    The abbercise posse wants YOU!!

    Hi All
Angel way to go getting in your workout on a business trip.Thats dedication!
Aunty It was a harder day for you but you still did a workout .Great !!just think that maybe that was a sluggish day for you but if you were anything like me in the past, every day I was feeling like that, and not from the workout the day before.
DG 490 burn that is a big time workout. Then getting up early to hit the gym again the next day .That i think is the type of lifestyle change that is required to get us to the place were al is not controlling our lives . Their is no doubt that you have taken back control of your life.
Sped the lifestyle you are living now can only lead you to be in control .No way can you do the training involved to compete, with al in your life.I am looking forward to your times in the Tri.Do you think you are peaking to hit PR in any of the events?
It is raining here today so no tennis. After reading about your workouts it has motivated me to step it up.I didn't have the energy before to do the light lifting along with the tennis but now I do . So off to the gym with my wife.Everyone have a nice day and a great workout

        The abbercise posse wants YOU!!

        Hey, guys,

        Can I butt in?

I've been doing an hour on the elliptical 4 or 5 times/week before MWO, plus NutriSystem - strangely, didn't lose any weight. Maybe it was that 1.5 - 2 bottles of wine/night??

I haven't worked out since starting MWO and 200 mg topa. I am 17 days AF, and the topa seems to be knocking me out. I'm frustrated because after losing a few pounds initially, I've come to a standstill, even though I'm still doing NS religiously. So I need to get back to work - I think it'll help with the drowsiness if I can just get my butt to the gym!

You all seem to be doing great - I have new resolve just reading your posts. I've had a lean, athletic body my entire life until red wine added 30 pounds within the last 3 years, and I HATE it.

          DG - way to go!!!!

Angelcakes - good to see you back! I wondered how you were! Lucky you going to China - I've never been and I'd love to.

Caysea - those thoughts are good! A week or so back I was really struggling and in a very black mood, but I managed to keep up the gym, even if I went but didn't necessarily push myself to the limit. Once I started feeling better again, I really noticed how much more energy I had, and yesterday and today were really good gym days where I felt like I had made some progress!

Hi all - looks like everyone is powering through. I did kickboxing for an hour on M&W, cardio & yoga on Tuesday. Who knows what I'll end up doing tonight.
Hope you're all having a great week!

              Hi all!

Caysea, this level of working out 6X weekly is definitely a positive lifestyle change that draws me further and further away from AL. I just can't imagine working out consecutive days this hard - and somehow trying it with a hangover. Just wouldn't...COULDN'T happen. Thanks for your words of wisdom! You really help me to see this stuff in a very positive light.

Welcome Larisa to Abberciser land. Yep - I think it's a combo of age, booze, etc. that finally catches up to us. I was fortunate not to have serious weight issues in my younger days either. But it all caught up to me between age 40 and 50. Gotta work all the angles to reverse the trend now.

Mame!! I'm so happy to hear that your workouts felt really good the last couple of days. What a nice way to head into your weekend with your friends!! Hope you are having a really good time.

Doglvr, you are doing great too! Kickboxing - WOW!!

I worked out again this morning...and now am late leaving for the hormone doc!! I'm excited about that. Will report back later...

                Hi all
time to look back and realize the effort we put into the positive this week .I am tired right now but it is from an excellent week of physical activity. My inner self feels so good .No way can you buy this feeling ,or pour it out of a bottle. The richest person can't buy the feeling we have or pay someone to do it .It has been our hard work .Interesting how the positive way of life is pushing the old lifestyle out of our lives. Can you believe I am looking forward to Monday and doing it again!

                  The abbercise posse wants YOU!!

DANG Caysea!! You had to go burst my bubble just when I was thinking maybe, just maybe I could PAY somebody to abbercise for me!!!!! hee hee.... :nutso:

I'm like you...I want this feeling to last - this really good feeling that exercising brings. I'm so glad I can do it first thing in the AM and start my day right!!

This morning was a 80% workout which is sort of a nice way to end the abbercise week - a bit of a soft landing. Well, compared to the 100% days a soft landing LOL! There was a good group at Curves this morning - more than usual for Saturday AM. Several of us were ribbing each other about it all week. Group support aka peer pressure works there too just like MWO!! And of course there...I'm quiet as a church mouse unlike here. eh em..cough cough...

I treated myself to a little Curves shopping last week and my new outfit was waiting for me this morning!! Hannah - I assume they have the same monthly clothing selection in Canada?? I was joking about the "Halloween Outfits" because they are orangy/peachy colored tops and black pants - both in various selections. So now I have my very own Halloween outfit for summer!! Hannah I got the short sleeve top that is lighter peach higher up then fades (well, opposite of fades) to darker peach on the bottom. And the cargo type pants and the jacket.

I can't believe I wear workout clothes to my business meetings on most days!! I love the dress code here at me and Mr. Doggy's business. "Dressing up for morning meetings" is a workout suit where the top and bottom match somehow. "Business casual" in the office could mean just about anything. Or nothing. And it certainly doesn't have to match - or especially in the case of nothing, look good.

I suppose I'm looking forward to Sunday off of exercise but not really. Maybe the paint will be dry enough tonight in my office so Mr. Doggy can help me position the big furniture, and I can get moved back in to my newly key lime green digs!! With the new door out to the roof top porch and bee haven!!

Sorry for the ramble that went way beyond exercise!!! Have a great day all!

                    The abbercise posse wants YOU!!

Hi abercizers! I posted about a week ago that I would soon be starting a fitness program, and that time is now. I had my fitness consultation tuesday, where they measure body parts, fat content, endurance, etc. Yesterday I went back to the gym to work out the details of my trainer contract, and the fitness consultant showed me some stretches and stuff, and worked with my on the elliptical. I did 30 minutes and didn't feel like I was going to die!! I have an elliptical at home, used it 3 times, because it feels like I"m going to die after about 3 minutes. But working out with a pro I learned that it is not necessary or even desirable to work that hard, especially at the beginning.

Tomorrow at 6am I have my first workout with my trainer. Though I'm used to being asleep at 6am, I'm looking forward to this hour. Sundays are the hardest for me to be AF and having this commitment on MOnday mornings I know I will not give in to drink. In fact, I'm now looking forward to a nice loooooooonng AF run.

Thanks for all the inspiration here.
                    FINALLY -- I'm a non-drinker!!

                      hi all,

mow, congrats on the trainer step, you will have a good time and see results. I hate being measured and the BMI thing. It is so much easire to work out when you have some direction and or a buddy/partner.
I ran this morning after church. It is amazing how much better I feel. I really thing exercise is key.

                      Happy AF sunday to all,

                          The abbercise posse wants YOU!!

Happy Abbercise Monday!!! Where is everyone? (probably out abbercising!!)

MOW - Sounds like your weekend appointment went well getting everyting lined up for your program. I needed the barfing smiley for my initial weigh and measure. But you will probably find yourself looking forward to the next one (is it monthly??) to see your progress. Not drinking really helps!! How did your session go this morning with the trainer? Hopefully you got some GOOD endorphins going to make it worth the 6AM effort!

OMW good for you on that run! I know what you mean about feeling so much better with exercise.

Deter, biking for two sounds AWESOME. What are the evening temperatures like there? I hope it cools off a bit later on?

I worked out real early again today due to so much going on. I tell you what, this group of ladies that hits Curves at 6AM everyday - they are a hoot and a half!! If laughter really is good medicine I'm gonna live to be 150. I'm young compared to the average age of this group which feels pretty good too. A couple of the machines were not reading today in the sekwet komputer but it still said I burned 405 calories so it was a decent workout. I think the komputer has pushed me to a zone where it will now take a LOT more work to continue moving up the scale of intensity. That's OK - this is where I wanted to be. The team game this week is golf, which I suck at. (Hannah - come putt for me!!) No points from me for the Red Team today!

I had a little procedure done today (very minor) but have two stitches above my belly button. Doc said no working out for a couple days - especially abs. So my compromise that I didn't tell her about is that I will take tomorrow off, but go on Wednesday and just skip the ab machines so I dont' pull on the stitches. So there. I'm SHOCKED at how disappointed I felt when told I shouldn't exercise for a couple days. The old me would have used THAT as an excuse to take off at least a week, maybe longer.

Hope everyone is abbercising their little fannies off!!

                            Hi All
I normally take sun off from tennis but instead went out and did a lite workout with my wife.Monday is my 100% go for it workout with the pro and my friend.Yes I am tired this am but will still go out latter for an easy workout.I would never have pushed myself to this level with a hangover. The sleep that comes from a hard workout is great.
Planning for not having a slip is always on my mind.I realize that increasing my workout can lead to injuries which might make me have to take time off from playing. This in the past has led me to really go overboard with my drinking. With this in mind depending on the injury i will either get right into the gym or out in the kayak to continue a routine of physical fitness.I am now planning how to live a healthy life instead of planning my next drink. For those starting out realize your life can be so different in a matter of days if you really want it.
Part of my motivation for my workouts is reading what everyone else is doing in this tread .It is not just stooping our drinking it is our lifestyle change that is so powerful. Keep contributing it helps the team

Caysea, you raise a very good point about planning NOT to fail in our AF lifestyle - even if the unexpected should happen. I turned up with a back injury several years ago that had me down and in LOTS of pain for about 6 months before I finally had surgery, and then a few more months to recover from that. I felt SO defeated and helpless and my already heavy drinking only got worse. I HOPE to never go through anything like that again, but one never knows. Having a good plan for absolutely anything is a good idea. Thanks for the great reminder!! How did your 100% day go with your pro and partner? Did you kick some a$$ and take some names????

I took yesterday off per doc's orders, but was back at Curves today. I can see why she wanted me to take a few days off because even skipping the ab machines I could feel some stretching on the stitches. Oh well...they didn't bust lose so all is OK. I'll be back at Curves tomorrow too - probably will skip the ab machines again just to stay on the safe side. OH and the REALLY hot news for today is that I did succeed in one of my three putting attempts, so I did put a couple fun points on the board for the Red Team in addition to my workout points. The Eville Scale at Curves says I have lost 9.5 pounds for the June challenge, and 11.5 pounds since I started back on May 22. That's if I was reading the dang thing right without my glasses - so I might NOT have read it right. But it was exciting for the moment!!!

Also, I have to return a pair of size 18 pants that I bought about a month ago, but haven't worn outside of my own closet yet. They are too big now. (they are also vanity sized so I'm not getting overly jazzed about it!!) I think the same is true for a pair of jeans - too bad I took the tags off and wore them one time!!! Oh well...I'd rather have to buy some new clothes than be hungover every morning of my life, and getting fatter by the day.

                              WHERE IS EVERYONE?????

MOW - how did the workout with the trainer go? Getting up at 6 can be a bugger!!!! Its great that yuo are looking forward to it!! I'm finding it particularly hard at the moment - we have just had the shortest day and at 6am it still feels like the middle of the night!

Caysea - your comments on planning for a healthy life are soooooo right! I've got a lot on at the moment, so I'm not actively trying to make other changes, but I'm finding they are happening anyway. I'm making a lot more meals from scratch in the evening, instead of making the excuse to go to the supermarket to get something pre-prepared (because then I had the excuse to buy wine).

My one indulgence is that a couple of times a week I'm now having a hot chocolate at about 4pm! Helps with the sugar cravings and fills me up a bi so that I dont go home wanting wine!

DG - you are making so much progress!! I love the feeling of my clothes being a bit looser - although haven't yet got to the stage of them being too big yet! But I think I might get there before the room changes in our house so that I can throw out my big girls clothes rather than shifting them to the other wardrobe!!

anyway, didn't get any exercise on over the last 5 days, but back at the gym today. Also got my tri-training programme sorted last week - planning on a duathlon on 5 October (4km run, 26 km bike, 4km run) as a lead in to a tri over summer! Have got to the point where I can run 2.5km now, so I just need to keep doing it regularly!!
