    BOOZE BUSTERS-Week of 8/18 30 Day (A)bsolutely (F)abulous (H)angover (F)ree Challenge

Happy Monday all you Booze Busters out there!

(and Happy Tuesday to our New Zealand Booze Busters and anyone else in the way out time zones!)

On-going Booze Busters, go to the next post! For anyone new, here's what us Booze Busters are all about.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: What the sam hill is a Booze Buster?
A: Anyone who has a serious goal of staying Hangover Free (HF) (=Alcohol Free (AF)) for 30 days in a row, no matter what.

Q: Do I have to join at the start of the month?
A: NO!! Your "Day 1" can be at any time. And if you are already into your first month or your hundredth month AF, you can join at any time. All who desire to be AF for at least 30more CONSECUTIVE days are welcome.

Q: Why are you being such a hard a$$ about 30 consecutive days AF?
A: Because that's how tough I have to be on myself to succeed, and this challenge is meant to be "tough love" when it comes to the goal.

Q: What if I fall off the wagon - do I get kicked out?
A: NO!! We do hope you will let us help you dust off the seat of your pants, and drag you right back onto the Booze Busters wagon. You will get your butt kicked, but you won't get kicked out. Oh - and we have a Fugly Green Suit you have to wear for a day during your butt kickin'. That polyester green suit with high water pants is worse than the butt kickin'. Give back your stars and bling and start over at Day 1 (for purposes of this challenge).

Q: What if I am tempted to drink - really really badly tempted?
A: Come here for a kick in the seat of the pants! Read inspirational threads from start to finish, and if the desire to drink still exists, scream for help in the "Need Help Now" Section and yell for someone to join you in chat. (I wish I had done all that before the falls!!)

Q: What does the Booze Beast look like?
A: :alf: Is one ugly SOB.

Q: How does the group keep track of what day people are on?
A: We count on YOU to shout out your stats loud and proud every day in whatever way suits you. For me, I'm collecting a gold star *
for every AF day out of due respect for my inner child. At 30 days, collect your :bling (thank you Liv for the bling bling word!) Grab a shiny gold :award: for every consecutive 30 days. SHOUT OUT YOUR OWN MILESTONES so we can help you celebrate!

Speak up if you have other questions!! We are here to prove that WE CAN DO THIS! And that we can have a little fun while we're doing it! Let us know if you have suggestions as to how we can improve the BOOZE BUSTERS 30 Day Perpetual Challenge.

GOOD DAY BOOZE BUSTERS and :colorwelcome: Wild Rose!! We are very glad to have you aboard. Setting your sites on 30 days of sobriety will be a GREAT start. Have you posted more about yourself in the Getting Started section or Your Story section? If so, let us know so we can read more about you. If not, please tell us more about yourself!!

Hi July!!! Wild Rose, July was one of the original Booze Busters here over a year ago - and look at where he is now. Thanks as always July for "flying by" to motivate us!!

Today is Day 89 Absolutely Fabulous Hangover Free. WOO HOO!! I am so happy about it. I cannot wait for 100 days - tripple digits - now THAT hasn't happened since BEFORE I turned 18, I'm sure. Gulp. That's over 32 years ago.

Today has already been a productive day!! Saw the gymnastics event finals in the pre-dawn hours - today was rings and vault for the men and uneven bars for the women. Then workout, Monday leads group meeting, office supply shopping and a few boring objects from the grocery store. The farmers market I THOUGHT was closed is actually still in business - just a different location I guess. So sometime today I'm off to find that. If I can, I'm getting a bushel of tomaotes to start canning many.

I hope everyone survived the weekend AF. Let's KICK BOOZE BEAST A$$ TODAY!!!

Yes, congratulations Doggygirl on your achievement! You must feel so great!

Yes, I posted a bit about myself yesterday in the Getting Started section under the thread titled "Thanks in advance for listening." I don't know if I specifically stated it in my intro, but I think that my long-term goal is more along the lines of moderation, although I am not yet sure. At any rate, I thought that 30 days would be a good start no matter what. I was eager to get started and when I saw your "ad" this morning, I thought that it would be perfect to join up.

Thanks for putting this together and for your enjoyable explantion of how it works!

              Thank you Doglvr!!

Wild Rose, I think you are wise to shoot for 30 days AF before you decide. If 30 days without alcohol seems really difficult, you might decide doing without would be better. On the other hand if the 30 days seems reasonable, then working on moderation makes sense. There is a high % of people here that are truthfully too far down the dependency path to be able to moderate successfully. I'm one of them - I just can't stop at one or two. OR - to MAKE myself stop at 1 or 2 is such a battle that it's not worth the fight and aggravation. There ARE several successful moderaters here. While you are whooping it up with us here in Booze Busters for your first 30 days, you might want to reach out to those who have successfully moderated for a year or more to see how they've done it. (Jude is one...I know there are others)

I can't believe this day has FLOWN by so fast. Still have lots I want to accomplish so I'm gonna dash. One thing is for sure - AL has no place in my day!!!! Best wishes to all for a great AF rest of the day. I hope more booze busters come out of hiding tomorrow.

Welcome Wild Rose. Glad you found us. Good to see you July and Dog Lvr. Wow DG, tomorrow is 90 days! Congratulations! Seems very quiet today. Hi to Marshy, Pamina, Mame, Greenie, Sothankful and anyone I missed. Does anyone know what is up with Hannah? I have not seen her around for a while. No great thoughts tonight, turning in early at the end of day 8.

Hello BOOZE BUSTERS Louise, July, Wild Rose (welcome!), DogLvr and everyone to come

                  Congratulations Doggygirl
                  on 90 days!!

:goodjob: and thank you for all the energy & fun you put into this thread to give us all a place to come and anchor.

I had a v busy day yesterday topped off by an emotional counselling session (we're starting to discuss some nitty gritty issues now - arrggh), then went to the gym to take it all out on an unsuspecting rowing machine. Oh, followed by a huge curry

                  Have a great day all!

Ditto from me to DG (on the 90 days) and to Wild Rose (for the welcome!). And to everyone else for the start of the week waves!!:wavin::wavin::wavin:

My broadband still really slow at home and didn't have time today to get onto MWO at work. So I will just keep doing quick check ins when I can! I keep having thoughts that I want to post, but am still a but busy .... have been working my butt off over the past week and caught up on a few things. Is a great relief as next week I am having a week off, and I was thinking I might have to take some work with me! (and actually I will anyway, but it is something I am looking forward to doing so it doesn't count!!)

Yesterday I woke up with advanced Monday-itis and decided to have a spontaneous day off because I was feeling so blah! Was a very good thing to do and by 2pm I was sick of myself and ready to get back to work! Today I was up and at the gym very early and made up for yesterday in both quality and quantity!

Marshy - keen to hear your reflections on the counseling when you have a chance to reflect.
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

GOOD DAY BOOZE BUSTERS!!!!!! I will have a permanent smile on my face today because it's Day 90, and YOU guys help make me feel really good about that. I'm smiling and it's about 5:10AM here. Back in the drinking days, being awake was not possible at this hour, much less being awake, smiling, already have a load of laundry and some accounting work underway. AF LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

Thank you thank you for all the nice 90 Day messages!!!

louise, congratulations on Day 9!! How are you hanging in with work, and also helping your sister? You still sound a bit drained - I hope you are doing OK. Good to be AF - alcohol would not help and would actually drag you down in the end. I did hear from Hannah and she said she was just very very busy. She reads to catch up and then runs out of time to post! I think we've all felt that way sometimes. Better to just skip to the end and say hi rather than try to read everything and respond to everyone personally when short on time!! So Hannah if you are reading, just post and say hi!!

Marshy, you crack me up. I bet rowing machines the world over are in hiding right now. It sounds like your counseling sessions are really ramping up to the serious stuff. I hope you are finding them beneficial. You are making me hungry with that curry talk!

Wild Rose, I'm glad you are spending lots of time reading here at MWO. That's such a good idea - will help you formulate your own strategy. I hope you have a good day today!!

Mame - next week is the vacation for you and Uncle Mame, right? I think I have cob webs in my head. It's nice to know that my forgetfulness is not due to AL - it's just due to......me. Age. Whatever. I like your advanced Monday-itis solution. I can't wait to tell Mr. Doggy one of these days that I have Advanced Monday-itis and the only solution is to take the day off!!! Tell us (again, I'm sure) where you are going next week. Is spring coming finally in your neck of the woods?

I've got a busy morning as usual - I will start out at Curves, then to the Chamber of Commerce meeting, then a WHOLE bunch of errands. I hope to be back to the office by 10:30 or so, but that will be pushing it. I got some packages in the mail last night of stuff I ordered. Can't wait to try it all on and hope it fits!!!

Thanks again for making this day a special one for me. I still can't believe after so many years of daily drinking, I have gotten this far. I do feel a bit like my sobriety needs a much stronger foundation under it. I'm exploring some different tools and programs that might help me in that area. I think I have a lot of self exploration to do - figuring out what "Phase Next" of my life will be. I want more purpose in my life. I can't believe how much time I have wasted cozying up with AL. :egad:

LET'S KICK SOME BOOZE BEAST A$$ TODAY!!!! We CAN do it.
