AF daily - Monday 6th April

    Morning all!

From yesterday's thread, hello to Arial, Rudemama, Mary, DG, Tom, Speedster, Det, Med Mama, Hulagir, ThatGirl, Narilly, LVT25, Sausage, AFM, Sante. Phew! And everyone else who dives in to the AF pond today. Come on in, the water's lovely

Day off work for me today Beautiful spring sunshine. I'm off to the library and gym. I ordered Walt Whitman's complete poems from the library when Lilnev quoted a bit in a post and I realised I've never really read any of his work. That was about two months ago and the library has finally texted me to say it's available for me to collect. I think they must have shipped it over from the States!

    Have a great day everyone!

AF daily - Monday 6th April

Good morning, all. Just a quick check in as I get ready for a busy Monday workday. It promises to be a cool, rainy, and very windy one here today (wah!).
MM -- good luck to day with that nasty school business. I'm outraged for you and your daughter. Sending loads of positive vibes your way...
And to the rest -- wishing you a strong, bright, AF day, :h

"I'll be happy because I deserve to be!"

Good afternoon Marshy and Kirova - thanks for the kick-off!

I love the water metaphor - as I love water it just instills a sense of peace and tranquility which is how I'm feeling these days, despite all the hassles and stress of work. The quote above came from a song I caught on the radio this morning and I thought 'yes - I do deserve to be happy', so today, with the sun shining, signs of spring and being on holiday, I definitely will be! So happiness vibes being sent to everyone today !

Actually I've just had a weird meeting with my boss - last year I was fired from my position of responsibility (ie I didn't lose my actual job, but the additional role of responsibility which I did on top of that). Today she said that the people responsible for my being let go from this had since backtracked and suggested that they had actually made a mistake and that I was the best person for the job after all! I have therefore been invited to reapply for the position now it is being readvertised. It was good to have been vindicated, but to now have to reapply and go through the interview process again is a pain, as she's invited me to reapply, but with no guarantees of being offered the position!

Oh well, it's nice to have the recognition and good to have the job security (for the moment), so I'll probably reapply and see what happens. It certainly helped raise the 'happiness' bar this morning anyway. A trip to the dentist this afternoon, however, will certainly lower it again temporarily, but at least this should be the last visit for a long while. As I'm one of his more difficult patients I think he'll be glad to see the back of me!

Anyway, off for a run now so look forward to dropping in later to catch up with everyone.

Have a great, happy, AF day all!!

        Good Morning Abbers!!

Hi Marshy Kirova, Arial. Yes, the water IS fine! My happy meter is way up there. I have returned from my 3 day flyfishing outing with a big smile. See? The nervousness was for naught. I had a wonderful time with some really nice people. A retired guide took me under his wing and spent all day Saturday with me. Very nice gentleman who enjoyed teaching me and had a nice round laugh. I stood in the middle of the river with my flyrod in hand and closed my eyes feeling the sun and breeze on my face and listening to the sound of the water and all was well. My heart was so full of gratitude. Enough for everybody so carry as much as you like around with you today!

              Good morning!

Another beautiful day here! I just love this weather. It makes it very hard to be cranky even with this head cold I have awoken to.

Gotta run. Have a great day everyone!

                Good Morning to All,

It's lovely here, too, in the Florida Keys -- although high winds and stormy weather are on the way. We'll enjoy today, though, and are very grateful for the chance to be here on the water, enjoying the sun and fresh air, and adventure we're on. No alcohol today...will explore the mainland instead, catch up on some local history, and spend this evening with fellow boaters. Life is okay! Am feeling healthier, more alert, and less irritable as the AF days go by...

Heya everybody, just one day away from (hopefully) being able to mod and I have an open question for you all: if and when I start modding, providing I don't mention drinking, is it ok for me to still post in here and say hi to everybody? you've been such a big part of my journey and it would seem a shame to reach 30 days and then cut off from everybody - I love hearng how you're all doing

Anyway, day 29 is a bit off an off day for me I'm afraid: have come down with a nasty cold so ahve spent the mornign watching awful daytime tv and eating grapes. Also my younger brother failed to stay in school all day today once again - he's 14 and much like me at that age has tried pot, drinks, and is sexually active, however he also smokes 20 a day and has tried speed, meth and cocaine amongst other drugs. Needless to say I am worried about him.

AF daily - Monday 6th April

Gratitude and spring weather - count me in, what could be better!!

I went through old stuff the other day and found a flyer for Bach flower remedies. I'd completely forgotten about them but bought a 'purifying' concoction a few days ago. Perhaps that's responsible for the clarity of vision today. I've had a choice of projects for April and now made the decisions on what I'm going to focus on. Also, met a big boozer friend of mine on Satuday and not only stuck to mineral water myself but managed to pry him out of the pub after just two pints - YAY!

To top it all off, my new Samsung NC10 is arriving in the post tomorrow - I am SOOO excited!

Life is good. Enjoy it everyone!!

Haha. I wondered that too, but I'm so ungadgety I just assumed it was over my head.

I forgot to post this earlier. It's an article by a writer who was admitted to hospital with a digestive problem and was put on an alcoholics' ward. It's quite yukky in parts - the image of the protruding belly button will stay with me for a while - but I like reminders of where I could end up.

                            Hello Ab-landers!

Whee! It's the Guess What's in Pamina's Mailbox Game!!! I think her new Samsung NC10 is a laptop computer. But I should point out that the reason I think that is because I googled it. Pamina, I bet you are excited. Also good for you on chosing your April project. I'm sure it would be snoopy to ask what it is?

Marshy thank you for starting us off today. Wow. Walt Whitman's complete collection of poetry. You are making me feel guilty for only wanting to read a really trashy novel right now. (any suggestions?)

Arial you definitely deserve to be happy today even if you DIDN'T have the promotional opportunity in front of you! So double happy to you! Maybe the interview process is just a formality so nobody can complain that they didn't have a chance to throw their hat in the ring???

Greenie it sounds like you had an awesome time. You deserve it! You made me think of the happy part (the actual fly fishing parts!) of A River Runs Through It. Mr. Doggy's Dad spent lots of time fishing with the boys so those are all happy thoughts!

Charlee what a great reminder about gratitude. I can never afford to forget what I was like as a drunk, and to be grateful to be back among the land of the ALIVE and actually living.

Rudemama, congrats on getting to Day 4. Keep plugging along and don't give up! Get this early nasty part behind you. You raise a good point about things being easier when we do them sober than when we try to do them drunk. Actually, I think that would be a great discussion topic for rest of today and tomorrow if we have any takers! What used to be an SOB to get done while drunk that is oh so much easier now?

AFM - sorry about your head cold!

Sante, Glad you are feeling healthy and alert! How long will you be on this trip? I used to live in Florida and loved going down to the Keys. Are you sailing off to other places?

TG - sorry to hear you are down with a cold too. LOL on grapes and bad daytime TV. Now that sounds like punishment! Sorry to hear that your little brother is heading the wrong direction. I hope he will look to his big sis for some advice! I am fine with you posting here as long as the discussion is not about drinking. Even after almost a year sober, my alcoholic mind is still ready for a mind game. I just don't care to go there. Thanks TG for being so respectful of that. I appreciate your understanding and I'm sure others do too. I have certainly grown fond of you and will be interested in hearing about your creative endeavors! So that's my opinion anyway. Others?

Deter - Hangoverless. I like that. I am happy and hangoverless today. Wait. Here is another use of your new word. Since quitting the booze and starting to exercise, my big girl pants fit better because I hangoverless. :grannypants:

OK. Things that are easier to do AF than drunk. Convince Mr. Doggy that I really DO NEED those 3 new pairs of shoes. (well, I haven't actually done this one yet. I'm working up to it though)

I can't believe we had a snow storm last night. It looked like a Norman Rockwell Christmas out there this morning! But now it's half melted and just muddy for the dogs. I am ready for REAL spring. That will send my happy meter through the roof!!!!

Have a great AF day everyone.
