BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Hangover Free Challenge - Week of 6/23

hi everyone, you all sound good and I love reading what's going on in your lives. Because of my "former" lifestyle my circles of friends has become very small. Living in a very small community and always traveling away from it hasn't made many contacts at home. All of my family has passed and I am now the eldest relative for my kids and one cousin. Basically I live alone with an estranged DH mucking around in the shadows. Very strange feeling!! I'm not sad, it's just why I enjoy peeking into the activities of you guys here as we have so much in common as a base.
I unloaded the car this morning and retreated here. The smoke is soo bad that my nose stings. That's a new one. So, I'll spend time with a good book and a fan today. You all have a great weekend and I thank you very much for you thoughts.
Doggygirl: when I go to SF I always take my grand dog to the dog park. I love watching the training classes and chatting with the other visitors there except I don't sniff back. xxx g.

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Hangover Free Challenge - Week of 6/23

OK, my computer is secure. Isn't it wonderful that we all have our unique and individual talents that we can put to good use in this world! And conversely, steer clear of the stuff we're crap at. As in, I would make the worst IT-geek ever. However, I didn't panic, followed zillions of instructions on programmes I don't understand anything about and miraculously, it all worked out in the end. Phew!

Sheepish - about your Sunday drinks. A party in your house - that's great!! You can drink whatever you want. Stock up on AF beer/cider/wine or mix a fruit juice/cordial with sparkling water. Make sure you've taken L-Glut/Kudzu, that your own glass is always full with a drink of your choice, and that you've thought it all out in advance.

Speaking of which - So Thankful - what are you weekend plans? I've been saved many a time by having a sparkling grape juice drink in the house for when some craving stops by. As they can do, completely unannounced! Recently I've also taken to stocking up on Iced Smoothies for when the Ice Cream craving decides to pop around...

Aquaholic - how are you getting on? Do keep us in the loop!

Spedteach - how very impressive! Good luck!

July and Mary - happy holidays! You both sound very sorted, and we look forward to hearing all about your 'grown-up' vacations upon your return.

Gelgit - what an unsettling time you've had with the fires! Wish you luck with the house clean and a bit more peace now.

Kaddy - How were your test results? Have a restful weekend.

Louise - Getting a bit of a break with your me-time breakfast and cleaning lady sounds lovely. I know what you mean about battling the pounds. They sneak back so easily, sometimes even without a discernable reason.

Hannah - I know you've already recovered, but your red-hair story - goodness me!! Maybe that hairdresser could do you up for free next time! That and the black mini-skirt - you've had quite the week. Glad you're getting your Curves appointment and can start keeping DG company, even if (sniff) you'll be putting (some of) us to shame.

Teardrop - Welcome back! Bet you hadn't thought through the polyester suit thing. You're still so way ahead of me with those 67 days that I'm sure you'll find your footing. As for the St John's, I took that briefly some years ago and it also worked really well for me. It takes a while to kick in (maybe a week) so be patient with it.

Mame - sorry to hear about your 'second mum'. Something similar happened to me with a good friend of my mum's who felt like another mum to me - a lovely, well grounded lady from rural Canada. She contracted a weird drug-resistent infection that took her very quickly. It's rough when things like that come out of nowhere. Hang in there!

DG - so what's the verdict on the hormones? Have they brought you some zen in the middle of your car repair/office set-up hassles? You've obviously perfected the art of 'enjoying training day', so no cause for concern tomorrow.

I've been feeling so excited about yesterday that I did loads of cooking this afternoon. I'm not sure how they correlate but they just do - go figure I haven't cooked quinoa for a while so had that with creamed spinach. And then I almost lost a massive batch of lentil stew which I left to, well, stew, while I fiddled with the software but managed to rescue it before all the water had evaporated. I traipsed off to Oxford yesterday for a professional networking thing, the likes of which I always dread and haven't done in ages. And it wasn't totally smooth, and I didn't talk to everyone there, but I did meet some nice interesting people. I made a tentative appointment to meet with someone to discuss their work in two weeks when they return from a holiday. That means I'll have to work up my nerve again. DG - you are officially charged with :b&d: my ass out there. Pretty please!

        Plan a good weekend all!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Hangover Free Challenge - Week of 6/23

Hi All, It's Friday and I am getting the twinges but I am OK. I went to my first swim class and I had a lot of fun and meet some really nice Lady's. I really realized how much i missed being in the pool. I guess I was excited about it because I sprung up at 5:30 am. My hubby said wow you must be excited ha ha
I thought about what I loved to do as a kid and it all starting coming back to me. I though how much AL and stress takes away from who we really are. I miss me. I have let time pass but not anymore I will do what I love as much as possible. Thank you all so much.

Pamina, As for the weekend I have to say that usually I party most of the weekend.
I have a plan. Movie night tonight and something really good to eat.
Saturday going to take hubby to the gym to walk and talk. I think am going to plan to see an afternoon show.

          Sunday going to church. Lunch.
Thank you the grape and ice cream suggestions How did you know I like grape and Ice cream

I want to wish everyone great AF weekend. I will check back all weekend.

          God Bless

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Hangover Free Challenge - Week of 6/23

              Hi again Booze Busters!!

kaddy - you are my hero rackin' up those days!! 112. We have to plan something out-RA-geous for your 120 day bash! I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend.

sheepish, I think that determination is a KEY ingredient to getting AF. All the kudzu, voodoo or whatever in the world can't do it for you. You have to be determined, and then the aids can help get you there. You are doin' GREAT!!!

Gelgit, the smoke burning your nose sounds horrid. I admire you taking this in decent spirits with a good book and a fan. What are you reading? I like a good "who done it" mystery myself for recreational reading. What kind of dog is your Grand Dog? What sort of visitation rights do you have?

Pamina, I've heard that quinoa is really good - and especially for folks like me who have trouble with grains such as wheat. (especially wheat!) Lentil stew sounds good too. How 'bout some recipes there girlfriend??? What kind of business are you in? I assume that's what the networking event was for? Sounds like it was very successful if you ended up with some leads to follow up on. You know what???? Lot's of the people who SEEM very confident at those things really aren't deep inside. Trust me on that!! I will be happy to take responsibility for :b&d: your a$$. (gotta do what you're good at, right?)

sothankful, congratulations on Day 5!!!! :cheering: It sounds like you have a very well thought out weekend plan. Let us know what movie(s) you see and whether or not its' worth the $ for the theatre, or if we should wait for them on TV or DVD.

I actually get a day of reprieve tomorrow. The dog training that normally happens here will be happening up at our trainers place, because there is a trial there on Sunday so everyone who is trialing wants to practice on the actual field. So I will go watch on Sunday for the trial, but will enjoy some peace and quiet here at home tomorrow!

I hope everyone is having a great Friday, or Saturday in Mame's case. (Mame, I guess we get even on Sunday when it's still weekend for us, but workday Monday for YOU nanny nanny boo boo!!)

              Today's AF = Tomorrow's HF!!!!!

BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Hangover Free Challenge - Week of 6/23

Teardrop, I'm sorry you are feeling depressed. Try the St. Johns Wort and be sure to get some sunshine and exercise everyday! If it keeps up despite those (and maybe check wholistic thread for other suggestions like gaba), I would see your dr. I have been feeling so much better I tried to go off my antidepressant meds. Got off of one but when I went off the other I could tell within a couple of days. Have fun at the concert.

Gelgit, I'm so glad you did not have to evacuate. I hope the smoke clears up soon, but it sounds like it is going to be a while. Some poor people here are on their 3rd evacuation in 2 months!

So Thankful, good going on 5 days. Glad you enjoyed the pool!

Sheepish - Tonic water and lime (without the gin!) is good and also looks just like a gin and tonic. Be sure and get all your own drinks. And don't get too hungry or tired getting ready. And have fun!

Pamina, I'm so glad you got your computer working. That sounds like very healthy cooking you are doing!

Mame, the fruit and umbrella's sound like a great way to make a drink festive. That was really sweet of your friend to be so helpful.

Kaddy, you are doing so well on being AF. I hope your medical issues are under control.

Hannah, have fun with the new curves program. I hope you finally got your golf game in.

DG, have a wonderful weekend without all those people at your place! You sound so busy, a bit of time to yourself sounds good.

Endgame, hope you are doing well.

Hi to Mary and July and anyone I have forgotten (sorry!)

I'm about to have dinner. With no wine for the 4th Friday this month. (fri is my really hard day). So I bought myself some lovely flowers for the table and a new tea/juice combo. Will report if it is any good.

                        Hello everyone,
I feel sheepish and ashamed as I slipped again and drank for 4 days - this disease is truly progressive. But then, today is day 1 AF and I never want to even contemplate the mod route. I am an alcoholic and the sooner I get that into my thick skull the better. A coucellor once said to me that I am either the quickest forgetter or the slowest learner he has ever had, or both. He was right.
Louise, thanks for responding, I really appreciate.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope very nice things happen to you.
                        Love Jessie

Hello All, Yes Teardrop I think all the time that my drinking problem is a thinking problem first and foremost. If I can win the thinking I can beat the drinking!!

Jessie, don't be too hard on yourself....good to see you have committed to Day 1 again. Hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you.

Kaddy - really pleased for you that your blood tests were good and that you are in remission.
You sound like you are doing pretty well with your AF goals as well.
