Booze Busters Week of 6/30 Absolutely Fabulous Hangover Free 30 Day Challenge!

Hi all! Checkin' in one last time before dinner and a couple episodes of Desparate Housewives. Even Mr. Doggy thinks that show is hysterical! Mr. Doggy is taking advantage of the gorgeous day to get the lawn mowed which is a big project around here. I've had a productive day doing some of that closet cleaning, etc. that I mentioned this AM, so THAT FEELS GOOD!!!

louise, your mango chutney sounds awesome!! What else are you serving? I like to know these things while I'm packing up to come on over to your house.

gelgit it's great to hear from you!! Is the sun still shining??? I'm still doing rain dance - especially if you are still getting a lot of smoke. I'm sure somebody makes an AF champagne!! As soon as you get some, let us know so I can pack up my stuff at louise's house and head straight for your place.

***Thinking how it could be a lot of fun just abdicating all responsibility and just going on a Big Fat MWO House Hopping spree***

Hope everyone who is having a holiday is enjoying it AF!! Nanny nanny boo boo to all who had to work today!! I don't have to be jealous of Mame today!!

      See ya tomorrow!

I'm jealous of all the talk about mangos and tomatoes and apricots .... about 10 minutes ago it was snowing here!! Not enough to settle but it is very chilly and we have all heaters on!

Yes, there is AF champagne - well bubbles at least! Ariel (I think they are Californian) does one and we had some last night. I didn't particularly like it though - tasted quite cinnamon-like.

Dinner was okay - we had a nice time with each other, and Uncle Mame is starting to return to his normal self. But the restaurant had gone down-hill since we had been last, and there were two people at the next table who were a bit drunk and talking very loudly (interestingly, they obviously work for one of my best clients and they were talking about a lot of people that I know, and about things that are reasonably confidential. I thought to myself .... OMG, how many times have I dont that??????). Best thing about it was getting to pay the bill and seeing how much cheaper it is when we dont have wine!!!

Just talking a break in between cleaning out cupboards - have done linen cupboards and books ...... just about to do a trip to the dump and take the stuff that still has lots of life in it (I was taken with a purple and green duvet cover a couple of years ago, but I got over it very quickly!!) to the City Mission.

Have a good AF day everyone, and enjoy the 4th July Independence from alcohol party!!! ...... I haven't been counting days, but I think that at the end of today will be my longest AF stretch for about 20 years!

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't been around much - hubby being on holidays means I don't have the free time I usually do - (Help! Hubby has chained me to a golf cart!!!!!!) but have been thinking of you all...

Wishing all you in the good old US of A a happy fourth of July!

And hey, found a nice AF drink - called Silhouette Fizz - a lightly sparkling flavored water - I cut it a bit with regular sparkling water - so far I have tried Cranberry-Raspberry, and have a bottle of Citris in the fridge to try next. I took a small thermos, filled it with ice, and then poured in the "Fizz", and took it golfing with me today - and when the refreshment cart came around, I just bought a bottle of water and kept topping up the thermos - just great, and very thirst quenching.

Raising a toast of Fizz 'n Water to you all! Have a great weekend!

Booze Busters Week of 6/30 Absolutely Fabulous Hangover Free 30 Day Challenge!

Good Day Booze Busters!! Happy Saturday/Sunday. Well, it will be happy for Mame if the sun comes out, and the temperatures get too warm to make snow. And some rain for Gelgit please, and some lower temperatures in California and Florida and probably AZ and NM too. (any other weather related requests while we are doing weather dances?????)

1967 - I assume the unpleasant week you refer to is getting free of AL unpleasantness? Hope other things in life are OK. If not, let us know who we need to go see. :b&d: YOU CAN DO THIS. It's going to get better, and who wants to repeat Week 1 over and over?? (I'm personally DONE with that I hope!!) Keep hangin' in there. Do you have your plan all ready for the beach party tonight so you can enjoy the music AF? I'm still LOL over your good idea of "no drinks for me - I'm tiffin' for the Mrs. America Pageant..." I swear I AM going to use that. Since today is dog training, I might just get the chance sooner rather than later!

Mame.....I can't even imagine SNOW. Yikes. But you will be rubbing it in about 6 months from now where you are :beach: and we are...where's the shivering smiley??? I'm glad that Uncle Mame is returning to normal. I'm sure that makes home life a lot more pleasant!! HEY - your purple and green duvet cover sounds like something I would like!! (purple is my favorite color of all time). I cringed reading about the people sitting near you at dinner who were yabbering on about people you know. YIKES I don't even like to think about the number of times I've done that at a volume that is way too high. :sofa:

kaddy - hopefully the cheerleaders will help you cook today!!! Congratulations on your 120 days AFHF!! You are truly an inspiration. Glad you are home safe and sound from your trip to your son's place!

Hannah - we need a "chained to the gold cart" smiley!!!! Hope you and Mr. Hannah are having a really fun week of golf and goofing around. That new AF "Fizz" drink you found sounds really good! I need to remember to buy a thermos so on road trips I can take something like you mention of my own mixing - not just rely on 100% pre-bottled stuff. Louise Special Roadies would be good! Of course I am ALWAYS thinking of you, but I will be having special thoughts of you on Monday when you get set up for computerized torture at Curves. Enjoy your weekend!!

I am HAPPY to be 45 days AFHF today. I'm half way through the second 30 day stint, half way to 90 days which will be a first for me in my adult life. (LOL 61 days will be a first!) 45 feels a bit special. No way will I blow this stretch just because people will be drinking beer after dog training today. Doc made an adjustment to my hormone doses on Friday, and I think we are making forward progress!! I woke up several times last night, but fell back to sleep quickly which has been a real problem. YES!!!! Mr. Eville Scale has been kind as well which is a good sign for getting my metabolism back to normal. That part is not just about weight, but it's also about having good energy levels throughout the day. That will be nice when complimented by a good night sleep LOL!

I recently bought a bunch of XL and 18 sized clothes from Lands End. (Lands End is the leader in vanity sizing too...) I am happy to report that they are already too big so I boxed up what I hadn't worn yet for return. That gets a double wide from me!

I really missed Curves yesterday (closed for the holiday) and am chomping at the bit to get there this morning before dog training. Trying to work out back in my perpetual hangover days was excrutiating. Now it just energizes me for the day and I also feel like I'm getting control back over my body.

I hope everyone has a wonderful plan for an AF Saturday/Sunday!!!! Keep on Bustin' :alf:

Booze Busters Week of 6/30 Absolutely Fabulous Hangover Free 30 Day Challenge!

                  Good day BBs!!

I went on a binge, bender, drink fest last night!! No, I'm not kidding!!.... But it was on AF beer :H Still, I haven't been in a pub, drinking beer with former drinking buddies like that in over 2 months. I had ***5*** bottles of AF beer! Here's what happened. The first one tasted kind of bitter and I wasn't initially that keen on it. Then I REALLY REALLY wanted the second one. We changed pubs and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the third one. But after that I pretty much lost interest, and just had the last two to keep the guys company. They of course had pints to my bottles, which were pretty small anyway at 275ml. Interestingly, I didn't get any jibes about being AF. They just seemed happy to have me back in a pub drinking beer of some variety. I'd had a big lunch but missed dinner time and really wilted in the end. That hasn't happened when I've had tonic water or cordials in similar situations before. Last night it was like someone just unplugged me from a power source, I was exhausted. I also woke up with a stuffy head this morning. It's not quite a proper headache but it's not a normal head either. And I also had a bit of a sore throat, which I hate and used to get a lot, especially from wine. Interesting experiment: my first AF binge!!

I have loads more to say, but I think I'll go to the farmers market after all. So catch you later and have a good start to the weekend everybody!

Could have been the carbs in the AF beer.

Monigh all. Had an early start as my dad decided to call me before dawn to ask me some questions. :upset: It was a good sleep although not as long as I would have preferred. I gently reminded him that he was not supposed to call if it was dark.

I ran an errand that was right next door the my favorie spirits store. Nary a twinge! I bet they wonder if I moved away - and I even rotated! Gosh, THAT was work! Trying to remember which one you'd been to.

Lots more to do, work in the hole and then sauna and soak. I was sick yesterday so maybe I'll try out my new swim goggles today & see if I can make it to the end of the pool :H

My plan is busy, busy, busy. and I don't crave anyway (for the most part). I think about it from time to time but not so much in a craving way. Tomorrow willl be 3 weeks!

                        Good Morning All

Happy 5th of July (or 6th as the down under case my be)

Doggy- good for you and the curves thing. Losing weight is one of the things that I hope to come out of all this too.

                        1967- How was the concert?

Pamina- I have never seen anyone in such a jolly mood about a binge. Fantastic.

Greeneyes- three weeks. Three weeks. wowee.

Mame- I am starting to wish for snow as I am just not the girl who enjoys the heat. I'm melting....

Louise- my day by day AF pal - hope you are doing ok. I am now on AF day 4, which is usually the 'tough' one for me to get through. But I WILL.

Thank you all and happy, safe weekend

Hi All sounds like everyone is doing so great. I drank yesterday 4th of July and it was a lot like i would never get to drink again. I am disgusted with my self. I feel of course ill today and all through the night. I don't want to give up. I am going to keep trying. I think I need to look at this process in a different light.

Yahooo!!! 120 days for Kaddy! You are an inspiration.

My goodness Mame and DG! Your housecleaning sprees are something to behold. I’ll happily make you mango salsa if you come over and do mine. DG, that is wonderful about the clothes. Maybe I should have you send the used ones to me. I find when I throw in the towel and buy new clothes that fit, I often lose weight. Has not worked this time, scale still barely moving. I have been reading the info on your hormone, thyroid, etc. thread and pondering.

Glad you are having fun golfing Hannah. Pamina, sorry you are feeling not quite right today. Hopefully the trip to the farmers market and fresh food will perk you up. I agree it might be all the carbs in the AF beer. Plus it is not 100% AF, has like .05% so you would have gotten a small amt of AL. It is possible you might be slightly allergic to something is beer as well with the stuffy head and sore throat.

Geenie, so glad things are going well in the not craving dept. Congrats on 3 weeks.

Sheep, this day 4 will be different. It will be easier than day 3! I just know it.

My small party was great. I took 2 AF beers and only drank 1. Had iced tea, and the hostess quite happy to make it for me, didn’t seemed fazed at my request when almost everyone else was having mojitos and mint julips. Resisting these was no problem as I never drank them in the first place. Wine at dinner was a bit more of a temptation but I had my beer and was fine. The mango salsa was a hit so here is recipe:

1 mango, 1 each red and orange (or yellow) pepper, ? small red onion, 1 jalepeno pepper. Chop all of above. Mix with juice of 1 lime, ? can black beans drained, ? cup good olive oil, salt, black pepper and some chopped cilantro to taste.

Hi to 1967, Marshy, Teardrop, Gelgit and anyone else still to check in! Have a fabulous Saturday!

Booze Busters Week of 6/30 Absolutely Fabulous Hangover Free 30 Day Challenge!

                              hey peeps!

Yes, the unpleasant week I mentioned was this first week of AF. Today is day 8.... perhaps things will get easier? I know I'm not in the clear... it seems I never will be. But right now I feel okay.

I should get ready to head out, over the hill, to our gathering. Jefferson Airplane is playing tonight, everyone remembers them no? And Ambrosia!
I've had a nice nappy, and I know what I have to do. I will spend 2 hrs and then head home.
I did have a look at the booze busters thread but didn't have time to stay there long.
I feel a bit pressed for time just now however I will check in later!
I am going to do what is best for me for the long run, not short term. No vino per me. Niente!!
                              Bisoux a tous!

                                Wahhoooo!

I did it!! Not a drop of AL did I drink!!!! (I am actually rather amazed!!!!)
The music was nice but I left after 2 hrs & 15 minutes... wise move I'd say on my part (good advice of doggygirl? i don't remember precisely who?).
The beach was packed... very very nice time! I am SO PROUD OF MYSELF!
AND I actually had a nice time. There was one weak moment when I went to use the toilet in the hotel. I saw a sumptuous big glass of red wine as I passed the bar that was calling out to me... but I was strong! I thought about having one and snuggling into one of the sofas and waiting til my friends arrived. But I didn't, and that is what counts! I hope everyone else did well too. This site is really helping... making me accountable for my actions. Even if I don't know anyone, it's okay. I think the time is right, and with the proper perspective I can improve my life.
                                Thank you.
                                Joy
