My daughter won our “white rabbits” competition this month! I didn’t realize in time that the month had changed.
She (Young Daughter) stopped over and helped set up my new TV, and helped me get a heavy-ish, awkward-shaped chair from the living room into my bedroom.
Yesterday a continuous mystery beeping started up in my condo. Thankfully I finally found the smoke detector with the dying battery inside the dropped ceiling in the basement!

Mick, I like the picture for your new avatar! When my mom was hospitalized for a couple weeks, the hospital parking at that big hospital was difficult. Thankfully they ran a valet service during busy times, which helped.

Lav, I’m going to Puerto Rico on Friday! ! I so look forward to the ocean and the warmth! I’m sad that, although D1 & I had plans to go again, she wouldn’t make plans with me (kept blowing me off), and instead made plans to go with her husband. “Well, you keep complaining about your foot.” I thought I did a good job last year keeping up and helping with the kids and everything, in spite of it all! Well, at least I got grudgingly included this time.

PQ, thanks for the update on the childcare director. I was wondering how she was doing.

      Greetings friends,

24 degrees this morning, colder than yesterday. Welcome December, my birth month, oh joy haha!
I was looking for a good side dish to go with our turkey burgers & salads for dinner & found a recipe for Amish onion patties. Boy are they ever good if yo don’t mind a little onion breath Lol. Fried them up on my cooktop griddle with minimal olive oil. I’ll be keeping that recipe. I used our homegrown sweet onions, very good.

Mick, I’ve ordered a few things online for Christmas, not much of a shopper anymore & that’s OK.
I hope Julie’s Dad is comfortable at this point. Say Hi to Bonnie for me

Slo, I hope your trip is wonderful! Glad your younger daughter pitches in to give you a hand with things. It’s a shame your oldest doesn’t have concern for your situation. I hate being an inconvenience to anyone, geez. I feel like I’m done with offering to help people at the drop of a hat, you know? Our smoked detectors are all hard wired in this house & monitored by a security company - no more changing batteries yearly when you hear the faint beeps haha.

Hello to PQ, hope your weekend has been good.
Hello to Cyn, Pie & everyone.
      Have a good night all.

          Good morning,

Lav, the Amish really have good, hearty, economical recipes. My in-laws brought me back two Amish cookbooks once when they travelled over that way.
How wonderful to be able to use your own produce too!
That is smart to have no smoke alarm batteries. What a smoke detector is doing INSIDE a ceiling is beyond me! Not sure what to do about that.
I do need to become more accepting of the changes I am undergoing as I age and my body breaks down. Lately my once sharp vision is going, and thatone has me really upset. But, at least I had 19 years of excellent vision; ever since my LASIK surgery in 2005.

Oh boy, it’s a busy day at the hospital, Mick! This must be in Manchester. And you & Julie have a busy day ahead getting FIL settled back in at the care home.

Yesterday I had to go out and buy some new shorts & a pair of capris for my recently expanding girth. That proves that I really am putting on pounds! Need to drop the cookies.

I will have to get serious about Christmas shopping too. I am not going to overdo it, as far as buying tons of gifts for people.

          Happy Monday!

            Good evening friends,

Woke up to a balmy 21 degrees this morning, Lol. Definitely starting to feel like Christmas around here.
I put a Shepherd’s pie together for dinner, baked it the air fryer/oven. Then I actually air fried baking powder biscuits. Don’t need all the calories but it made me happy

Mick, I know you & Julie are up to your eyeballs making sure Dad is well taken care of, I understand having been through all that with my parents. I hope you can find appropriate placement for him so he can be comfortable & safe. Good luck with the shopping.

Slo, the Amish cookbooks are cute but you need to skip a lot of their recipes due to sugar overload, ugh. No wonder none of them have many teeth in their mouth, no kidding. We do can or freeze a lot of produce that we either grow or buy from the Amish stands. The onions & garlic we grow usually keep pretty well. Loss of or changes in vision just goes with aging I believe. My husband had cataracts extracted earlier this year & that’s made him happy. First time in his entire life he doesn’t need glasses. Getting old is not easy.
since there are absolutely NO stores near me my shopping is done mostly online. I like Lands End, Eddie Bauer & a few other online stores. Same with shoes, I order from Sketchers, Brooks, etc. I keep UPS & Fed Ex in business. I went up one size 20 some years ago but now seem to be losing a few lbs here & there. I think my new probiotic is helping with that - Low of Nature Bets Days Formula. No more heartburn or reflux is nice.

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Pie & everyone.
            Have a good night all!

MAE ALL....just a quick check in from me, I had a horrible night, my COPD has flared up so I was up most of the night. Definitely an early night tonight. On top of that I'm due for my injection in 3 days and sure stiff and sore. My neck is still pretty painful, I find it just wears me out. We have got warmer weather with temps above freezing. Not having to deal with the frigid cold will help. Sorry for not chatting with all of you but read through your posts. Hopefully will get a better sleep tonight....PPQP

                Greetings everyone,

Below freezing here as it has been every evening lately, Brrr!
Nothing exciting going on with me. Just feeding & watering all the hungry mouths here (9 chickens, 3 cats, 1 dog & YB haha!)
Also Q working on some pillow orders, keeping everyone happy

PQ, sorry you’re having so many troubles to deal with all at once. I hope the weather at least gives you a break, geez.
We will be here when you do feel like chatting, no worries. Feel better!

Hello to Mick, Cyn, Pie, Slo & everyone.
Back to work for a few hours for me. Have a good night all!

MAE ALL...got some sleep last night, that makes all the difference. The flare up is settling down, the weather is staying warm, now I just need to regain some energy.

Lav...sounds like same old for you, and that's a good thing. Glad you're keeping busy with your pillow orders, as long as you're enjoying it.

Mick...hope things have settled down a little bit for you.

Slo...I bet you're getting excited about Puerto Rico.

That's it for now. I have to be in early for work tomorrow so will chat more tomorrow. Have a good night all...PPQP

                    Good evening friends,

Got out for a few hrs today to accompany YB to his Dermatology appointment. Stopped at Costco which is right next door to the medical office & stopped at Applebees fora quick dinner on the way home. Still very cold here & we’re expecting high winds in the morning with snow squalls. Not exactly our typical early December weather but OK.

PQ, glad you were able to sleep, it really does make all the difference. Enjoy the warmth while you have it for sure.

Hello to Mick, hope everything has settled down with Julie’s Dad. I know you two are going thru a lot with him.
Hello to Slo, Cyn, Pie & everyone.

Yeah, those are the same stores that I shop at too, Lav! I got the swimsuit from Lands End Inlet and the shorts from Eddie Bauer Outlet.
Goodness, you do have a lot of mouths to feed!
Didn’t realize that the Amish have so few teeth! I guess they must like their coffee cakes and sticky buns and such.

PQ, hope you’ll feel better after the injection later this week. The neck pain has to be exhausting.

I don’t think my emerging vision problems are cataracts. Sadly, it’s both fuzzy and cloudy. It seems like retinopathy or the beginnings of macular degeneration. I’m so bummed! To add insult to injury, I got zapped on the bare eyeballs by all the red lights in the red bed machine (red light therapy) at the clinic. She was demonstrating how to use it / how to get in the bed and put the lid down -I thought it was a simulation, and then POW! Now I’m worried about further retinal damage. It sure seems worse.

I babysat Huxley yesterday evening. He sure has an advanced vocabulary for not even being 2 1/2 years old. “Of course!” is a favorite phrase of his now.

Went up to see the other grands today, since I was halfway there after dropping my car off at the dealership for oil change etc. Had my sister take me. But, I thought it was understood that we would visit until my car was ready. But she said she had to make dinner for them that she brought along to make, and then she has to wait for dinner to eat with them…a bad snow & ice storm had cropped up in the meantime, so then we should stay overnight…I got an Uber to the dealership and got myself home.

PQ, I hope you can get a good night’s sleep tonight to help with everything. Hello to Mick.

                          Good evening everyone,

We feel near frozen here. Currently 28 degrees feel like temp is 9 degrees due to high wind gusts of 35 mph, Brrrrr!!!
Even the chickens said screw it & spent the day inside for the most part haha!! Keeping busy with this & that.

Slo, so sorry about the visual problems, geez. You don’t need that hassle on top of everything else. Can you get an appointment with a retinal specialist to at least ease your mind a bit? Sounds like you had a real busy day with the car & grandkids. Glad you got home safely. The Amish are just finishing up ‘wedding season’, tomorrow they are all headed to a funeral for one of their elders. She apparently had Alzheimers & was down & out for quite a long while. They take care of their own at home, the entire family gets involved. It’s something to see, really.

Mick, I hope you & Julie can find a resolution quickly. Even in the best nursing homes over here there’s always problems but they are regulated & have to conform to Medicare & Medicaid standards . They are inspected with a fine tooth comb yearly & given a list of things they need to improve on like fall prevention practices, infection control, etc. They will lose their licenses if they don’t fix the problems. Wishing you guys strength & luck.

I hope PQ is ok! She might be pretty spent if her COPD is acting up, on top of everything else.

Mick, I guess it wasn’t smooth sailing getting FIL out of the hospital and returned to his care home. Ridiculous.

Interesting peak into the Amish world, Lav. Does YB find out about the funeral and things like that when he drives for them?

I bought my first pair of readers -reading glasses -today. What a difference! My acupuncturist placed some needles to help bring blood flow to my eyes today. It seemed to help clear the left eye anyways. I have started red light therapy in the red light bed. Had my second one today, and hopefully these treatments will help my retinas too. I need to get in to see an eye doctor too, but my insurance changes at the end of the year, so maybe should wait until that switches over. A month ago I made an appointment with a really good eye doctor -but I can’t get in to see him for a year.

I took an hour, but I finally got checked in for my flight tomorrow!

Hello everyone and how are we today then ? hope all is well. Went out with the camera this morning to get some pictures and it started raining . but getting out was the main thing. We have a storm warning ahead for over the weekend storm Darra whoever or whatever he is ... sounds Irish to me. Julie has just gone up to the care home to see her dad she had a complete break from it all yesterday, for respite .... things will get sorted out and obviously it is going to take time. hope everyone is doing okay and that you have a good weekend. Bonnie is actually coming to me now, okay it may just be for food but I like to think otherwise take care all
needles and eyes Slo???aaaaargh..hope the glasses are ok.

Hiya lav...talking chickens? Thats ace.hope all is good..wrap up warm. The home Julie's dad in is one of the best believe it or not. Ok the falling is an issue but the bigger issue is the messing about that happens afterwards the length of time to wait for an ambulance leave him lying on the floor and then sitting in the back of an ambulance for goodness knows how long before even getting admitted to the hospital for triage one of the paramedics that was there the other night to Julie's Dad, I happen to know a very good friend of his and he was talking to Julie and mentioned the fact that at one stage an ambulance was outside Oldham Royal with a patient on board, the crew changed shifts, and yet again change shifts back to the original crew that self-same patient was on the ambulance when they changed which was a day and a half later there is no way in this world you can justify that. It's the whole care system that's broken despite the fact politicians would have you believe otherwise take care and have a good weekend

Big hello to anyone and everyone else who jumps into this forum take care look after yourselves
