Hopes and Plans for 2009
I am almost in the same place as you are with the friends, except I haven't read the books yet. Weren't a couple titled "How to Win Friends and Influence people"? and "How to Pick-up Chicks (Guys)"? or something like that. Best of luck to you this New Year. I always feel so optimistic at this time. Too bad I can't keep that feeling through out the year.sigpic

Hopes and Plans for 2009
My resolution for last year was as usual to lose weight but it was the first year I actually achieved it. I joined the gym but I still have my beer belly. This year my goal is to lose that beer belly and be AF free. I also hope to get pregnant with baby no. 3 at some point.

Hopes and Plans for 2009
Ok, I promised I'd post on this thread a while back, been doing some serious thinking and so here we go...... - this looks a bit of a long list, but If I can achieve no (1) the rest will much more easily achievable
1) To stay AF for the whole of 2009 (managed 272 days in 2008 - drank every day in 06 and 07)
2) To continue to exercise and increase my fitness (minimum of 4 x 30 minute exercise a week) - want to aim for another marathon one day (ran 6 between 1997 and 2002) so aim to get back into distance running
3) To lose that last 10lbs or so to get back to my pre-children / marathon weight (have lost 17lbs since Sept 08 when I stopped regular drinking)
4) To eat healthier, cook / plan better meals (will help with no's 2 and 3)
5) To achieve more with the free time I have gained since I stopped daily drinking - eg doing things with my kids, exercise, meeting up with friends, reading more books etc etc - I have a long list!
6) To tidy, clear out and declutter my house drawer by drawer, room by room, lead a more minimalist life, only buy things, clothes etc I really need / can justify
7) To spend less time on the internet - that doesn't mean saying goodbye to MWO - certainly not, it has been a huge breakthrough in achieveing my sobriety and thanks again everyone for your support - however I do waste an awful lot of time on line, surfing, checking email - nothing worthwhile and I aim to cut this right down.
Happy new year everyone - wherever you are in the world and have a great 2009

Hopes and Plans for 2009
Oh and I forgot a major one - inspired by Mary, who left a similar one earlier
8) To sort myself out mentally - dealing with issues as they arise and bringing them to closure, especially if there is nothing I can do to change them ie things that have already happened or cannot change, stop worrying - apply the serenity prayer - do what I can to sort out the situation (if anything) and then move on freeing my mind for other stuff. The future is still in my power - the rest of my life starts now!!!

Hopes and Plans for 2009
Here's what I have so far... I have been reluctant to post because it almost feels as if what I post is set in stone AND that I have to have all my goals identified and specific... and one of the biggest ones is related to sorting out my work, which is still quite vague. But I think that one will become clear if I am patient, open, and thoughtful. Here are the other ones:
1. This time next year I will have been AF for 17 months.
2. I will finish renovating Mother’s house in Florida.
3. I will float the St. John’s River.
4. I will exercise at least 5 days a week.
5. I will sit meditation daily.
6. I will sit one 3-day meditation retreat.
7. I will practice yoga daily (at least 6 days a week).

Hopes and Plans for 2009
You all have such inspirational goals for the new year! I don't want to be a copy cat, but I would like to achieve most of what Sausage has on her list and WIP's too.
1. Make the effort to reconnect with my girlfriends.
2. Get into an exercise routine and stick with it. Including Yoga on my own.
3. Eat better.
4. Make time for devotions/meditation daily.
5. Do what I can to be more pleasant/cheerful, etc with my family. (I am open to suggestions on how to make this happen.)
6. Less time on internet and watching tv. More time cleaning up clutter, with kids, reading, exercising my mind....
That's probably a doable list. Thanks for starting this thread Spotty._______________

Hopes and Plans for 2009
mine:
1. 365 AF days
2. Some stretch goals in relation to my fitness - starting with a long swim on Jan 24th, the swim leg of a triathlon on March 14 and a 100km bike ride on April 14
3. Start singing again (choir auditions at the end of Jan)
4. Not procrastinating on things around the house (like paying bills!)
5. Getting our debt under control
6. Not letting my "to read" pile exceed a foot in height!
7. No "sweating the small stuff" (as in: it really doesn't matter if Uncle Mame washes the towels with the t-shorts!)
8. Get another cat!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn
