First day of my 3 week holiday and I promised myself that I will do some exercise every day! And not just swimming, which I love, but stuff that gets me out of my comfort zone. So today I rode my bike from work to home the long way .... 25 km and it took me 80 mins. Most of it was into the wind, and the only bit that was with the wind behind me was up-hill!! Was definitely the hardest lot of exercise I have done in some time and I felt buggered by the time I got home ....... but also felt like a good start! I shall sleep well tonight

Sounds like great fun mame. It's too cold to ride here today. I pulled something in my hip again and am starting to worry about my race next week. One day at a time I guess. I wont give up yet!

Made it to the swimming pool today despite being really busy with last minute preparations for Christmas. Did 40 lengths. The pool was almost deserted and they were playing loud Christmassy music over the loud speakers and it made me feel really good. I'm feeling much more positive about an AF Christmas now.

How many of you will be doing serious exercise on Christmas Day?!

            Happy Christmas abbercisers!!

I did!! Do I get a gold star??

Was lots of fun actually - gym was only open for 3 hours, so lots of the regulars were there all at the same time. They had great Xmas music videos and Xms mince pies at reception!

But one of the things I love about Xmas day int he southern hemisphere is that in the afternoon you can go out onto just about any street and see kids trying out the bikes, skateboards, roller blades etc etc that they got as presents!! The kids next door found that Santa had brought them a trampoline, and our morning was punctuated with them laughing and yelling out things like "Mum, come and watch what I can do!!" It was great!

                Aunty Mame

Congrats on your serious exercise on Christmas day - give yourself a gold star!!

That sounds so good seeing all the kids out with their new stuff in the hot weather! I can just imagine it. I've never experienced Christmas in the southern hemisphere - only ever a cold dark Christmas. I'd love to go somewhere south of the equator one day. My kids went out on their new bikes today but it was bitterly cold and miserable. As for me - no "formal exercise" over the last 3 days, regrettably although I have done a lot of walking and running after the kids on their new bikes. Hope to swim in the morning!

Did 40 lengths in the pool at 8am and then out with the kids on their new bikes AGAIN later this am, so plenty of exercise today!

Woo Hoo IAD!! Sounds like fun!

Haven't posted here lately BUT I've been faithfully staying on my daily (6 days a week) cardio program, hoping it will not only continue to improve my overall health but also minimize the effects of the large amounts of chocolate I've allowed myself to eat during Christmas! I'm going to go through a gradual chocolate/sugar detox over the next week.... if you hear some whining and sighing... that's me.

Actually I am feeling good, and so relieved that Christmas is over... looking forward to a nice long, easy treadmill session today...

Centergy (Yoga) and Jazzercise for me. Even though I'm a wino, I've always done one or the other or both. Off to Centergy today at 11:15am.

Ok, got my Wii Fit--which I might actually get to start using since the kids have checked it all out--they can help me! It has interactive Yoga, strength training, aerobics--you name it! The hubby is also going to let me use his new rowing machine. Now, I just need a plan. I can set that all up on the wii and it will help track my progress. I have eaten like there is no tomorrow and i know it will catch up with me soon. I want to do another "detox" and start getting in shape. So i will be checking in here for extra motivation!!!:thanks:

LVT...I love wii fit. My teenage girls and I have a running competition on points in diffo activities. I can scorch them in the hula hoop...comes with growing up in the 60's and 70's aka old lady. You will have soooo much fun with it. I was thinking of ordering the wii fit snow board game.

                              Have fun!!

Was all motivated to swim tonight - then discovered when I checked my Christmas timetable that the leisure centre shut at 6pm today - and even earlier tomorrow being new years eve!!!

So nothing done today (exercise wise) - apart from walking round the shops -if that counts!!!

One of my new year resolutions is to aim for a minimum of 4 lots of exercise (30 min minimum each time) per week, so let's see if I can stick to it!
