Just a quick pop in, kids are running around outside, and I am finally vacuuming! Maybe I will even go outside to in a little bit, it is actually kind of warm and sunny.
wip, I hate the cold too!
afm, I have hardwood floors, too, thank goodness!
Ah, I would LOVE to go to Mexico, someday I would like to be able to afford to go places like that in the dead of winter, because I feel dead all winter!

Good Morning everyone! Everybody seems so optimistic and ready to take on the day AF. Even the housework and chores, which have been the beginning of a drink fest before noon for me (and I'm sure for a couple of others out there...) are being tackeled with a smile. I have to get some work time in today. Classroom has several areas of deep clutter that need to be taken care of, piles of papers that need to be gone through, grading, end of term grades (one more week 'till break!!!whoohooo) and taking down posters and putting up new ones. Leaving our oceanography unit behind and going into space. I too love the planning stages of anything....then implementation. aggghhhh. Not so much fun. I plan on working today so tomorrow is free for a beach clean up with a couple of local organizations. This is part of my "therapy"...to get out and socialize more.

Hi all! Later than usual check in for me. The cold + daylight savings time = still not adjusted to getting up earlier! It's been a busy but good day already. Accounting catch up, AA, shopping, Curves, got dinner going in the crock pot, 2 loads of laundry almost complete. And you know what? After that it's ME TIME!!! I'm going to do some resting and reading and maybe napping and that is ALL!

Hula I love your new avatar (fairly new anyway, right?) and also your new "classroom." Although I shall miss the beach in the daylight. I'm guessing the moon might be over the beach but I of course like SEEING the beach.

Lila vacuuming sounds like it's popular today. None for me, thanks. We have almost all HW / laminate / tile floors. Can't wait to get rid of the rest of the carpet. 4 dogs + carpet = skanky.

Deter you are sounding better. Will have to check out your new techie discovery as whatever it is, I'm sure Mr. Doggy will be interested.

AFM there is a part of me wishing it was raining here so I wouldn't feel guilty about lounging around this afternoon. But I'm trying to get over feeling guilty about taking down time. I DON'T DRINK ANYMORE. SO I DON'T GET HANGOVERS ANYMORE. SO I DON'T NEED TO FEEL GUILTY ANY MORE. Maybe if I write that 100 times I will remember it.

Mary, good for you putting that drinking thought to the curb right away. Hmmm... maybe that's a good strategy. Drinking thought = get out the vacuum cleaner. That will cure me REAL fast of having any drinking thoughts!

LVT those meetings about youth drinking do sound interesting. I hope you will tell us more detail about what happens - what the parents and kids are all saying. I think it's great that you have gotten involved in that. Who knows better about the dangers of alcohol than people like us!?! I hope your cows don't founder. I'm assuming it's just as bad for cows as for horses?? Yikes. LOL at the image in my mind of you chasing Buffy. We need to get a permanent video camera hooked up on your porch.

WIP have an excellent bike ride! I think we should all decend on Marshy with our bicycles one of these days.

Greenie Mr. Doggy and I got WAY out of the movie going habit - goes back to the drinking (me) and pot (him) days where staying at home to get wasted was the choice instead of going out. Your movie mention made me think I should see what's playing at the OLD theatre (rennovated from the 30's or something like that) in a nearby town and maybe drag Mr. Doggy out to a movie once I'm over this cold. Have fun and let us know what you see if you go. (and if you recommend it)

Charlee, it DOES seem like way less than a year ago when you were planning your trip. My how far we have all come!

I am pissed. Mr. Doggy just brought over the dog trainer he works with to "have a couple beers" on our porch. It was TORTURE last summer getting through EVERY Saturday with the "afterglow" going on. I lost my sobriety in 2007 following dog training here. We finally get the damn training moved somewhere else and now he brings the party back here? I'M F'ING FURIOUS!

I just called him inside and called foul, and told him if this happens again I'm going out to make some new pot smoking friends and I'll invite THEM over here every Saturday to party on the porch. He would go CRAZY if he had to be around people smoking pot for even 5 minutes. I can't believe he's doing this.

I have learned to be around a fair amount of drinking and not drink. But I DO NOT NEED THIS at my house any more.

It WON'T happen again. I haven't been this furious in a long long time.

Hello folks,

I've been wrapped up in my own stuff for a while but will be back on the boards tomorrow to catch up. Hope you're all doing well.

I'm pursuing a professional qualification I really should have completed eons ago and had my first exam for it today. I haven't taken exams in forever so it felt like being in a time warp. Studying for it this past week I became painfully aware of the useless brain chatter that sabotaged many hours of concentration. Compulsive thinking. It's got to go!! Still, the majority of the time I was fine, I didn't divert, I didn't avoid, I didn't cop out at the last minute but I did OD on chocolate the past two days. Big time. I feel an odd stillness. I've just done something today I've literally put off for years. How weird is that!! Oh, and I was celebrating with an AF cider but I barely fancy it.

I think I've been inside my head for a few too many days so vacuuming is probably on the agenda tomorrow.

DG, sorry about the dog trainer boozefest on your porch. Your home is your castle and should definitely be a safe comfort zone. But just for this moment, while it's happening, you know you can step back from it all in your head. You're no longer in the mental place you were at in 2007. Perhaps Mr Doggy has seen you around so much AL he thought it would no longer bother you. I'm sure you'll be able to talk it thru soon. Hang in there!
