Hopes and Plans for 2009
Yes, my first & most specific goal is to be AF 365 days in 2009. I've gotten my start w/an entire AF month of Dec. I'll be back to add, but this is my most important goal. I won't be able to achieve the others if I don't stay sober all year.
Every time we post on this thread, it goes to the top of the pile of threads.

Hopes and Plans for 2009
I do a lot of soul searching this time of year. Contemplating the "fresh start" I have with the new year approaching. I think back to all the broken resolutions I've made in the past and am determined to make 2009 a better year. I know now that I have MWO I am on the right path.
I've had an ongoing list for months, started it when I started MWO.
HEALTH -
exercise 2-3 days/week
supps
stop AL
physical
MONEY -
savings
earn extra
ACTIVITIES -
ski
crafts
friends
TRAVEL/VOLUNTEER/EDUCATION
And the most important......be a better mom!
I hope its a good year for all of us.

Hopes and Plans for 2009
Hi Spotty,
Great thread and have been thinking about it a lot lately, new years resolutions and all that. I say it every year - this one has to be better than last!! - but I do really feel it this time - I have experienced and learned so much over the last few years I think it has stood me in good stead for the year to come - finding here and knowing I needed to seriously address my drinking habit has been a godsend - I equally find it difficult to make friends and 'put myself out there' with regard to myself on a job or personal front so I think I can relate to that very well!
I am a great woman for lists but always put down too much and never stick to it so I will refine my list to a few key things and get back to you on it!
xxThere will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.

Hopes and Plans for 2009
It hurts to look back and see all the years I was going to stop drinking, excercise, lose the A weight etc. But here I am on day 5 AGAIN and when I read these posts, I thought "so what about the past, it can be THIS time!" I can reach out, use the time I used to spend drinking , or feeling hung over, and live more fully.

Hopes and Plans for 2009
Spotty - this is great! I've been thinking a lot about this over the last couple of weeks and like you want to "move on" in some way. I've been making lots of notes to myself about what I want 2009 to be like ....... and this weekend is the weekend that I have set some time aside to write myself a letter about that.
I know that some people are really into SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound), and lots of people find them very motivating, but they dont do much for me. I much more into continuous improvement! So the bits of my letter that I have already done are about steps along the way for what I want to achieve for myself for the next year.
I also think that practicing those new goals in December is a good foundation for the future!! So I've been "experimenting" in December with what it feels like to do things that I find hard (so that when it comes to January I know that I've done it before!) .... in lots of ways it is mind games, but it works for me!!
But I struggle as all of us do - so interested in any other (new!!) thoughts about strategies for dealing with this ............ and looking forward to someone finding the magic wand!!!!!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Hopes and Plans for 2009
Spotty - Thanks for starting this thread.
Mary - Yes, Alcohol Free for 365 days in 2009 is Goal # 1 for me too. And that leads to better health, energy, and mental clarity.
Goal #2 is to develop a fairly large and complex e-commerce web site for our company. We are well-established, but conservative, industrial distributor and the current economy is very challanging. We are very good at what we do, but we need to expand beyond our local area. I am confident our statagy can work, but it is entirely up to me to make it happen. I have employees and familes to support, and this project must be successfully completed soon. Of course, progress has been faster since I stopped drinking.
Reaching our goals requires intention and effort. I intend to be sober, healthy and successful.

:bump::bump:
how are we doing?!
I'm procrastinating ...... have some goals but haven't put them down on paper. Think when I do I'll share them - something about accountability!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Along w/the 2 goals I have listed above:
3. Clearing up issues as they arise.
In other words: doing whatever I need to do to free my mind of any turmoil: phone call, discussion, etc. For me, circular thinking tends to lead to drinking.
