim and I need to get more of a routine going, that and the gym. Work makes it hard to fit it but I really should prioritise better and make room for it. In the summer holidays, when work's finished, there'll be no excuse. It is such an important factor of my sobriety and I'm sure a reason as to why I've felt low lately.

Well, thats all for now.......off to finish painting the loo door!!!!
