OMG!! SATORI!!! It is wonderful to see you our friend. And you too our July with a July fly by. Narilly you are RIGHT it's a great day to be alive. I'm glad to be checking in here in the wonderful company of so many new friends and old friends in this journey of ours.

Knittinggranny I left a note for you on the other thread but am not sure which you might check. So hello here too, and I'm so happy to "hear with my eyes" that you are still sober. It's not easy, but it's so worth it. Congratulations!

Peacenik I'm sorry to hear what Stevia does to you. I had THE most devine chocolate I have ever tasted in my life about a month or so ago. I was at the health food store to get some 85% organic chocolate which is a sometimes treat. One of the owners said - you want the best chocolate EVAH try some of this. It was raw sweetened with agave nectar. OMG that was delicious. Thank goodness the box was small. It had 6 individually wrapped pieces and you KNOW I ate all of them that day!! I'm just glad the box didn't have dozens of pieces - I would have made myself sick for sure. So that's what I think of each time you mention agave nectar agave nectar agave nectar!

MM you sound terrific with a great plan going and a great attitude to go with it. We CAN influence the misery index of these early AF days with our attitude. Your DD sounds wonderful - she is worth being sober and "there" for. Especially with the compliments like that!! You're right - who needs a man. OOOEEEE we are going to have to talk about some of that as the next weeks/months unfold. I'm starting some preliminary writing work in AA that is going to bring some issues in that department (along with issues in several other departments) front and center. Back to today - I need to remember that the L-Glut trick is for sugar cravings too. Since the recent diagnosis and things being up in the air in terms of a plan I've been craving comfort food. And there is no better comfort food on this planet than gummy bears. I'm glad I still have some L-Glut - I need to start using it until this phase passes.

Cindi - sounds like you are hangin' in there on the road. Good for you - I know it's not easy.

Greenie - 10 for lunch???? I admire your bravery. Especially if wine is to be served. At least you are wise and are recognizing that "poor me" type thinking so you can nip it in the bud early. What are you cooking?

AFM - hope counseling goes well today.

Charlee - I LOVE having some morning time to myself!! I hope you relax and enjoy instead of pressuring yourself to tackle a to do list or something.

I'm glad I have figure skating to divert my attention to the lighter side of my life this week. Waiting to hear from my doc about the necessary steps to schedule these tests and waiting for the books to arrive so I can read up on the path I am considering would be tough with distractions. Patience is a WONDERFUL thing for other people. I really like the German pair Aliona SAVCHENKO / Robin SZOLKOWY. They always do something way outside the box musically and choreographically. Their short program this year is to music from Lost in Space - the 60's version. I wish I could rock the hot pants like Alonia LOL! (and Robin is a rare man who can rock a purple plastic unitard - and yes, on video there is a man pant wedgie if you enjoy that sort of thing!! ) I don't know if they won the whole event for Pairs or not yet, even though it's been decided. I just can't stay away long enough so am having to rely on Tivo and internet recordings.

I'm going to go for some recorded catch up right now! Have a wonderful AF day all.

R2C - well - judging by your avatar pic - you have to admit you are not at your best! :H

DG - Great to see you again - looks like you are doing great - I'm sure you can rock these tiny pink hot pants just fine - so please post the pictures so we can judge for ourselves!

(If you don't - I WILL post ones of me in purple unitard - you have been warned LOL :H)

          Talk to you all later

          Love :l

Satori, you'll have to look up DG's "my story" with the before and after pictures. Stunning!

DG, chicken salad, tofu "eggless salad" (that is actually decent), sandwich makings, chips, whatever fruit looks good, garbanzo bean and fennel salad, mango pie (Publix market) and strawberries for desert. And yeah... wine & beer. I'm over it. I'll have some lovely ice teas too.

I'm making dinner that night too. WTF was I thinking Roasted butternut squash soup (crockpot) tossed salad & bread.

Hee hee. Thank you Greenie for pointing Satori to the pictures. Because I have always been curious what Satori looks like in a purple plastic unitard. Now we get to find out!!!

Greenie your menu sounds lovely. If you have time one of these days (after you have this gathering behind you) I would be very interested in your crock pot butternut squash soup recipe. I'm trying to learn more about squashes and how to cook them.

At what point do we get to entertain without booze on the table in our own homes? I suppose the answer is any time we want, but nobody will come?? That question popped into my head as one of my Aunts does not allow any liquor in her home. I think she grew up around problem drinkers (not sure of the details) and that might have something to do with her passionate rule in her house. But it's HER house and the only person in the family to my knowledge who was ever bothered by that rule was me - the alcoholic drinker. People who drink normally can take it or leave it and those folks all seemed just fine with leaving it. (even the ones who do drink on occassion)

Anyway....I've really grown weary of being around drinking. I don't care that people drink in their own space and time, I just find it boring and bothersome unless I'm at a business related function where I'm benefiting from being there beyond just a social occassion.

Anyway...I guess I'm turning into a bitch. No wait. I've always been a bitch. I don't know what my problem is.

I'm with you DG...don't like being around people drinking. Never have, course most of the drinkers I've been around have had way too many. I can't imagine going to a bar or anything like that. Besides I can't really stand the smell either.

And I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with making your own rules, in your own house. I don't entertain much, so not a big problem for me. And 90% of my family doesn't drink anymore so thats a good thing.

Oh and good to see you back July 23rd...we do share that date on a special level

I was out w/my g-son this AM & much to my surprise Satori has come back. It was a big loss when you left though I know you felt you had good reason to. I'm still here & doing OK. Progressing w/my recovery program the very best I can. Hi to everyone here. Mary

I don't have any open bottles of AL around here. I remember asking you, Satori, about that, & you said you keep them around (dusty that they might be) as a proving ground for yourself. Anyhow, something like that. I was reading about this in "Living Sober" the AA book. It said that in the beginning it is probably better not to be around too much drinking. None of our friends & family drink an awful lot. I am having a small dinner tomorrow night, & we'll probably serve wine. But, I'll throw out any leftover or have the guests bring it home. I have had plenty of AF dinners & they are great. Everyone makes perfect sense all night long. Mary

I had this long thought going about serving wine but I ended up annoying myself so I erased it. I have to go vacuum and get back to the hole anyway.
