    Abbercise 9 - 15 June

dont kn ow where the other abbercisers are but while you were posting DG I was out running! First outside run for many months ...... all the rest have been on the treadmill! Bit the weather was a bit warmer and no wind, so I headed out onto the pavement. Was pretty hard and my aerobic fitness is not great ...... but I'm just going to build it up slowly. Goal is 10km by the end of October.

I've got myself one of those nike + sports kits which is a bit of fun. Today I had Lance Armstrong telling me in a breathless voice that I had done my longest run ever!!!! It cracked me up, as I've only used it 4 times, and todays run was only 0.2 km longer than my last one - up from 2.6km to 2.8km!!!!
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

That sounds like a hoot! So is Lance's voice coaching you through your run or something? Like those voices on GPS tracking devices that give you directions while driving? I'm gonna have to google that to just check it out. Good for you getting a run in the great outdoors. I bet that's way more fun than the dreadmill oops I mean treadmill when the weather is too bad.

I'm keeping track of my exercise and food intake and weight / body fat and moods and all kind of stuff in a program called Life Form. I think it's similar to FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal which is free on the web. But I had Life Form already from a long time ago and I'm used to it. Anyway...I'm glad I'm using it because some of the progress seems so slow that I wouldn't notice it at all if I wasn't making note of the details every day. I felt frustrating over not losing any weight this week, but in truth my average weight this week is down one pound from my average weight last week. So things are moving - just slowly! (I know this tracking is more anal than most folks would want to be - but I feel I have to do it if I want to ever see a wasit again!!)

I will be off to Curves when they open to get my dose of wonderful endorphins going - that will help me with Dog Training Day and the Beast triggers.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend chock full of good physical activity - whether it's "formal" exercise or not!!

OK - I think we need to send out a posse to find our abbercisers!!!

I did my light workout yesterday (it was an 80% day). The exciting thing was that the circuit coach on duty yesterday morning - the same one who did my weigh and measure when I started back on 5/22 - said I looked like I was losing inches!!! YEAH!!! I will be doing my offical monthly way and measure with her this coming Thursday - so I sort of have a baseline for my doc appointment Friday (the hormone doc) which I can't WAIT for!!

Mr. Evil (scale) has been stuck for the last several days, but the body fat% has been steadily going down. So I hope I'm building muscle and losing fat - that should be the case unless Mr. Evil is lying. My muscles are ready for the Sunday day of rest!!

For all of our abberciser runners, I thought of you all yesterday. One of the guys who trains dogs here runs the Chicago Marathon every year. Him and his training pals are now up to 10 miles every Saturday...he does that and then comes here with both of his dogs in training, and does all THAT running around - including up a steep hill going fast with a dog in tow - on "jello legs." When I see that, I know why I don't run. But I did think of you all with fondness...and absolutely NO jealously whatsoever.

Happy Sunday whatever you are doing!

        DG

Thank god for exercise and endorphins. So much better than booze. Am in a triathlon training group, training for the Danskin women's triathlon in Denver on June 29th. If you can't decide whethere to exercise or not, just do it!!

WOW!! You have my respect!! Tell us more about your training program leading up to this event. I would imagine you train at some level all the time - but at what point do you start ratcheting up and how does that go to be at the top of your game on June 29? Very curious!!

Sorry I'm slow to respond but am still trying to get the hang of this site. Seems like there are so many places to go. I'm training with about 60 women, many of whom are teachers. I found out about it at work. We have coaches; 1 main coach and then coaches for each sport. We're all shapes, sizes and ages. Some of us have done a tri before and some have not. Some just want to finish and some want to really push it. We're ratcheting up right now, working out 6 days/week, 2 sports, 1.5 to 2 hour workouts. It's fun. It's structured and gets me out of my house where I used to love to isolate and drink my summers away.
