September Abbercise - GET OFF THAT SOFA!!!

    Hi All
Great weather in my part of Florida today.Decided to do one of my bike courses which takes me over the bridge to the next barrier island. It was a 30 mile ride that at times you see the gulf of Mexico with the different shades of blue and aqua blending together.Temp between 85-90 just a beautiful day. Then came home to watch the U S Open Tennis match. Life is great

September Abbercise - GET OFF THAT SOFA!!!

      Good day abbercisers!!

Friday my main man and I ran 3 miles together....it was a date. You get those kind of dates when you have 6 kids.

ROde my bike yesterday and today plan on a long run. It in the low 70s and breezy. I am looking forward to the run in cool temps!!

      Happy trails,

Wow that ride sounds LOVELY, caysea! Good going, OMW....

It finally stopped raining here, had a very nice ride, my longest so far this summer (about 45 minutes). Stopped at the midpoint for coffee and an oat bran bar, and a short walk through a local art festival that was just getting set up.

Hoping everyone is getting out (or in!) and doing something active... it sure feels good.

Sounds like everyone is doing really well.

I haven't been posting because I hve been a bit blue.. but have kept up with the sessions in front of the DVD and have lost a couple of cms from my waist already. Funny how a little success motivates you to keep going.

Have a really busy week but when possible I am planning to get off the train a stop early on the way home and walk the extra few miles. Should clear the brain after a busy day as well as rack up an excercise point or two.

September Abbercise - GET OFF THAT SOFA!!!

Good abermorning!! Never did run yesterday?..stayed in and did a load of cooking. This morning I hooked mini man?s rig to my bike and took him to preschool. I plan on the same for pick up. It?s nice to get the exercise and not burn any petrol. Hope to run tonight while my boys are at soccer, there are nice trails at the pitch.

Loppy, you?re right on!! A bit of success really motivates me too. I finally weighed myself and have shed 7 pounds, look out skinny jeans!

            Happy trails!!

September Abbercise - GET OFF THAT SOFA!!!

                GOOD DAY ABBERCISERS!!!! :b&d::sofa:

Well, actually, we need a smiley with NOBODY hiding behind the sofa!! Man I can't believe it's been a few days since I posted here!! All exercise has been on track. Sunday was my day off, then right back to it yesterday and today.

WIP - your bike ride where you stopped 1/2 way and checked out the festival sounds like fun!!!! And good that you are seeing results right away. That IS motivating! But what on earth are you talking about suggesting I be nice to my (fl)abs???? I'm the queen of :b&d:!!!!! STOP WHINING YOU (FL)ABS!!! DROP AND GIVE ME 3!!! (well, we can't handle 20 just yet but we're working on it!)

USMgirl - WOW your workout yesterday sounds killer!! And congrats on Day 5 and hopefully a solid Day 6 today. EXERCISE HELPS!!!

Caysea - I am envious of your long bike ride with the beautiful FL scenery!! So how was the US Open? Any big upsets or exciting stuff like that?

OMW - the only way I would run 3 miles on a date is if the date were a really, really really bad one. Actually, there was a time nearly 30 years ago when I threw open the door while a car was still moving, kicked off high heeled shoes and ran like the devil was after me - that to avoid a date rape situation. EWWWW running and dates...not for me!! But glad YOU had a good time! SIX CHILDREN???????? Please tell me life is wonderful and you are the second coming of the Brady's!!!! I smile every time I read about you and mini man and "the rig." Congrats on 7 lbs!!!!

Loppy, YOU GO GIRL!!! :cheering: Glad the DVD's are already giving you results. I LOVE your idea about getting off the train a stop early and getting some extra walking in. That will not only be good for your exercise program but I bet a very nice stress reliever after work. YAY!!

My (fl)abs are finally getting almost back to normal. Still a bit sore on the Torture Trak, but certainly I can work on abs again which I did a weenie version yesterday, and back to "normal" which is "beginner beginner" today. Had a good workout yesterday and today at Curves. It's poker week and I'm pleased to have won $2 Curves Bucks yesterday AND today!! (easily entertained??)

I saw someone today who I haven't seen since before I quit drinking (May 22 2008 version of that) and before I lost any weight. He was like WOW!!! Made me smile that's for sure!

Retail therapy has to stop someday, but not today as I bought a couple new pairs of earrings (haven't worn them at all in a long time...). And it won't stop tomorrow as I have an appointment to get my annual eye check and already know I will come home with 2 new pairs of glasses - hopefully very funky ones. Maybe on Thursday the retail therapy will stop.

Have a great abbercizin' day everyone!!

                  well done USMGirl!

OMW, a running date? wow...thats fantastic.

well I went to my martial arts class today for the first time in many months. I'm walking funny now! it sure feels good to be beat up and a little bloody (somebody cought me in the face with a knee).
we did wrestling take downs which are really a strenuous full body workout. I'm definitely going to keep my wrestling shoes in the car from now on as the skin is all torn off on my toes. owie!
amazingly that is what I call a great fun time

Keep up the good work you all!

Doggy, I think we went out with the same guy......I wonder how many other girls ran out of his car, slimy bastard, bet he ended up with a complex. :H
Honestly, if I didn't then run a sub 6 min mile, I would have been a number on a report. It amazes me how often that happens and how few are reported. Sadly, it never occured to me to tell me parents. Been a long time ago but I think I figured I would get in some kind of trouble, go figure. Knowing my rents as I do now, I know that would not be the case.

Girls remember, go for the eyes not the b#lls. If he can't see you he cant get you.

OMW, yes! eye gouge is your most practical move with limited training. You can practice with a cardboard box with "eyes" drawn on with a felt pen. that may sound morbid but in a desperate situation that's what you need.

Hey guys! I have slacked off this week for a couple of reasons....first,,,,,my happy Monday turned into having company show up for supper and my AF plans going somewhere out the door.....you guys know the drill....it just happened..BUT, I didn't get hammered. But I did feel like shit this week, and to top it off, I woke up yesterday with kind of a cough, and no it's a full out chest cold! ugh!
Karma, I think.....for going so strong and then dropping it all so fast....
How many times do we have to be so stupid???

                            Hi All
Sluggish week for me .I have started some light lifting and reduced my biking. The weather was to blame we have had a lot of rain after the weekend.Streets flooding not good for biking and tennis was rained out a couple of days.So with outdoor activities slowed down I did some light lifting every other day.I find this saps my energy level more than long distance biking or tennis must have something to do with getting old. Can't workout with anything near what I did when I was younger but still feel the training effect on my body.Much harder to workout in the garage compared to being outside on the tennis court or riding down the island on my bike. The body and mind still needs the workout and I feel this is my biggest weapon against al.When I first went AF all I thought about was getting to another day.Now with renewing my love of physical activities I am looking forward to each day and different activities.

                              Speaking of the parents....

When I bolted from the car we were in the middle of nowhere - it was pitch black out in the country. I saw this neon bar light off in the distance and ran for it. No shoes - running down the side of the road on gravel and glass. He followed me slow in the car and was "ordering me" back in the car. He obviously could have gotten out of the car and chased me and probably won - but he didn't thank goodness. When I got to the bar I was out of breath and sobbing and this nice lady - obviously the bar owner took care of me and slowly got out of me what happened, etc. etc. At the time I was working in a restaurant / motel in a tourist area, and lived with other workers in a dorm type place on that property. There was a woman named Mary who was a cook there, and was like "Mom" to all of us girls. Mary was called to come and get me. The cops were never called and later I learned why.

The nice lady in the bar who helped me an listened to my story (as I could get it out between sobs, etc.) was the Mother of the guy who I ran from. Their family owned that bar and also a small farm - the property all connected right there on that country road. So when I bolted from the car, it was RIGHT before we would have been at the farm where I believe I would have been raped and who knows what. I gave the name of the boy and described his car so this woman KNEW I was talking about her son although she didn't let on at the time.

It was quite awhile before I went on a date after that.

Wow - old memories - haven't thought about that one in a long time.

Workouts are going well! Still going to Curves every day and I'm adding reps each day now to my (fl)abs work.

An interesting topic came up at a SMART meeting yesterday - what would you do if you got injured and couldn't do your chosen exercise, when it's so important to your AF life? This came up as a girl injured her foot and suddenly found herself unable to do her chosen exercise. We decided it's worth thinking about back up plans. There are lots of types of injuries that might preclude what I'm doing at Curves - but swimming is often still an option - or some type of water therapy. So I decided to figure out what options I have near me with a pool. I know there is a YMCA close by, but there may be a health club or two that I haven't checked out - there are some fast growing towns not to far away.

Well - enough babble for one morning! Gotta run - :b&d::sofa: GO ABBERCISERS!!!

After a fulfilling day of cleaning up barf and poop, the little voice creeps into my head, it says?. ?Sure, you deserve a glass or 4 of wine? so I popped my L-glut and hopped on the tread mill. I ran 3 miles at a 7.5 mile pace and listened to some metal. MAN do I feel better. How it is, some kids can?t throw up without loosing control of the other end too.
