Been swimming tonight - about 40 lengths of 25 m pool. Feel better for it.
After my little hiccup on holiday I'm now back AF again and on Day 4.

            Hi All
Mon night got in my 15 mile bike ride .Into the wind on the way out .Nice pick up with it at my back on the ride home.

Tue -rest teaching tennis at the club

Wed-league singles tennis match.Went 3 sets almost 3 HR . Great match but lost. I keep it in the perspective of exercise so it doesn't become a negative experience.

            Thur-rest yard work

Fri-heading over to the tennis courts in about an hour for an hour and half hitting workout with my friend .Then off to the club to teach tennis for 2 hours to the kids.

              November Abbercise...just do it!

              Hi all,

a good gym week for me - tried running on the treadmill at the gym on Thursday to give my knee a try-out (I twisted it badly at the beginning of September) but it let me know pretty quickly that it didn't like that! Back to the elliptical trainer .....

Uncle Mame away this week and in his absence I plan to be up early every morning and at the gym! Also planning on some evening swims - sausage: you've reminded how lovely and relaxing they can be!! And I need to build up my swimming for summer tri season!!

                November Abbercise...just do it!

Hi abbercisers! Hopefully you will let me join in even though November is well underway. It's great to see old faces and also new here on the healthy lifestyle trek!

Today is my weekly day off from exercise so it's a great day to post here eh???? Yesterday marked another 6 workout week at Curves. My monthly (well, every 4 week) weigh in was last Wednesday and it was good - 4 more pounds lost and what I am particularly happy about - body fat % is now 28.5%. Still have a little ways to go but I'm getting close now.

Up until October, I kept very close track of my food intake, workouts, calories burned, etc. which was really helpful to stay on track. (I use a program called Life Form which is a really old version of something similar to The Daily Plate suggested by MM) Starting with my October camping excursions, I stopped tracking my food intake and just focused on making good choices - part of my preparation for maintenance mode. So that's why seeing a few more pounds gone and improvement in BF% was especially welcome news!

With the holidays right around the corner I don't really feel the need for a "special" holiday plan - I'm just going to keep on keepin' on. I will exercise every day that Curves is open, and eat the foods that are good for me and ignore the rest. Holidays are no different than any other days on the booze front - it's always my choice and I choose not to.

I do need to come up with a backup exercise plan for the extra holiday days that Curves will be closed - i.e. Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. I think I will move the laundry off the treadmill here at home, and dust off the exercise ball.

                Happy Sunday everyone!

                  November Abbercise...just do it!

I am happy to say I am back on track with short daily workouts, usually on the spinner. Realized that I'd had an infected cyst for a few weeks and it was keeping me feeling pretty lousy. Now that I am on antibiotics, I am feeling a lot more positive and energetic! Probably the most interesting thing about this, to me, is that it took me so long to realize that something was not right; after years and years of drinking, my expectations about how I should feel, or how it is "normal" to feel, are still out of whack. It's not that I am going to feel fabulous ALL the time... but I should not feel crappy, day after day, nearly 4 months after quitting the alcohol!

DG: GREAT to see you here!

Hi everyone - been on a 3 mile cross country run today- felt good - pleased with my time , (1 minute outside my personal best for that route)- considering I haven't run for 2 weeks and I drank several times a week ago! Am getting back into exercising again after my break away. My aim is to exercise 4 x a week minimum, 5 x if possible. This usually consists of 2 x 30 minute intense swims, 1 run (about 3 miles) and 1 50 minute gym session, but obviously can vary depend on weather, time available, daylight, what I feel like etc.

OK, I moved a bunch of furniture around today (upper body workout!), and did 15 minutes on the spinner. Working my way up very slowly with the aerobic workouts, because I tend to get overly demanding of myself, then feel bad because I didn't do the minimum target of 20 or 30 minutes or whatever... and then I just quit for a while. Stupid pattern to be in! So I set a minimum of 10 minutes, and that just about always gets done! And often I do a lot more than that.

Reading DG's posts today has energized me tremendously, too!!

                            Hi All
Just discovered the reason I am loosing upper body strength and it has to do with being AF.I haven't finished gathering my data yet but everything is pointing to the fact that my recycling bin is missing the beer bottles .I used to have to gather all the strength I had to lift it and carry it to the curb. Now a girl scout could carry it out.I guess I will have to dust off the weights and start pumping iron again.

LOL Caysea, need to load up that trash can with some green tea bottles or something.

I've got shooters elbow today hahaa!. I haven't shot this much in one day in years. at least 500 rounds, maybe 600. Action pistol shooting is pretty physical. running from A to B and jumping over things, ducking under them and then of course being very steady to make the shots. it's a heart rate pumper for sure!
so glad to be back in the sports and disciplines that I had abandoned when I was in the bottle.
