    January (new year) abbercisers!!

You guys, I joined a health club. It is kinda like Curves. I have gone twice in 3 days. I feel better than I have in a few years! I am pretty weak, but that will change fast!

      January (new year) abbercisers!!

      Hello All,

Went to boot camp this morning and soon realized how sore I was from Tuesday. It was darn cold out too but it felt great to be there. Such a great way to jumpstart the day...

        it does change fast!
i feel great. even when i was drinking heavily i exercised (some of the time), but it was never a good workout, now i feel powerful and strong (and redundant).

i walked 1.5 hours (it was 60 degrees here today! unheard of in january!). i believe it was about 6 miles?
        my dogs were loving it.
saw a red tailed hawk, a bunch of donkeys followed us along their fence, they were very curious and cute, and a long snake that i believe was a bull snake, but it's weird that they would be out in the winter.
i made sure to be "in the moment" and enjoy the brisk walk while taking it all in and breathing really deep here and there...i'm enjoying the sunkissed cheeks i have now.

today is 1 week af, btw!

lvt25-i live in ne currently, but have been all over the place. i was born in western south dakota, which really feels like home to me

        peace!

IAD, I love how you always post a funny or relevant graphic : )

I use the MWO "you love excercise" hypnotherapy CDs, they work!

Walking and/or doing yoga everyday now, coming up on 4 weeks AF and still feeling great!

            Stay strong!

Oh, I forgot MWO had exercise cd's. It was kinda weird last night, I fell asleep listening to the "hypnosis" and woke up when he said to. Hmmmmm. I do feel more motivated and energetic--whatever works, I say!:h

(Peacenik--spend a little time in SD. Love Deadwood-it is only about 3.5 hours away. Also love the Black Hills in the summer!!)

yep the MWO hypno and a couple of Wayne Dyers and Deepak Chopra and a couple more I've never heard of.

I did my 2 mile "time trial" on the TM today and found that I am MUCH faster if I just walk (even uphill!) than if I intersperse some jogging... amazing...

Beem swimming this morning - 40 lengths. It's going to be difficult exercising Tues, Wed, Thurs this week as Mr Sausage is away on a course so I have no-one to take care of the kids.

Hi everyone! I'm woefully behind with reading on this thread so please accept my apologies for not knowing what great abbercise everyone is up to!

Sausage - I did see your note about Mr. Sausage going out of town. Too bad you don't have one of those fancy gyms with childcare services!! I hope you find some way....

One of my missions for this year is to get out and about more and I've been working on that. I belong to a local Chamber of Commerce group called Council for Working Women but haven't attended their functions until recently. The monthly luncheon was Thursday and the guest speaker was a local woman who has a yoga / medidation focused exercise studio. I really liked her and I think I may go to a yoga class tomorrow and see what that's like. I'm interested in adding more variety to my program so I don't get bored. At least I have something to go check out! I will never drop Curves below 3 or 4 X per week, but my body might respond well to something different a couple of days a week.

Mean time, the January Curves boot camp is pretty HOT. There were 5 additional exercises we all had to do last week after the regular workout. That added about 12 minutes onto the workout, so a significant % increase, and all done with the heart rate already up. I can feel the benefits of the extra ab work in particular! Can't wait to see what the exercises will be this week.

Exercise is a crucial part of my new, sober life and I have all of you here to thank for showing me the way!!

                          January (new year) abbercisers!!

Hi just a little info about me. I am not very good at posting and have to get a little motived for the next part of my plan. I am now over 7 months AF and what to get a lot stronger, I have found out that I love chocolate and have gained 15 lbs. now that I know that this is my new life I need some advice about ideas that have worked for others to stay active. I go to the gym almost every morning at 5:30 for a hour. and work 6 days a week standing in one place. I live in a very small town and there is not much for activies other than bars in the winter. I am a single person and my children have all grown up and the last one is moving in a couple weeks, so if anyone has any ideas to keep active in our long winter months or to do something that is positive please let me know........thanks for you thoughts ...Rusty

Hi, Rusty! Good questions... how about some kind of class at the gym? Yoga or something? It helps me a lot to stay motivated to do something healthy, if I'm doing it with other people... and it reminds me that going to a bar is really not the way that I want to socialize and have fun...
