    Greetings everyone,

Still cold & fairly windy here, good day for inside projects again.
YB is on an Amish Uber run this evening taking the local bishop & his wife to someone’s house - apparently they do counseling of some sort. When it becomes known that a family is struggling with finances or whatever they get counseling, whether they want it or not, Lol. He drops the bishop off & goes back 2 hrs later to pick them up. Interesting concept which would not happen in our world.

Slo, I hope your flight was easy & you have a great vacation!!!
Yes, YB gets all the Amish scoop, they even call him to keep him updated haha!

Mick, I hope your storm decides to go elsewhere & not cause any problems. We just heard the temp is warming up next week & rain is on the way. We still need more to catch up from the dry Fall season. I keep thinking about your healthcare system’s practices, so different from ours. Ours is far from perfect but no one is left lying on the floor or in the back of an ambulance for hours on end. All of the hospitals here have increased the size of the emergency rooms to better accommodate those busy times. Of course keeping them properly staffed is another issue. I hope you guys find a resolution soon.

Hello to PQ, how are you feeling now?
Hello to Cyn, Pie & everyone.

    Have a nice night all!
    Lav

I’m not having a great vacation so far. This was a mistake. This generation of parents are something else. They do this “gentle parenting” which is like pushover parenting, where the kids rule the roost, and they have to feel and express all of their “big emotions” -no matter how it affects those around them! And grandparents especially are constantly admonished that they’re not parenting right. No wonder why a wise friend who is ahead of me in the ages of the grandchildren (“No Sugar”), said she prefers to grandparent with just the grandchildren, without the parents around. I agree! Another grandparent with slightly older grandchildren than mine has also told me that same thing.
My son-in-law’s latest barb was to say that I shouldn’t come on their family trips then (because I take issue with the children screaming as piercingly loud and as ridiculously long as they want to, even though it is hurting my ears and my hearing). I wish I wouldn’t have come. I tried to switch my flight and get out of here, but can’t cancel a basic economy flight. I’ll just have to stick to myself other than playing with the grands on the beach some, until this is over.

I hear stories here too though of people being left on the gurney in the ER for hours, languishing in the hallway.

“Whether they want counseling or not” (!)…yes, the Amish run their world a little differently than ours I see. I guess it can be good or bad (supportive or unsupportive) to have the bishop involved in one’s affairs.

I hope PQ is feeling somewhat better after the biologic medicine.

Good day today - it went above freezing Lol
Tomorrow we’ll be in the mid-50’s, nice for a change after all this frostiness. Nothing. Special going on but kept busy all day. We were treated to a very pretty sunset at 4:49 pm. That’s overlooking the greenhouse & garage.

Slo, so sorry to hear about your trip, that stinks. I sure as hell wouldn’t bother going on another with them. I guess I’m fortunate that my kids never talked to me like that. Even my psycho DIL just stays away (which is appreciated). Try to get some quality alone time & enjoy the beach & sunshine.
YB just this morning mentioned he thinks the Amish are basically a cult. They are not allowed to read the New Testament & only the first few chapters of the old testament. They don’t do any thinking on their own, only do what the bishops tell them to do. I wouldn’t last 5 minutes in that crowd haha!

Mick, glad that nasty storm left the area. We did have a quick power failure the other day with the high winds. The generator kicked on but didn’t stay on more than a few minutes.
I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be a school teacher for these future students with no self control practice, geez.

          PQ, how are you?

            Greetings from the sunny beach,

It is going better here today. Our nerves were all frayed on the long travel day. Son-in-law is more pleasant today now that he isn’t hangry and tired.
It’s a chance for me to travel, so I guess it’s worth putting up with some millennial parenting nonsense. I agree with parenting gently & kindly -just not the part where they’re not being taught to be considerate of others; like the other travelers in the airport, on the plane, in the restaurant etc.

This is a wonderful chance to watch my grandchildren grow & develop! Thanks to Peppa Pig, the three kids are always play pretending to go off “on holiday” -as if they’re British! Even little Cooper grabs the suitcase and says he’s “going on holiday”! It’s fun watching Cooper learn how to talk, and Mabel colors in the lines now, and Beckett & I love playing in the ocean together.
Cooper keeps requesting “Teeth” to be played in the car -some edgy alt-rock song! It’s so funny; a 1 1/2 year old saying, “I want “Teeth”! over & over again from his car seat!
The food is good here; fish, rice, beans, plantains.

Lav, I almost said the same yesterday; that the Amish sound like a cult! I dislike group-think, and never even wanted to be in a sorority or anything like that where I feel controlled. The Amish lifestyle wouldn’t be for me at all.
That’s a gorgeous sunset over your property!

There’s rain here too, but only at night so far.

I’m worried that PQ may have ended up back in the hospital with her COPD flare.
