There's a concept in 12 step programs of doing "the next right thing." Obviously, for me, the next right thing is NEVER to drink. In order to keep myself sober ODAT, I've been thinking about the next right thing from minute to minute. I find that it keeps me grounded in the moment. So, just a few of my "next right things:"
-Biting my tongue on the impatient response.
-Letting someone into traffic.
-Telling the truth.
-NEVER TAKING THE DRINK.
