    BOOZE BUSTERS Week of 8/11 (A)bsolutely (F)abulous (H)angover (F)ree 30 Day Challenge

Happy Saturday (or Sunday) Booze Busters!!!

I'm feeling really good this morning. Yesterday we had computer problems. First we found out that we had no choice but to upgrade our e-mail system from an old old version (we use Goldmine) because a couple of our web site customers use AOL for e-mail, and AOL made some changes that just made e-mail unreliable for these customers. The problem was with picture attachments, but when you are managing a web site for a dog breeder who constantly has new litters, dogs for sale coming and going, etc. - not reliably getting the e-mails with the change info and pictures is a big problem!! So we sucked it up and bought the upgrade.

As we were contemplated that expenditure, the server crashed. Mr. Doggy is very good technically which is why we are running such old stuff - he can keep it going for a very long time!! But finally, it was time to change our Windows server software from a version that is over 10 years old to something more current. And while we're at it - might as well replace the hard drives. So more $$$$. But I'm happy today because Mr. Doggy got it all fixed up during the night. What's the silver lining in this cloud, you ask?? They way things are set up I had internet and hence, MWO all day yesterday. And we're having a good month so that will help us pay the $$$$ for the Software Purchase Extravaganza. Life IS good, despite a few bumps in the road.

louise, I'm glad you made it through Friday!! Congratulations. Your posts sound exhausted. I really do hope you are finding some room this weekend for self pampering. Hopefully Mr. louise is doing some pampering on you too.

Marshy, the Phelps montage sounds hilarious. (Jaws is a favorite movie of mine - one of the few DVD's we actually own around here!) I hope somebody puts it up on Youtube!!! I wanna see it!! (like I want to see more of Michael....but I'll make and exception for this.) LOL on your statement
I was happily single but now I'm getting sober I'm feeling ready to inflict myself on someone again
That's the funniest way of saying "maybe I'm ready to start dating again.." that I think I've ever seen. I hope you find someone who is nice and also hot to inflict yourself upon. :h:H

Mame, I'm so glad you sound at peace about Kitty. Are you thinking of another kitty? I know some people need time to grieve, and other people like to fill the hole that one pet leaves by getting another one soon. I'm one who fills the hole soon but understand the other POV as well. Sorry you are having trouble with your internet connection - now THAT would be FRUSTRATING. I hope they get it fixed soon. And no, I do not want to share calories without sharing the actual decadant food!! I'm so glad you are feeling at peace with your life. You sound really good in spite of the sadness of the weekend.

BOOZE BUSTER RECIPE EXCLUSIVE!!! Mame's talk of ice cream and other talk of "Frosty's" yesterday prompted me to try a recipe called 5 Minute Ice Cream that I got from All recipes – complete resource for recipes and cooking tips - my most favorite recipe site in the world these days. Mr. Doggy likes to make ice cream in the big ice cream maker, but it makes too much and takes to long and is too big of a mess for regular use (IMO). So that's only used for special occassions when we have lots of people here.

All this recipe requires by way of equipment is a food processor with S blade.

1 10 oz. package frozen strawberries (I used rasberries)
1/2 cup sugar (I used Whey Low Sugar for Ice Cream - it's lower carb and lower GI Index than sugar)
    2/3 cup heavy cream

Combine the frozen strawberries and sugar in a food processor or blender. Process until the fruit is roughly chopped. With the processor running, slowly pour in the heavy cream until fully incorporated. Serve immediately or freeze up to one week.

I want to experiment with Stevia, but I don't think it will work the same at all without the texture and properties of sugar. So the whey low seemed the right alternative to experiment with. It turned out pretty good. It was slightly grainy from the sugar. I might try regular whey low D (lowest GI version) next and see how that is, and they try with Stevia although I think that might end up just strawberry (or rasberry or whatever) whipped cream. That would be OK too though LOL! It was a very nice treat and easy / fast to make.

Well it's Day 87 AF and I can't wait for 90 and another :award:. I love my :bling don't ya know. I hope everyone has a great AF plan for the day!! Have a great one!! Kick some Booze Beast ASS out there!!! WE CAN!!

      BOOZE BUSTERS Week of 8/11 (A)bsolutely (F)abulous (H)angover (F)ree 30 Day Challenge

Hey Doggygirl...for your doggygirl day have Mr.Doggy do this up for ya..

      Roasted Olives

Get your favorite olives, calamati, green olives, black olives, whatever you like...if I am really treating myself I go to the "fancy" grocery store and do the olive bar..but don't get ones that are already spiced..pre-roasted garlic is also good in this...

So anyway put the olives in a piece of foil, enough foil so that you can make a packet and seal it all up... add some lemon and orange peel twists...just take a peeler and get some strips....perhaps 4, 4" pieces of each...depends on how many olives you have. I do 2 cups usually....then add about 1 Tablespoon of fennel seeds....a few twists of fresh ground blackpepper...and a drizzle of olive oil...

Seal it up and put in the oven, 350 degree or so, you can really throw it in with anything that you are baking so temp is not critical. In oven for about 30 minutes....take a peek if its steamy then they are ready....

They are excellent , I love them the next day cold also, the lemon and orange comes out more the next day....if you plan on some the next day may need to make more to start with....

You will know if you had enough the day before if you have a salt hangover the next day... you know that feeling....fingers dont bend well, puffy eyes..whenever my sister and I get together and have an appy party (just appetizers for dinner) we do the salt test the next morning....other things that get you there are blue cheese balls, artichoke dip, spinach bacon spread, deviled eggs ( they have chopped olives in them too) cheese platter, scotch eggs, party mix...etc...o.k. now I am hungry
      workout:chick:mwo2

It's my world to make now...cuz I found my way out.

Well if I weren't stuffed still from dinner out (seafood risotto) I'd be hungry. Both the ice cream and olives sound delicious! Tomorrow is day 6. Time to get serious about getting back on the stricter eating plan now that I'm back on board with being AF. Tomorrow is day 7.

mwo thank you for the olive recipe - now you've made ME hungry!! I will definitely try that. LOL on you and your sister and the salt test! I can tell from your list that I will be bugging you for recipes often.

louise - seafood risotto is making me even hungrier!! I hope you and Mr. louise had a nice relaxing evening out. I hope today is "louise day" just like it's "doggygirl day" around here! Congratulations on day 7!!! You are doing great. You too mwo!!

Happy Booze Bustin' Sunday (Monday for Mame...sorry Mame!). I'm watching the Men's floor exercise final on the Russian feed right now. The two guys who qualified with the highest scores (who were amazing in every other way) both fell on their butts. Wish I could understand what the commentators are saying. The Russian dude is currently second with 3 left to go - I'm sure they are excited about a medal possibility. Or maybe they are talking about something else - like mwo's appetizer recipes. How would I know??

I've GOT to get after my picture editing today from dog training. I've been pretty lax about taking a lot of pictures lately (but I took a lot yesterday). But I have not gone through any pictures in about 2 months so that chore has piled up. I really nice young kid has been coming here with his Dad (well, the whole family sometimes comes). His Dad trains a pit bull. The son JUST got a new puppy (Boxer) that he is going to train in Schutzhund. The puppy is just a baby so they are doing fun foundation work - they are so cute. And it's clear the son has been listening closely - he did exactly what he was supposed to do yesterday for his first time on the field. I promised Mom that I would get an updated slide show up on the web site including a picture of him and the pup so he can show off to his friends.

It's AFHF Day 88 here and there will be no AL in my Day. With everything on my list of things I want to get done, I'm not sure how much :sofa: there will be today either. I need to bring out my inner procrastinator and hit the sofa!

ETA: Because I'm SURE you are dying to know the Men's Floor Exercise event final result....VEREE cute little Spanish dude did a great exercise....blew kisses to the crowd and got silver. China gold, bronze to Russia and the announcers are in a frenzy of excitement over that.

LOL why are you watching a Russian channel?? Is that a time difference thing?
I'm enjoying the athletics - Usain Bolt in the 100m yesterday was spectacular - and will be firmly ensconced on the sofa for a couple of hours yet. All this food talk is making me hungry, so I'll throw some veg in the oven to roast while I'm vegging in front of the TV.

Good morning all... those olives sound damn good... I have a friend coming over this evening, maybe I'll do that! I watched a bit of women's swimming last night after the movie with friends, the relay with that MAGNIFICENT woman from USA what is her name??? The one who is in her 40's and has the BODY???
Anyway she finished the relay nearly making up the distance and winning gold for her team, showed a lot of class I thought. They all did. Amazing athletes!

              Everyone have a good day...

                  Hi Marshy and wip!

He he - I like my gymnastics and this channel is showing the event finals live - and showing every gymnast v. the US broadcast which will air tape delay tonight, and probably only a fraction of the competition. I discovered this service as I am also an avid figure skating fan (the Wedgies! The Hair!! The Sequins!! The Drama!! And that's just the Men's division!!). Many of the big competitions aren't shown at all in the US - or are tape delayed for weeks. In Europe (east primarily) and Japan, they tend to broadcast a lot of stuff live, and there are usually internet feeds you can find. This Russian one has a VERY good picture and is very reliable, but you have to subscribe to get it. But you can do that by the month and at the current exchange rate it's about $23. So to get my sports live and ALL competitors - it's worth it to pay for just in the months where events of interest are on.

WOW I've got the action from yesterday Tivo'd. I'll have to go back and watch the women's swimming from last night. (or I imagine there is good video on the NBC Oly web site??) Wip I didn't see it obviously, but I saw a fluff piece on the woman you are talking about and MAN is she fit and buff!! She can stand next to any of the young athletes and hold her head high in the fitness department. (gets me wondering if I have even a fraction of those muscles hiding somewhere under the flab!!) Cool that she was such a factor in the race!!

Oops - I love Cheng Fei's floor routine and I'm sure she was a gold contender - but she just landed on her ass. Other Chinese girl rocked the house though.

                  Yak later ladies!!!

I'm not a big sports person so have not watched any but have read about Dana Torres, the 41 yr old swimmer who won silver with amazement. She retired after the 2000 olympics, then decided to compete again when her daughter was 2!!! My husband and I were laughing that perhaps she found all that training easier than staying home with a 2 year old. (If we got any decent channels we probably would watch some but since we hardly ever watch tv we refuse to pay $35 a month for basic cable and get 3 fuzzy channels without it.)

Morning all! Hope you do get to do some of the vegging out on the sofa you planned DG. I will be trying to do laundry, etc. today and much less vegging. Lately all my vegging time has been spent on here and I did waayyyyyyyyyy too much of that yesterday. I think I learned my lesson. It was so insane in newbie and general that I ended up somewhat paranoid and not trusting anyone outside of regular abs posters and those who have been members at least 6 months. Fortunately I seem to be back to normal but I have promised myself that abs section and subs are it for me today!

It is cooler here today, very nice so hope to get out. Hope you all have a great day!

Well louise, no vegging yet but I'm finally headed in that direction. It has been a good "me" day though - lots of good soul searching about my long term abstinence goals. I'm realizing that I've reached another "starting point" if you will - for what feels like a next phase in re-claiming my life. There is so much more I can do with it. I'm not sure what exactly that will be yet, but I need to search.

My days now are LIGHT YEARS better than they were just a few months ago. And even those daily drinking days more recently were better than the totally hopeless ones the year before that. But now it's time to really look forward, and decide what I want to be when I grow up. Who will the sober Doggygirl become?? I don't know but I'm excited about it.

louise it sounds like you had a relaxing weekend - hopefully you enjoyed some of that cooler weather today!! I hope your batteries are re-charged a little bit.

I'm going to start a new thread for next week tonight in case I don't get a chance to come on here before I leave tomorrow AM - it's going to be a really early one. Congratulations to all who KICKED BOOZE BEAST ASS this week!!
