January (new year) abbercisers!!
Hi abbercisers!
Did go swimming today, but couldn't go first thing this am so went later on and the pool and changing rooms were very crowded and I didn't really enjoy it.
Ezzmae - you've motivated me now - may be I will give body pump a try in a while just with lighter weights. I want to get back into my pilates too.
DG - I do really like the sound of Curves and i've looked at their website a bit too - I will certainly try and go with my friend and have a look round although I don't think at the moment it''ll be any good for me - I have to check opening hrs but I think my local one doesn't open til 9am and shuts at 7pm and with 2 young children, the only time I get to exercise normally is very early in the day or in the evenings - yours must open dead early as I think you are 6 hrs behind me!!
Hope everyone else is doing OK!

Alrighty, the lungs feel better and my nose is alomst clear....so nat the slacker ran 3 miles and did her face lick sit-ups with the doggy. I feel better and the doggy is very pleased with herself for helping motivate her person. Was an alcoholic yesterday, an alcoholic today and will still be an alcoholic tomorrow..... but I'm in charge now!

Hi all! Deter, I'm shaking my head and my finger at you! You are not 18 any more! Take care of yourself OK? :l
Sausage it sounds like the Curves hours there are as limited as many of the Curves locations here in the US. That is a big complaint. So I'm sure that WOULDN'T work for you!
Went to Curves this AM and really pushed it. My Saturday work out was lax so I got my heart rate up and going today. Also did this week's "boot camp" extras. I then ran errands and went to the Yoga place, but the teacher was a no show today. I hope she didn't get in a car accident or anything bad - the owners of the studio couldn't reach her and said that was quite unusual for her to not show, not call, etc.
Well, I'm off to get some breakfast and then get the figure skating going!

January (new year) abbercisers!!
Hello All,
My middle child (who has been involved in gymnastics since she was 4 years old) had her first meet of the year yesterday. Talk about an inspiration...to see all of these incredibly strong and flexible young women. I know how much hard work and practice it takes though (she trains 10+ hours per week).
Got in my boot camp this morning and tomorrow I will go for a run if the weather holds out. Running has been tough because of the weather but I have to get back on track for my 1/2 marathon in March.
Sausage, I can relate to having restricted time to work out. If I don't work out early in the am, then it will not happen. With three kids, once the day gets started, it becomes less and less mine.
DG, Yoga sounds good. I love how you take charge and take action!

January (new year) abbercisers!!
Hi all,
I'm still fighting the evil scales at the gym that tell me I'm 10lbs heavier than my bathroom scales at home. Making progress though! I've still got about a stone to lose - that's 14lbs/6.5kg for those of you who don't speak Olde Englishe Weightes.
When I joined the gym last summer I reckoned the weight would DROP off really quickly. You know those TV shows - Biggest Loser type things - where people lose 7lbs in the first week, then 6lbs the next? I thought that would be me! The fitness instructor at the gym told me to expect a weight loss of about 2lbs a MONTH. And I thought "Are you NUTS? I'm going to be losing 7lbs a WEEK!!" He was right, of course. And since then I've lost about a stone, so 2-3lbs a month.
Did gym'n'swim at lunchtime today rather than early or late and it was really busy. Very choppy water in the pool!sigpic

Drove to the leisure centre for a swim tonight - really motivated. For some strange reason just could not park in the carpark, it was totally full (and you can't park in neighbouring streets) despite circling round 5 or 6 times with many others. Gave up eventually and came home REALLY FED UP - a few months back I would just have drunk a bottle of wine to forget my frustration - but I didn't, I had a mug of tea and watched a TV documentary about Barack Obama's life instead. Hope to swim tomorrow.

Marshy - I know how you feel about the weight loss. When I joined the gym I thought in 6 months I will be in a bikini, I thought I would get skinny and delicated like I was in my early 20s. However my body had other ideas, the weight came off slowly, is still slowly coming off, but my body has now become athletic. After 18months I am only now getting close to wearing that bikini. After losing nothing for 2 months I lost a 1kg yesterday, but I have upped my weight so have gained new muscle, I just can't work it out.

Ezzmae - I'd forgotten about gaining weight from new muscle. Aha! Yeah, and also the age thing...
Sausage - my gym has been really busy lately too. One of the fitness instructors was saying that it's people who've made new year's resolutions to exercise - January is always like that apparently. Then people gradually lose interest and drop out again and it gets back to normal!sigpic

I agree about the new members. Last year my gym signed 300 people up on a really cheap 3-year deal. We were all really panicked for the first few weeks, there wasn't any room to move there. By Feb they had mostly disappeared. By march the numbers of people in the gym was back to normal. But at least you resisted that drink Sausage, and saved yourself lots of empty calories.

Am off my behind and moving!
Hi, morning for me. Yesterday I finally got myself out of the house and moving and went down for a swim. Pool was empty and I managed to swim fast enough to raise my heart rate to a respectable level (can't do freestyle!). However I understimated the sunblock and am fetching shade of lobster today. I also went and booked a yoga class for Friday, which I've been THINKING about for such a long time. Thanks to everyone for posting - you all do a great job of motivating! B.:thanks:Proud to be SLIGHTLY SLOVENLY.:wavin:
